My husband and I were looking for a high value, reasonably-priced venue in the Brookly area and we found it in DEITY. We were immediately impressed by DEITY wedding packages. We were able to find a package that best fit our vision and budget. It’s really hard to imagine that we could have gotten a better deal for our money anywhere else, especially when you consider that the tax is already baked in upfront without any hidden surprises. DEITY is amazing, we couldn’t have picked a better venue for our small and intimate wedding. The whole staff was very friendly and very accommodating, Anna our event coordinator was always very helpful and guided us with any questions we had. The food was excellent, the table setup was perfect with the family style setting. The Chef was so hospitable, he stopped by to make sure we were pleased with the food. The bottom line is, on the day of our event, DEITY showed up and executed flawlessly, from the decor, to the food, to the event management. We have been getting non-stop compliments from our friends and family about how awesome the wedding was and how much fun they had. Can’t thank the team from DEITY enough for making our day so memorable. If we had to choose DEITY time and time again, we unequivocally will! - The Roberts

Lizzie jumped in as our wedding planner midway through the planning process and didn’t miss a beat! She made every part of the process so seamless. She really took the time to get to know us and our style/preferences and recommended vendors that fit our needs perfectly. Every request was met with a positive attitude and a willingness to make anything work. It was so nice to have a roadmap and to be able to focus on the big picture, knowing that all of the little details were being taken care of. The day of our wedding was totally stress-free and executed perfectly so that we were able to enjoy our time with loved ones. We didn’t even find out until after the event that our pizza order for the after-party had been cancelled! Lizzie somehow made sure it still showed up as expected. Steven Rosen Photography

5.0

Brooklyn, NY
  • Photographer
  • Fine art style
  • Starts at $2,200

I have been a photographer for the last 20 years, shooting weddings, elopements and portraits. I'm proud to have shot more than 150 same-sex weddings, which is probably more than, well, just about anyone. That said, I’ve worked with as many straight couples as LGBTQ ones. I don't discriminate. There are many other photographers whose work inspire me, but my primary inspiration comes from painters. Rembrandt, Vermeer, Sargent, to name a few.

Awarded Best of Zola
Steven photographed our wedding and prepared photos and an album for us. His work throughout was excellent, from input on a schedule for photos during the event, to posing the family and guests, suggesting positive changes to some steps of the ceremony, capturing great moments, keeping the day on track, and working with us on the album. His layout and editing for the album were terrific, very professional, attentive to themes and telling the story through images, and with a great eye for combinations. We recommend Steven without hesitation for your special days!

Hey there, my name is Bailey! I am an artist, business woman, wifey, nerd, Brooklyn-ite, and matcha fiend who’s endlessly curious about the world around me. I strive to make the world better by capturing love authentically, spreading positivity & happiness, and supporting organizations that are doing the work to preserve our planet & enrich the lives of marginalized communities. With my whole heart, I unapologetically embrace inclusivity & all forms of love.

We are incredibly happy with our wedding photos! Bailey really has "the eye." Her artsy and elegant photos are magazine-worthy and really tell a story. If you're looking for the opposite of cheesy wedding photography, your search ends here. I was already quite certain I was going to book Bailey based on her portfolio alone, but the introductory video phone call sealed the deal. Bailey's warm and friendly personality really puts you at ease, and by the time our wedding day(s) (an elopement and later reception) arrived, it felt like we were having our pictures taken by a dear friend.

Maria was very quick in responding to any questions that we had and was accommodating to making sure she gave us enough time to work with us that morning. Hi! I'm Sarah. Congratulations on taking the next step in your wedding planning! Choosing to work with me earns you more than just a photographer; you get a hype-girl, a dress fluffer, a confidant and a new best friend. Since we are now future besties, here's what you should know about me: My love for portraiture stems from the joy it brings me to make others feel beautiful. Few things make me feel as giddy as photographing weddings, engagements & proposals, and I can't wait to capture the next stage of your love story. My strengths lie in natural lighting, illuminating colors, and catching the candid moments that make you, you.

