E is short for Erin who has loved to bake since her grandma first tied her apron strings when she was little! Her husband Allen is often busy behind the scenes, building display pieces, keeping track of inventory, taste testing (quality control!), and delivering the goods.

The Red Bandana is a happy, healthy little bakery in Bethesda, MD. We like to make people happy with celebratory dessert food but we don’t want to feel guilty about what we’re feeding them so we try to make it as good for their body as it is for their soul. Owner/operator Jaimie Mertz went to culinary school in 2011 with the plan to become a pastry chef, and a year later doctors put her autistic brother Jack on a gluten-free casein-free diet to try to help with some behavioral issues.

Just how sweet is Melissa’s Simply Sweet? Oh so sweet, — and my “oh so sweet” story begins with a unique love for service and commitment to my exclusive craft. My passion for baking began at an early age. After venturing into the hotel industry at the Hotel and Culinary School of Santa Barbara, California, I somehow managed to stumble onto the very unexpected culinary art of baking, and haven’t looked back. I never imagined beginning a career in the culinary industry, but after creating my son's 2nd birthday cake 19 years ago, I fell in love and hit the ground running.

I have been honored to be part of the Charlottesville and Central Virginia local food community since 1993, working as a chef, caterer, baker, barista, and farmer. Now I am using my experience and knowledge of our area, its venues, farms and resources to create one of a kind, delicious desserts. Officially opened in 2021, Pinch & Peck Bakery is a small but busy home-based bake shop located in Herndon, VA. Although Pinch & Peck specializes in custom sugar cookies, the bake shop also includes rotating flavors of cookies, cupcakes and assorted baked items. Pinch & Peck’s owner, Kerrie, is having tons of fun as a small business owner and is loving having her hands on every aspect of the business, especially learning as she grows.

I’m incredibly lucky to be able to create mini works of art in so many different ways using such simple ingredients, all of which are edible. My love of art and baking has made an incredible opportunity to spread happiness in the form of food art, while working from home and enjoying my family.  It brings me so much joy to think of how many wonderful celebrations my work has been a part of.

Deborah grew up cooking with the matriarchs of the family, and now shares those Caribbean rum cakes, Lemon pound, and Brown Sugar pound cakes.

I fell in love with cakes at an early age. As a young man, I started playing around in the kitchen, now 15 years later KSR and Cakes is a full-blown business that includes floral design and decorating. I’ve created hundreds of cakes for a variety of events, including celebrity cakes for Treg Songz, Ms. April (Trey Songz's mother), Erica Dixon and DJ Babey Drew from Love and Hip-Hop and Wendy Raquel-Robinson from The Game.

Mavis Bakes started off by making cakes and bread for families and friends during their birthdays and other holidays. Eventually, my friends and families started referring me to other people who enjoyed my craft. The thought of making these people happy and for them appreciating my work encouraged me more to start a small business right from my home. As the saying goes, "Home is where your heart is''.
