I am Carolina Schierholz, the owner and Chef of Sweet Carolina Cakes Studio. I create trendy wedding cakes for couples in Fredericksburg, Northern Virginia, and Maryland. I have 16 years of professional expertise and a background in art and design. All my cakes are custom designed, so you can experience the legitimate luxury of having precisely what you want. Since opening in 2011, Commonwealth Cake Company has become well known for creating delicious confections offering sophisticated flavors and unique designs. What started as a creative outlet quickly transformed into a blossoming business. With a background in the Fine Arts and a love for baking, it's always an amazing journey using cake to create stunning edible masterpieces.

Designed to celebrate natural beauty from the inside out, our cake layers are baked with organic eggs and local ingredients including tri-color carrots, seasonal berries, and even local spirits and craft beer from time to time. We use botanical extracts to naturally color buttercream and style our cakes with wild foraged edible flowers, freshly-plucked herbs, culinary greens and blushing fruits on the vine.

I have been honored to be part of the Charlottesville and Central Virginia local food community since 1993, working as a chef, caterer, baker, barista, and farmer. Now I am using my experience and knowledge of our area, its venues, farms and resources to create one of a kind, delicious desserts.
