We loved Flo from the moment we met! From our meetings and all the emails in between, she remained so approachable and easy to communicate with. It made us excited to spend time with her during our engagement session and wedding day. We love her vision and attention to detail, plus she provides gentle guidance and direction to beautifully capture emotion and love in our photos. Flo along with her second photographer Lena worked hard to get every photo and detail of our wedding, and just from our sneak peek, we can tell how much love and care went into capturing our wedding. No notes! We love Flo and truly had an amazing experience working with her. We would 1000 percent recommend to book her for your wedding, event or portraits!!

Justin McCallum Photography

5.0

New York, NY
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $5,200

Hi! I’m Justin (he/him) and I’m here to affirm your love, make you feel like a fucking rockstar, and dance like a total fool. Oh, and take so many gorgeous photos of y’all. Obvs. My style blends both documentary photojournalism and fine art photography: coaching folks who are shy in front of the camera, then stepping back to capture authentic moments uninterrupted. I’ve been lucky enough to have my work published by A Practical Wedding, The New York Times, GLAMOUR, People Magazine and many other fabulous outlets. I'm a stereotypical Capricorn that loves drag shows, campy horror films, every dog I meet, and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

Awarded Best of Zola
Justin was phenomenal to work with! We hired him as we noticed how, compared to the other photographers we were considering, his images evoked fun and a world of vivid colors, and above all, everyone in his photos looked HAPPY, which is a harder quality to find in professional wedding photos than you might think. Anyway, Justin did not disappoint! While a consummate professional, he was also incredibly fun to work with and was great at putting us at ease in order to get the best, most natural photos possible. He brilliantly captured the warmth and love of our wedding day. We felt seen and understood throughout the process of working with him, and the resulting images were gorgeous, bursting with light, color, and joy.

Millie Elangbam Photography

5.0

New York, NY
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $7,000

Hi, my name is Millie! I picked up a camera 11 years ago and I've been wholeheartedly devoted to this craft ever since. Through photography, I've come to understand that the meaningful connections I form with others hold a special significance for me and should be documented. My journey has naturally directed me toward wedding photography, enabling me to translate your love into art. To me, nothing compares to distilling love into photographs.

We are SO happy with our decision to work with Millie on our wedding. She was the best (and even more). Our photos are gorgeous, and we are so grateful for all of her amazing work leading up to and throughout our wedding weekend. Ahead of our wedding, Millie did a beautiful job on our engagement photos and then sent us the most beautiful photo care package with a gorgeous and thoughtful wedding planning book. As we got closer to our wedding, we felt relaxed because Millie had planned all of the details and made sure to know exactly what we wanted and desired for the big day (and then organized everything into a very detailed timeline). On our wedding, Millie was the perfect photographer, capturing every special moment and fitting in perfectly alongside our loved ones. I could go on and on. Millie is kind, professional and hardworking. She was always on time and met deadlines. I would recommend her to everyone for their photography needs. You won't be disappointed!

Tati And Roman

5.0

New York, NY
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $6,000

We are a married couple of photographers. Within years of career, we discovered what’s really matters - we want to make people happy. Weddings have it all: new interesting people, touching stories, warm family relationships, tears. A lot of tears! Oh, don’t forget dances and sparklers! So, it’s fun! 🙂 Also, we love weddings because it’s the most challenging kind of photography in the field, it combines all the genres. It make you think, move and react quickly in constantly changing surrounding. We have no room for mistakes. So It’s never boring! 🙂

Awarded Best of Zola
We absolutely loved working with Tati and Roman!! We knew that we wanted to work with them immediately after our first conversation with Tati. Having two photographers was a key differentiator for us because we knew that it would allow us to capture all of the important moments from our wedding day. Tati and Roman are both so genuinely warm, kind, and very easy to work with. They were quick to respond to all of our questions leading up to our wedding and also helped us organize our day-of-timeline in a way that allowed us to get all of the photos that we wanted while also providing us with plenty of time to be present and have fun with friends and family. Tati and Roman made us and all of our friends and family feel comfortable when taking photos and provided guidance when needed to ensure that we got the perfect shots. We were blown away when we got our wedding photos and are so happy with how they turned out! Tati and Roman captured all of the beautiful and authentic moments from that night and you can feel the love that was in the room. We cannot thank Tati and Roman enough and are so happy that we were able to work with them.