Awarded Best of Zola
We opted for an intimate City Hall ceremony before we host larger celebrations with friends and family, and Sarah was the PERFECT choice for our special day as our witness-photographer. She ensured we were prepared and that she understood our vision in advance, and she immediately made us feel so comfortable day-of. Wedding jitters? Awkward poses? Not here!! It was so fun to be photographed by Sarah, like hanging out with a friend who works magic with a camera. She knows exactly how to prompt you to get your best angles. We got all the shots we wanted and more, and she captured the light, movement and emotion of the day beautifully despite it being mid-February, i.e. below freezing and windswept! It was a magical experience and we can’t stop looking at our photos. We’re grateful to Sarah for making our (first) wedding day so memorable and delivering such a gorgeous gallery. She even got a few pics to us that same day so we could send them to our families. Five stars, highly recommend, no notes!

We had the most incredible experience hosting our wedding at Brooklyn Winery, and I can’t rave enough about how perfect everything was! From the moment we stepped into the venue, we knew it was the perfect place to celebrate our big day. The ambiance at Brooklyn Winery is absolutely stunning—charming, intimate, and full of character, with its rustic yet elegant vibe that made our wedding feel truly special. The space itself is beautiful, and we received countless compliments from our guests on how unique and unforgettable the venue was. It set the most perfect tone for the celebration. A huge shout-out to Miranda, our event manager, who was nothing short of amazing throughout the entire planning process. From our first meeting to the wedding day itself, Miranda was incredibly detail-oriented, organized, and genuinely invested in making sure everything went smoothly. She was there every step of the way, taking care of all the little things and answering all our questions with patience and professionalism. She made sure our vision came to life seamlessly, and we felt completely at ease knowing we were in such capable hands. The food was another highlight that our guests cannot stop talking about. Brooklyn Winery's culinary team knocked it out of the park, and so many of our guests said it was the best wedding food they've ever had! The dishes were delicious, beautifully presented, and truly elevated the overall experience. The pairing of food and wine was just perfect, and it felt so fitting for the venue itself. One of the things that truly sets Brooklyn Winery apart is how they take care of every detail—big and small. They made the entire planning process easy and stress-free, from the initial consultation to the final execution. Miranda and the team ensured that everything was coordinated perfectly, so we could focus on enjoying our day rather than worrying about logistics. We honestly can’t recommend Brooklyn Winery enough! Our wedding was a dream come true, and we’ve had so many guests tell us it was one of the best weddings they’ve ever attended. If you’re looking for a venue with amazing food, beautiful ambiance, and a team that goes above and beyond, look no further. Thank you, Brooklyn Winery and Miranda, for making our day absolutely unforgettable!

Aria was lovely to work with throughout the entire planning process. We wanted to keep our flower arrangements relatively simple since our venue had incredible city skyline views. Aria did an fabulous job of selecting beautiful and unique blooms for the bouquets, boutonnières, tables, and of course the stunning arch for the ceremony. Aria was very professional (and most importantly discrete!) while working with the bride to coordinate the flowers with a floral gown without letting on about the dress design to the groom.

If you're the kind of couple that would prefer their photographer feel like one of the guests as opposed to a paparazzi, and if when the neighbors complain about the noise, you just invite them to the party, keep reading. I take a documentary-style approach to my weddings. Roaming with a camera, I capture the candid moments and small details that make your wedding unique to you, while making sure to set aside time for a few special portraits.

Awarded Best of Zola
Steph is a wizard, ninja, and a unicorn all rolled into one. From the minute we reached out to her she immediately made us know we were in good hands. She was clear, communicative, and professional, but every time we talked it still felt like talking to an old friend. (Several of our guests assumed that she WAS an old friend of ours who happened to be a photographer — that’s how warm and chill she is.) Ahead of time she was great about getting details of exactly what we wanted, so that on the big day she just slipped in and out seamlessly without pulling us away from the fun. She was also careful to figure out exactly what we wanted the vibes of the final product to be (candid, colorful, joyful) and she delivered in spades. The finished products are beautiful and were delivered quickly (both the digital copies and the physical prints we ordered). We cannot recommend her highly enough!

