The Edison Downtown is a brand new wedding and event venue in downtown Schenectady and established in 2021. This venue holds the history from when Thomas Edison came to Schenectady to start up Edison Machine Works and when he combined it into the Edison General Electric company in 1889. The West Mountain Inn was originally built as a farmhouse in 1809. From 1880 to 1920, first a gristmill and then a lumber mill were operated on the Battenkill River at the foot of the mountain. In 1904 Ned and Gwendolyn Rochester purchased the 150 acre farm and began to transform it into an elegant summer estate. Upstairs, the oldest Dutch Colonial ballroom in America is designed for long-table dinners and weddings of 25-150 people. Country Club of Greenfield was established in 1896. It is one of the finest, and oldest, golf courses in New England. On October 22, 2011 the former clubhouse was destroyed in an unfortunate fire. Founded in 1814, The West Boylston Company was a large textile manufacturer in West Boylston, MA. At the turn of the century the company faced a crisis: the site of their mill would be flooded to form the Wachusett Reservoir. Instead of abandoning the mill, the company dismantled it brick by brick and shipped it to its new home in Easthampton, where it was rebuilt on the banks of the Lower Mill Pond.