Creative Photojournalism & Cinematic Video by PSPi

5.0

New York, NY
  • Photojournalistic style

We are a family owned and operated studio delivering Photography & Cinematic Video. What started with my father who opened our first studio in Brooklyn, New York in 1992, has evolved into a spectacular studio that captures moments candidly for you to share with friends and family. At PSPi we tell your wedding day story in a new style. A style that blends photo journalism with an unobtrusive cinematic approach. Bringing back that powerful and emotional experience to a product that is personal, unique, modern and artistic.

My wedding day was perfect thanks to PSPi. He was professional, funny and extremely kind and creative. He knew all the perfect shots to capture. My wedding day was so hot and he dealt with me being cranky and sweaty and didn’t complain about the heat once. He also gave us over 3k photos to look through which was seriously amazing and it took us forever (in a good way) to go through all of the insanely beautiful shots from our special day. My guests were also talking about how great he was and love the photos so much. 10/10 would recommend!!!!!

Shelby Phillips Photography

5.0

New York, NY
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $4,250

hey you! thanks for dropping by. my name is shelby, and i am a queer artist and manhattan based photographer who specializes in weddings + equine portraiture. my priority as a photographer is developing a personal relationship with each and every one of my clients (two or four legged). your special moments are their most pure when you are comfortable and ready to just have fun, and i am here to create that joyful space.

Awarded Best of Zola
Shelby Phillips impressed me from the start. Before reaching out to her via email in the summer of 2018, I took some time to learn about her. From her personal blog, I learned that she is a graduate of NYU, that she loves photographing horses, that she is also an actor and a writer, and that she has a passion for bringing moments to life through photography. From looking at her curated selection of photographs on her website, I quickly learned that she cares about the minor gestures, the subtleties of a moment, and the play of light. At the time I found her (in 2018), I believe wedding photography was not her main focus; it seemed that she photographed more four-legged animals than did two-legged ones. I personally did not mind this one bit; rather, I found her versatility as a photographer to be a source of strength. If she could capture emotion and beauty without outward displays of emotions and beauty, then that speaks to her craft as an artist. I found her gentle and personal touch to photography to resonate deeply with me, and I also appreciated how she wrote about her life experiences in her blog. Here was a passionate young woman who not only observes the world with her eyes, but also attunes to it with her heart fully open. There was so much feeling evoked in both her writing and her photographs. There was so much vibrancy in her black-and-white captures. I was immediately hooked. I dedicate a whole blog post to Shelby here: https://www.booksmartstreetsmart.com/blog/2019/an-intimate-wedding-my-search-for-a-local-new-york-city-wedding-photographer Here's another snipped from my experience working with Shelby: The 5-minute walk to the wedding venue felt like eternity (in a good way!). I opted for an impractically long train for my wedding dress (I’m old-fashioned at heart!) so my younger sister dedicatedly carried it as I walked ahead of her. There were many stares from strangers along the way, but honestly, I did not pay attention because I was so focused on taking small steps so that I would not trip, or worse, get my heels stuck between the cracks in the sidewalk. It was past 5pm and the sun was blazing hot, but because we were situated right by the water, there was an occasional gentle breeze. Shelby was particularly excited about the wind, because it paved the way for some truly magnificent “action shots.” As I slowly made my way to the venue with my sister directly behind me, and my mother and soon-to-be mother-in-law next to us, Shelby was quick on her feet, capturing the magic in the small moments, while playing with the light. As I look back on the photographs that she took of that day, I am amazed by how she chased the light throughout the day and into the evening, how she beautifully brought life into still photographs, and how she managed to capture all our family and friends in a way that reflects each person’s personality. Today, when I visit Shelby’s website, I immediately notice that it has grown substantially. Since I signed my wedding photography contract, Shelby has taken on many other weddings, bringing life to a blank canvas by means of her camera lens, coupled with her eye for precious moments. I am so pleased to know that she is doing well, and that her dedication to her craft has paid off. PS. It is now 2021 and Shelby and I are still in touch! :) Thank you Shelby <3

Kim-Trang Photography

After working 10+ years in corporate America in NYC, California and traveling the globe, I found myself wanting more than what the traditional career path had set for me. I stumbled into photography while I was on maternity leave with my oldest and started a side hustle that I had no idea was going to turn into a complete career change years later. From the very first wedding I shot, I knew I was onto something. And ever since then, I haven't looked back.