With over ten years of experience shooting weddings in and around New York City, Sandy brings her eye for storytelling to each event she shoots, searching for genuine emotion and candid moments that capture every couple in a timeless way. Published in Brides, New York Weddings and Brooklyn Bride, Sandy's work walks the line between fine art and documentary photography, allowing each day to unfold naturally and be remembered artfully for decades to come.

Awarded Best of Zola
We're so happy we chose Sandy to photograph our wedding. She captures emotion beautifully, and her pictures feel like true works of art. I struggled to find a photographer I loved — I think a lot of wedding photography can look cheesy, posed and stuffy — but when I saw Sandy's work, I was obsessed. Not only does her style have a natural, laidback sensibility, but it captures nature beautifully. Our wedding in a scenic spot in upstate NY, and her photos truly do the landscape justice. I loved that she shoots with both digital and color/black-and-white film. We got a great range of photos that captured the elegant-yet-relaxed vibe we were going for. She's also such an easygoing and sweet person, and it was a joy to have her by our sides all day. We highly recommend her!

When we say Taylor EXCEEDED our expectations, we truly mean that. From start to finish Taylor was such a calming and supportive presence in our lives. During the planning portion of our event, Taylor communicated with all of our vendors and made sure we were always on the same page. She was organized and had all of our contracts, seating charts, floor plans etc all in one google doc making it extremely easy to follow and stay on track. She was always responsive and answered every single question we could possibly have. As the wedding got closer, we had weekly calls to make sure we tied up any loose ends and that all the vendors were on the same page. The wedding day was beyond perfect. Taylor looked like a boss woman the whole time with her clipboard and made sure that she was keeping everyone in line and on track of time. There were a few times when things didn’t go as planned like having to move the ceremony inside due to rain and changing the floorpan last minute but she handled that with STRIDE. She made all the executive decisions and explained them to us calmly. We trusted that no matter what, she would make the best decision for us in the end and she 100% did! Everything ended up working out better than planned and we will be talking about this day for years to come. At the end of the event, Taylor helped all the vendors pack everything up and out of the venue and made sure that nothing was left behind. We could not recommend her enough as your wedding planner. She is strong, resilient and intelligent. She is organized, reliable and knows exactly what she is doing! You can really see how much she loves what she does and how she strives to be the best she can be every step of the way. Shout out to her assistant Joy for everything she had her hands on, including being so delicate and gentle while steaming my heavy wedding dress and taking some incredible behind the scenes shots of our day and for just being another amazing person to rely on. We couldn’t have asked for a better team!!!!

