This expansive, beautifully renovated loft space exemplifies the best in “old world meets new.” Original, roller-rink hardwood floors and exposed, classic brick combine with extraordinary chandeliers and hip artisan tile and glass to evoke a current and fresh vibe that your guests will remember.

Originally built in 1887 as The Ladies’ Literary Club, The Lit has hosted countless iconic events over the years. Located in the heart of Downtown Grand Rapids, guests at The Lit not only enjoy modern conveniences like professional lighting, a theater grade sound system,and close proximity to hotels, they also get to experience the historic charm of our unique space. With original antique chandeliers, hand painted gold trim, and a Tiffany stained glass window dating back to 1915, your guests will fall in love with the authentic historic character of this event space. With flexible floorplans, two dressing rooms on site, and a professional and friendly event staff guiding you through the planning process, The Lit is the ideal venue for your next event.

Our private event space features a fully-staffed bar with eight taps (including one nitro tap), and groups up to 65 seated with an additional space of 45 seats on the patio. It’s located on the second story of our facility and has two walls of windows, east and south-facing, looking out over the city of Grand Rapids. There is also a two-sided patio that will provide additional space during the warmer months. The room is outfitted with three large flat-screen televisions and a retractable projector screen for PowerPoint or video presentations. There will also be a podium with a microphone for any speeches or group announcements. The Centennial Room can be booked in 3-hour minimum blocks. Additional time can be added at a price per-hour charge if available.