Awarded Best of Zola
From our first conversation to now (months post wedding), Kim has been INCREDIBLE! Please stop looking for a photographer and hire Kim. When we first started searching for a photographer, we were struck by Kim's ability to capture the genuine emotion in each and every photograph. We were lucky enough to work with Kim for both an engagement session and our wedding. Spending your wedding day with Kim is like spending the day with one of your best friends. Her warmth and sense of humor instantly makes you feel comfortable. She captured our day exactly how we experienced it. Kim seamlessly fit in with our families and friends. She even worked pure magic on our 3 flower girls and ring bearer (all under the age of 5!!). We treasure our beautiful photos and are so grateful to Kim for her talent, patience, and kindness throughout the entire process. You hire a photographer and end up with a wonderful friend!

I'm in love with human emotions, either it's laughing till it hurts or tears of happiness. When your man hugs you so strong, that you can't breathe or when your dad is crying (for the first time in his life!) listening to your vows at the altar. I do believe, that these un-staged moments are more meaningful than classy portraits on a sunset (but no worries, you'll plenty of both!) If you feel like we are on the same page - let's talk! Write me a few words about who you are, tell me your story and let's create something beautiful together!

We've had our first love story photoshoot with her this spring. Both of us were so shy and new to this, but Dasha not only made us feel comfortable but also be ourselves! All the posing and picture ideas, we didn't have to worry about. And finally, the pictures came out amazing! We were so happy with the photoshoot process and the photos that we knew we wanted her to be our wedding photographer. Dasha was with us from early morning till almost midnight and we couldn't be happier! I even felt like she was one of my bridesmaids and closest friends, always helping around and making me feel less nervous! We just got our wedding pictures a few days back and we just wanted to share them all at once! We're very happy with our choice!! Thank You Dasha for everything!

As a lover of history I love capturing personal and family histories that surround weddings.

Welcome to Gretchen Robinette Photography, where I invite you to experience the world through my lens. I hired Gretchen Robinette to take my engagement photos to get to know one another before our wedding date. She did not disappoint! She made us feel so comfortable posing during our engagement session, that we were so grateful to have her photograph our wedding. She mingled with guests and got tons of great images of them, as well as all the details we missed being so caught up with the days agenda. We (Melissa & Michael) became wedding photographers because we truly believe we have something different to bring to the table. Our goals are simple: to help you relive each moment of your wedding day every time you look at your images, make you feel comfortable in front of the camera, and blend into the crowd like we're your guests. We pride ourselves on open & honest communication with our couples, a seamless booking-through-wedding-day process, super speedy photo delivery, and lending a helping hand in any way we can.

I can't say enough good things about Melissa! From the moment we first talked, I just knew she was the one we wanted for our wedding. On the big day, she was absolutely incredible, capturing every perfect moment with such an amazing eye for detail. Melissa's photojournalism style was exactly what we were looking for. She has this talent for blending candid moments with beautifully posed shots, and the pictures she took with film have this gorgeous, timeless feel to them. Plus, she was so calm and reassuring throughout the day, anticipating everything we needed before we even knew we needed it. We booked her for 10 hours to make sure we got "the most" coverage, including our rehearsal dinner and an engagement shoot, and her team did a fantastic job with the videography too. If you're looking for a photographer who will go above and beyond to make your wedding day unforgettable, Melissa is the one. We couldn't be happier with our photos and videos. Highly recommend her to anyone and everyone!

I've always bought a strong work ethic to anything I do (thanks Dad), if I am chosen to be your wedding photographer you will get my full attention and devotion to produce the most beautiful and complete coverage of your wedding that 20 years of experience can deliver. I work hard and stay incredibly focused because I know that every moment cannot be repeated. I love what I do and it shows in the work.

Working with Craig and his team was an absolute highlight of the wedding day. He is the epitome of thoughtful and professional. Craig was incredibly organized in advance of our event. He asked for a schedule of the day so he could figure out where he and his team needed to be and when. He helped us layout all the shots we wanted to make sure we got and nailed EVERY ONE. He was the perfect balance of present and invisible. And not only that, the pictures are INSANELY GORGEOUS. We made a stunning album from his images and look at it all the time. I cannot recommend Craig and his team enough.

I'm just an 80's born, 90's raised millennial photographer who wants to shoot passionate couples and have his avocado toast too. My approach to photography is journalistic, directed not posed. My approach to a wedding day is calm, attentive, easy-going, non-intrusive without being awkwardly shy, and always with a smile.