Awarded Best of Zola
Where to even begin! First off, my wife and I had a fairly large wedding for NYC, roughly 200 people, so when we started to look at venues, we were so nervous about what we would find. Rule of Thids was actually the first venue we saw, and we were blown away by the space. If you’re renting out the full venue, you get access to the entire restaurant, plus the event space, as well as the outdoor area. It makes the flow of the wedding so nice, so everyone wasn’t crammed into one space as they were trying to flip it for the ceremony, dinner, and dancing. We were also able to rent out the photo studio attached to the sake shop to get ready in, so we were on-site all day, which was AMAZING. We could easily discuss things with our day-of coordinator, florist, etc., and the space was so large and had impeccable light (our makeup artist and hair stylist were super happy with it!). We chose to use the venue coordinator, Julie, as our day of coordinator, and we cannot say enough good things about her. She was incredibly responsive, super organized, and comes from the wedding industry, so she brought up things that we didn’t even think to consider for the day of that were so helpful. Beyond that, she was so pleasant to work with and just had an amazing, chill vibe that everyone wants from their coordinator on the wedding day. It was also amazing that she works at the venue, so she knew all the ins and outs of the space and could easily coordinate with our other vendors. She helped ensure the bridal party was in the right places at the right time, moved people from room to room when needed, and helped us stay on track with the flow of the wedding, which was perfect and so seamless. She and the ROT team set up the entire space exactly as we envisioned, and everything looked beautiful! The venue is honestly perfect for a wedding. We were able to use private dining spaces in the venue for a photobooth and coat closet, plenty of bathrooms (not something you think about until you go to a wedding with too few!), an amazing outdoor space for guests to cool down/get away from the noise, a huge dance floor area, spacious dining room, and so many bars for our guests to go to. The staff were all amazing, endlessly refilling drinks and food, and everyone was incredibly nice. Even after all of the amazing things above, the best part about Rule of Thirds is the food. From the cocktail hour to the dessert, this food is amazing and well beyond typical wedding standards. We had so many guests tell us how good everything was, and we were told this was the first wedding at the venue where every single canape and raw bar item was eaten, so our guests were very happy! (if you can, splurge on the raw bar because it was so good!!) After the ceremony, they set up a spot for us to sample all the canapes and raw bar items, which we were super thankful for since we would never have eaten anything otherwise. We also had a very specific request for a mazeman noodle dish we had eaten when we toured the space a year prior, and the chef and team made it happen for us, which was AMAZING and so incredibly delicious. If you’re looking for a wedding venue and considering Rule of Thirds, DO IT! We wish we could relive the day all over again because it was so amazing, and we will forever be hoping someone else we know gets married here so we can experience something similar again.

Raquel was my coordinator but doubled as my wedding therapist throughout the three months! Any wedding related question we had, Raquel was always there with a very thoughtful and speedy email response. Starting at 5pm the night before our wedding when she led us through our mini walk-through, to walking down the aisle, I felt completely reassured everything would go as smoothly as possible due to Raquel’s expertise! Raquel and her team are the perfect blend of professionalism and warmth that made our day feel seamless. Her team worked effortlessly behind the scenes on the day of our wedding (even running back to my apartment to pick up forgotten ceremony programs and doing so without me even knowing!). They worked their magic and allowed my husband and I to be the guests of honor rather than the hosts. I wouldn’t have made it through the final stretch of wedding planning without Raquel and her team. I highly recommend Raquel’s coordination; she made our day effortless and unforgettable! If you are lucky enough to have Raquel be a part of your wedding era, you will not regret it. Thank you for everything Raquel, we couldn’t have done it without you!

Violet Hour Floral Design

5.0

Brooklyn, NY
  • Florist

Violet Hour is a recurring daydream brought to life for owner and founder Amy Gilday. After 16 years of practicing law, working with flowers on the side every chance she got, Amy left her job to become a florist. She completed FlowerSchool New York’s floral design program and freelanced with various New York floral designers before beginning to take on her own clients. With the love and support of her amazing wife, two spoiled cats, and dear friends and family, she launched Violet Hour Floral Design in her beloved home of Brooklyn, NY. She’s never been happier.

Amy was an absolute joy to work with. I booked her last minute as the florist I intended to go with was not giving me any confidence that they could execute my vision. Amy in turn was kind, honest, and assured me she could make my small floral arrangements a reality. I had 2 separate occasions and she delivered on both beautifully. The moody purple and grey theme was executed so well and her artistic interpretation was just what I envisioned. Her Boutonnières had magnets to attach them and my husband was thrilled! I had a corsage for our city hall ceremony and a bouquet with individual hair pieces that she had in individual tubes so they would stay as fresh as possible as she delivered them the day before. I was so grateful Amy could accommodate us!!

East River Photographer was great to work with for our wedding. They communicated primarily through Zoom calls and emails, which was convenient for us. Their packages offered good value, and they were flexible in customizing a package that fit our needs. The pictures they captured turned out beautifully and they were able to get excellent coverage of our special day from start to finish. We're thrilled with the final photos and would highly recommend East River Photographer to other couples planning their wedding.

