Winona’s

5.0

  • Up to 58 guests
  • All-inclusive
  • Indoor
  • Starts at $12,500

Winona’s is a family-run restaurant, all-day café and natural wine bar from partners Cressida Greening and Emir Dupeyron, nestled in Northern Bed-Stuy. Anchored by seasonally-driven dishes, thoughtfully curated natural wine, and community events with guest chefs, wine experts and food activists. Winona’s started as an extension of supper clubs regularly hosted in our apartment right next door, where we gathered friends and strangers around one long table. The space was designed to evolve from our dining room where we could continue to bring people together. We hope to offer our guests an experience that is not limited by time but where lingering over dessert or conversation is encouraged.

Awarded Best of Zola
Winona's is such an incredibly beautiful space and the food is always delicious. They also have a great sound system which is a huge plus. Cressida is easy to work with and clear in her communications, and does everything she can to make sure people are taken care of and have a good time. We highly recommend!

I love photographing weddings at Manhatta restaurant in downtown Manhattan. The team at Manhatta couldn't have been more professional, accommodating and friendly! The last couple I photographed at Manhatta had such a great time, which was evident in the joy and love in the photos. The rooms were infused with light and a beautiful warm glow at sunset. The views of the city were breathtaking - the guests were very impressed. There was ample room for the couple of have a band perform and to also dance the night away with all of their family and friends. I highly recommend this venue!

Peasant Restaurant

5.0

New York, NY
  • Up to 75 guests
  • Select services
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $20,000

Located in NoLita, Peasant was taken over by Chef Marc Forgione in 2019 after taking over the 22 year old restaurant from Frank DeCarlo . Featuring a wood fire kitchen with innovative Italian dishes, Peasant's menu is perfect for engagement parties, wedding showers, rehearsal dinners and weddings. . Our open kitchen main dining room can accommodate up to 70 guests for a seated dinner or up to 120 guests for cocktail receptions.

We had the best night of our lives at Peasant celebrating our wedding. We chose this restaurant because we always loved the food and romantic cozy atmosphere. When we had to quickly pivot our wedding plans to a smaller venue (4 weeks from our date!), they were our first call. The team at Peasant sprang into action and delivered the wedding we always dreamed of. We had our ceremony in front of the beautiful brick oven. We barely decorated the space because it's already so gorgeous. Our 70 guests sat at long tables for an incredible family style meal. The space quickly transformed into a dance floor, and a friend of ours DJ'd our favorite music. If you're looking for an intimate venue where you can relax and soak up the pure joy of your wedding day, Peasant has the vibes. Our guests still rave about the rigatoni alla vodka, the espresso martinis, and the kindness of the team months later. We keep going back for dates because we can't possibly get enough, and Peasant will always hold a special place in our hearts.

We hosted our intimate wedding reception(20 people) here in September. The vibe, drinks & food were all amazing! Stuff: We really appreciated that the event team was very responsive and flexible and super nice! They pleasantly accommodated all of our super last minute changes. There were some unexpected incidents (the cake from our bakery didn't arrive on time), but the event team was very thoughtful and helped us to still make our day special, which meant so much to us! Food & Drinks: Highly recommend adding the restaurant's speciality cocktails to the open bar if you are hosting a party, all of the guests loved them, especially the cappuccino martini. Everyone loved meatballs! The food portion is quite big, you wouldn't have to worry about not feeding your guests enough.

The Standard, East Village

4.0

New York, NY
  • Up to 50 guests
  • Select services
  • Indoor & outdoor

Located off Cooper Square in one of New York’s most vibrant, artistic neighborhoods, The Standard, East Village is cozy, charming, and eccentric in equal measure—very much in the spirit of its surroundings. You enter the 21-story tower through an original tenement-style building before ascending to unparalleled views of Manhattan from the hotel's crowned jewel, The Penthouse. There’s a quiet, calm garden tucked away at street level that in the warmer months is filled with lush topiaries and floral arrangements, and in the cold season transforms into a magical winter wonderland. On the second floor, The Overlook is a cozy room perfect for a rehearsal dinner or cocktails, connected to The Perch which overlooks The Garden. Downstairs, there's Narcissa restaurant, which boasts its own private terrace, the street-side Café Standard, and NO BAR, a highly inclusive new wave gay bar with custom artwork and a disco ball.

Having never been privy to what goes into a wedding reception, I was in the dark about a lot. So, I had difficulty understanding what to choose and how much our choices would cost. If it wasn’t for the close proximity to the church, I may have chosen a different venue for our reception. The food and beverage was the biggest expense and the biggest source of confusion. The real disappointment of the F&B was the limited amount of food. The shrimp appetizer was good. However, there was so little, if you didn’t grab some, it was gone. Of the three entrees to choose from, the only one that was any good was the fish and the portion was less than one would reasonably expect for an entree. The chicken was dry and hard, a huge disappointment. The lemon tart dessert was good. The space itself is very nice. Fortunately, it was just the right size for our reception.

When is the best month for a wedding in New York City?

This is one of those questions that everyone will have a different answer to. The best time to get married in NYC really depends on your vision for your wedding. Is it when Central Park is a wonderland of cherry blossoms, or when the holiday lights make everything twinkle like a rom-com set? Weather-wise, May and June are your best bets for an outdoor wedding. But if you’re dreaming of an "Autumn in New York" aesthetic, aim for September or October when the air is crisp, and your guests won’t be sweating. But let's keep it real – in the city that never sleeps, love doesn't have an off-season, and neither do fabulous weddings. Winter nuptials? You could end up with a magical snowy vibe, and you’ll probably save some money. So ultimately, you can’t go wrong.

How far in advance do I need to book a wedding venue in New York City?

In the fast-paced whirlwind that is NYC, wedding venues can be booked up pretty far in advance. It's a good rule of thumb to start your venue hunt as soon as your engagement bliss begins to settle—usually around 12 to 18 months in advance, and to actually book your venue closer to 9-14 months in advance. If you've set your heart on those prime dates or sought-after spots, earlier is definitely better. Think of it as your very own New York minute—the sooner you act, the more options you'll have. But if you're the spontaneous type or planning on a shorter engagement, don't fret! Flexibility on dates or considering unique or off-the-beaten-path venues can turn up some hidden gems, even at the last minute.