We absolutely loved working with Hector for our engagement photos. The experience itself was a blast - we truly had so much fun shooting and he made us feel comfortable and relaxed, which is exactly what comes through in every single photo. The final product is beyond what we could have imagined and we have not stopped getting compliments from family and friends. We are booking him for our wedding and know he will take beautiful photos to help us remember the day!

I would describe myself as a minimalist on the outside, Liberace on the inside. Obsessed with: dogs, dog-like cats, oysters, urban planning, and really excellent stand-up comedy. I'm originally from the majestic state of New Jersey, and live in the Ditmars section of Astoria, Queens. When I'm not photographing weddings, you can bet I'm either reading or writing fiction (currently working on a project set in Pennsylvania coal country, where my grandfather grew up), watching or rewatching great television

I have been sitting on doing a review for Alexis for a while now because I can't even find the words to describe how thrilled we are with our photographs. From the very start she was an absolute joy to work with by being so helpful and sweet throughout our planning process. We did not want the conventional "posed" wedding pictures- we were going for a much more genuine journalistic/ documentary approach. The candid moments are the types of pictures that break your heart with awe. You can literally hear the laughter, tears, music and clinking of glasses as you scroll through the shots. She captured the beauty of our venue in ways we did not even have the chance to appreciate during the whirlwind of the day. Our favorite part is how she was so natural and calm (even with our overwhelming doting Italian family) that there were times we didn't even notice she was there. She was voyeuristic at the best times and yet in moments where it was hectic and we felt overwhelmed she was instrumental, extremely organized and provided structure. She also was so much fun! On top of her eye for BRILLIANT photography, she has an amazing sense of humor. My friend snapchatted me dancing like a mad woman to Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance With Somebody and in the corner of the frame Alexis (unbeknownst she was being filmed) is taking pictures of the party and singing along to the song- having a blast! That 7 second clip speaks volumes about her sparkling personality. She truly loves what she does and it shows in the amazing finished product. Additionally she was a wonderful resource for planning. She very much understands the "Out of the Box" bride that wants something a little more different and unique and she is great at giving advice on all aspects of a wedding. The compliments about our pictures are endless! We keep finding ourselves pouring over the album over and over again, reliving and savoring every special moment Alexis gave back to us.

My studio represents six award winning principal photographers each with an amazing editorial and photojournalistic eye. They've been shooting with me from 6 to 14 years and are exceptional experts in their fields. That's why I choose them, trained them and that's why they stick with the studio.

We cannot recommend Kang and Brian Dorsey Studios enough! Kang did an engagement photo shoot for us as well as our wedding photos and was so kind and patient throughout the entire process. He made us feel very comfortable being ourselves in front of the camera. We told Kang that we wanted to just have moments captured rather than manufactured and he did a beautiful job getting amazing shots without us feeling like we were having to do forced poses the entire time. On top of that, the quality of the photos was absolutely incredible. Kang was punctual, professional, and truly went the extra mile to make sure we got all of the shots that were important to us on such a special day. Thanks to Kang and the entire Brian Dorsey Studio teams we have a wide array of timeless, beautiful photos to choose from.

I stay behind the camera because I'm more than a little introverted. That is, until I get to know people. Then I open up and we can talk about movies, music, dogs (I'm happy to show you pictures and videos of my rescue dog). I love what I do because I get to capture moments between you and the most important people in your life that you'll be able to relive for decades to come!

I’ve known Casey for many years and always look forward to working with him. He’s incredibly down to earth, very kind, quiet, and funny. On a day that is full of emotion, anticipation, and nervous energy, Casey’s relaxed temperament & sense of humor helps couples to relax and brings out their natural smiles & expressions. He has years of professional experience and knows exactly what moments to capture. Casey is genuine and has no show off attitude about him—he’s the perfect choice for real people who want to spend their wedding day with a great guy who will put them at ease & make them look awesome.

Grace is incredible and a photo miracle worker! I had been in the hospital the day before and my fiancé had been up most of the night working. We still went to our engagement session as scheduled and I had more or less written it off since the two of us were struggling to stand up straight, let alone pose for photos that day! Yet somehow Grace got amazing shots of us! So happy with the results, not to mention Grace is a pleasure to work with. Thanks Grace!

We worked with Jon for our civil wedding photos in Brooklyn Heights and couldn't be happier with the whole process. From the moment we got in touch with him for the first time until the handoff of all the photos, the experience was seamless. His extremely organised work methodology made everything smooth and easy. We spent two hours with him walking around Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO, and the result was a great variety of photos. Jon's got a special eye for lighting, composition and editing. On top of everything, his personality while working made it possible for us to act natural in front of the camera. 100% recommend working with him. It will be fun and the final edits will be memorable.