Kendra did the best job with our wedding flowers! At first we were not sure if we even wanted a florist, given the cost of other florists in our area, but at the suggestion of a friend who worked with Kendra for her wedding a few years ago, we gave Kendra a call. She is the nicest florist who didn't make us feel bad for our (relatively) small budget, and worked with us on a beautiful floral scheme that was tasteful but exquisite -- just what we wanted! She went totally above and beyond what we paid for, providing us with a chuppah design that was extraordinary (given that we thought we could only afford something small), and a bridal bouquet/center pieces to die for. She helped us stay within our budget while giving us even more than we could dream of for florals. After speaking with other florists who laughed in our faces about our budget, Kendra was kind, accommodating, and creative with our wedding florals. She is a one-of-a-kind florist and we highly, highly recommend you hire her!

Jillicious Foods & Events

5.0

Brooklyn, NY
  • Caterer
  • Starts at $20,000

Jillicious Foods is an all-in-one catering and event company dedicated to creating inspired, authentic wedding, social and corporate experiences. For us, every client represents a unique opportunity to tell a new and delicious story. Chef Jill has been telling these stories for nearly three decades. We work in a variety of cuisines, from New American to Cajun to Southeast Asian; accommodate all diets, including gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, and pescatarian; and are proud to partner with local farms and purveyors throughout the Hudson Valley and New York City.

We had an absolutely amazing experience working with Jillicious! My husband and I are major foodies so we knew we didn’t want to have standard wedding food at our reception. We started searching for wedding caterers that would work with us to customize the perfect menu for our wedding day. Jillicious did not disappoint! We worked with Chef Jill to put together the most delicious menu of both apps and main courses. Everyone we spoke to after the wedding couldn’t stop raving about how good the food was. It honestly rivaled many of our favorite restaurants in NYC. In addition to the food, Chef Jill and her staff were amazing. They were so responsive throughout the whole wedding process and offered so many great recommendations. On the wedding day, the staff were very helpful with getting the rentals in order, setting up the tables, etc. We also had some guests thank us for how allergy conscious the wedding and staff were. We're so grateful to Jillicious for bringing our vision to life and couldn’t recommend them more! They truly contributed to an absolutely perfect wedding day!

Emma Strachman Makeup Artist

5.0

Brooklyn, NY
  • Beauty professional
  • Team of 5

"A less bridal, more thoughtful makeup approach rooted in genuine hospitality and understated luxury." Editorial forward makeup for the cool, fashion-conscious bride. With 14+ years of experience under her belt, Emma's had the opportunity to share her talent on many TV shows, movies, red carpets, fashion shows, photoshoots, and wedding celebrations.

Awarded Best of Zola
Emma Strachman did my makeup for my wedding last month and totally nailed the look I was going for and made me feel so glamorous in the process. After first booking Emma for a trial, she sent me a thorough inspiration board with celebrities I look (enough) alike to really hone in on my wishes, since I don't normally wear tons of make up. The trial was at my apartment a few months before the wedding and Emma, the complete professional, went through multiple looks with me to make sure I was thrilled. We aligned on the plan forward for the wedding. On wedding day Emma did my make up as well as makeup for two bridesmaids, my mom, MIL, and aunt. Not only did she and her assistant make everyone look like a glammed-up version of themselves, she took the time and care needed for those with more mature skin, skin concerns, and those with questions about the process. In my opinion, booking Emma and her assistant made the day move smooth, as you can tell they are used to fast-paced editorial and commercial scenes, so I could really relax into my big day. She is a complete professional and worth the premium if you want to have a relaxed getting ready time with your friends. I will 100% be recommending Emma to friends and would book her again in a heartbeat!

The venue itself was perfect for our big day. It’s a rustic raw space, but the wood and brick finishes make it warm and inviting. I docked a star because they tried to pull one over on us. When we first booked, they sent a brochure that clearly stated the venue included chiavari chairs, however, when we checked in to confirm the furniture inventory, we were told they never had chiavari chairs and I must be mistaken. When I sent the screenshot and the email with the brochure, they had no explanation. So, I will say this— it’s a nice space, but beware of false advertising.