Laura is wonderful to work with! Laura's style of photography is what had originally drawn us to her; her ability to capture candid moments and how she always seems to get the perfect lighting! The photos she took completely captured the overall warm and loving vibe of our wedding. She must be some sort of magician... or just the best possible wedding photographer... Booking her was easy. She was easy to get in touch with and was always prompt to respond. I'm glad we booked her early to lock in our date. She is a very popular photographer and she books up fast! We met Laura before our wedding to go over the details of the venue and timeline of the night. She is a pro so she can make any venue, even the warehouse we booked, look bright and not dark and dingy. Day of, Laura came happy and ready to shoot. Our portraits with parents and the bridal party were not only beautiful, taken in a field, but also super fun! Laura knows how to make you feel good about yourself when she's shooting you! She was also making jokes which helped make us all comfortable. The ceremony and reception pictures were just breathtaking! She captured how funny our officiant was, our special "I do" moment and of course our first kiss as husband and wife! During our reception, we had circus performers lead the guests in hula hooping and juggling... Laura was able to get some amazing action shots on the fly! Overall, Laura is the absolute best. She was the perfect photographer for our special day and I cannot imagine having someone else in her place! She is so talented, sweet, punctual and professional; all things you want and need in a photographer! We love her and will be hiring her in the future for family portraits!

About wedding photographers in New York, NY

How much does a wedding photographer typically cost in New York, NY?

A New York, NY wedding photographer ranges from $400 to $20,000 and averages at $3,000. The cost reflects the number of hours included, if there is a second photographer, any prints or albums, and, most importantly, the experience of the photographer. But every snapshot they take is a priceless memory of your big day — way better than your bestie's blurry smartphone pics, right?

Do most photographers include a second photographer?

94% of photographers in New York, NY offer a second photographer, although it typically depends on the package you book! Second photographers are helpful because one person can’t be everywhere at once, and the second photographer ensures all the details are covered.

Which are the most popular photographers in New York, NY?

Some of the most popular photographers in this area include The Pros Weddings, SweetEmms Photography and Ashley Cynthia Photography.

What else should I keep in mind when booking a wedding photographer?

Are you interested in an engagement shoot as a test run? Drone photography? Wedding albums? All helpful things to ask about when you’re considering which wedding photographer to book!

What questions should I ask a wedding photographer in NYC?

It can be hard to know exactly what you should be looking for when you’re first exploring wedding photographers. You might want to ask questions like, "How do you capture the essence of 'us'?" or "How do you balance capturing our must have shot list without missing out on unexpected candid moments?" Don't forget the nitty-gritty, either. Inquire about their portfolio, if they've shot at your venue before, and how they navigate New York City’s unpredictable elements (because who hasn't seen a taxi photobomb?). Check out our full list of questions to ask your wedding photographer for even more info.

How long does it take to receive wedding photos in NYC?

Picture this: you've said your vows, had the time of your life at the reception, and now you're back from your honeymoon, eager to relive it all through your photos. But you might need to wait a minute, because good things take time! Most NYC wedding photographers will ask for a 4 to 8-week grace period to finalize your photos. They're carefully sifting through the raw emotions and dance-floor shenanigans to deliver a gallery that's as epic as your love story. We know how eager you are to relive those moments, but your stunning snaps will be worth the wait.

How many images are typically included in a wedding photo package?

Wedding photo packages in NYC are as varied as the city itself, but on average, you might see anything from 300 to 700 finished photos. But hey, it’s not just about quantity, it’s the heart-stopping, tear-jerking quality that counts. Make sure to chat with your photographer about what's important to you – maybe it's those candid laughs during the toast or that magical first dance. So, whether you’re aiming for a minimalist album or an epic visual novella of your day, rest assured you'll have enough photos to keep your memories fresh and your heart full!

Are engagement sessions typically included in wedding photography packages in New York City?

Looking for a photographer to capture the excitement of your engagement, too? Look no further. Many New York wedding photographers bundle engagement photo sessionsinto your wedding package, or will add them on at a reduced rate. It's like a romantic pre-game show where you and your SO can get over some of the camera-shyness. Plus, it's a fantastic way to test the waters with your photographer before the big day so you can make sure they’re a perfect fit (and to capture some great shots for your save the dates!).
