Ivy & Quartz Photography

5.0

  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $3,750
  • Serves Rockville, MD

Hi! I'm Nina and I run Ivy & Quartz photography! I shot my first wedding in 2013, but my journey with photography began long before that. When I was about 10 years old, my dad gave me a camera and I quickly became obsessed. My intrigue continued to grow over the years and I went on to earn my BA in Studio Art , Photography, from the University of Virginia. After graduating I worked as a portrait photographer and decided to pursue and earn my MFA in Imaging Arts from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Awarded Best of Zola
After friends shared a photo of my then fiance and me at their own wedding, we hired the photographer who took it. This was Nina! That one photo inspired us to review the gallery of their entire wedding and then her portfolio and we were blown away. 7 months later our own wedding day arrived. My husband and I are the type of people who are wildly present and constantly forget to take photographs of our life together. We knew we wanted to capture this day without the photography becoming a chore or hindering our ability to do what we do best and enjoy our time. Nina was able to provide just that and was incredible (as was the second photographer she worked with for our big day). Nina seamlessly handled all the chaotic moments and pre-ceremony stress of the very emotional bride (me) in stride! With very little direction she navigated all aspects of a wedding day with absolute poise and grace. I cannot thank her enough for taking on such leadership and just GETTING IT DONE! Nina captured all the big and tiny pieces that go into a wedding and I felt her photo choices, angles, and poses perfectly captured the essence of me and my husband's personalities. At every avenue Nina was a professional, personable, and I never expected I could be so satisfied with a collection of photographs. THANK YOU SO MUCH NINA.

When I am not behind the camera or editing photos, I enjoy short Uber rides to bottomless brunch on the weekends; right now mimosas and I kinda have a thing going on! I have a special relationship with bourbon and FIRMLY believe in putting food on the grill during late afternoons should be the norm. I am blessed to be married to the happiest person on earth (I am so serious), who just happens to double as my favorite person. She keeps me grounded and never fails to remind me how great she is.

Awarded Best of Zola
Wow can’t say enough amazing things about this photographer, he truly was one of the highlights of our wedding. Don’t walk to book him run! He was super focused, detail orientated, bilingual, fun and laid back. He captured so many incredible behind the scene moments and my family kept saying we didn’t even see him take that picture. We were nervous about not knowing how to pose. He made us so comfortable and had amazing poses. He captured intimate moments of our families reactions during the ceremony, speeches and partying. He helped the day flow so well and we couldn’t believe how amazing the pictures were. The turn around time for the pictures was also super fast. We had a bad experience with a photographer prior who ended up being a scammer and he truly saved our wedding day!! Thank you!

I am part of a husband and wife team. My husband Pete is a laidback Minnesotan and I grew up in Germany. Between the two of us we speak multiple languages. Though we are based in the DC metro area we love to travel for destination weddings!

Awarded Best of Zola
We hired Potok's World Photography for our small outdoor wedding and an engagement shoot - we reached out to them because we loved the vibrancy and creativity of the photos in their portfolio. Anji and Pete were a great team - a warm, discreet and professional duo during the wedding events, and also timely and responsive about pre-wedding details and follow-up correspondence. The photographs from the wedding and engagement shoot were beautiful and alive and really captured the spirit of this special moment in our lives.

Kandid Art Photography

4.9

  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $2,500
  • Serves Rockville, MD

I’m Artur full-time wedding photographer behind the Kandid Arts. As a wedding photographer with roots in Europe and a heart in the United States, I bring a unique blend of cultural influences and experiences to my craft. Born and raised in Eastern Europe, I developed a passion for photography that has only grown stronger during my last few years in the United States. For the past 6 years, I have dedicated myself to the art of wedding photography, capturing the love and joy of couples on their special day.

Working with Kandid Art was overall a great experience! They showed up on time and made sure we got all the shots we wanted. Though the wedding ran a bit behind, they were flexible. The photos turned out beautiful, and they got creative with the locations given the cold, rainy weather. They even got some funny shots of the kids at the wedding that are some of my favorites! The video was also good, although I don't love that they had to use like stock music for the background (I guess it's because of copyright issues with other songs?). I wish they would have included audio of the vows rather than the cheers of the attendees, so make sure you ask them to do that if you want it! I do love that they provided us with all the raw video footage though, as some of the most special moments didn't make the highlight video. Due to the event running behind, the cost increased a bit (which I was asked about after the wedding) due to the 2 photographers needing to split up to cover the shots. I wish they had asked me or the Wedding Coordinator about that on the day of so we could understand better what was the issue, but it was a minor thing in terms of communication. Overall 8/10 rating and would recommend.

Sharon Natoli Photography

  • Photojournalistic style
  • Serves Rockville, MD

Hi there! I’m Sharon! I am a long-time professional photographer, a former award-winning photojournalist, and an official photographer for the Canadian Embassy. I love photographing weddings and I provide beautiful, bold, and romantic images for my couples to treasure forever.

Awarded Best of Zola
We had a wonderful experience with Sharon Natoli as our wedding photographer. She is extremely talented and brought her extensive photojournalism experience, professionalism, and positive energy to capture our wedding day. She handled a rainy outdoor ceremony situation with ease, taking the weather as an opportunity for some unique and memorable shots. She also stuck with us after the reception as the sun came out to catch some incredible light soaked moments. Throughout the day, she was amazing with our guests, keeping things moving swiftly so folks didn't get too cold, and helping some of the more camera-shy (including me, the bride) feel at ease. I love that she took the time to meet with us beforehand and get to know us, learn more about our family and guests, understand our style preferences, as well as offer some expert advice on how the day could go. She also walked us through the final photos and gave us some behind the scenes technical insight which was a really nice way to revisit the day. It's clear she is passionate about photography and loves what she does. Her enthusiasm is contagious and we're so glad she was the one to photograph our day. We are absolutely thrilled with our photos and highly recommend Sharon Natoli to any DC/Maryland area couples!

We are a passionate and creative husband and wife photography team who have a serious soft spot for documenting love stories. The big and little moments in life matter and we believe that everyone deserves to have photos that remind them of all the joy, tears, laughter, and adventure that surrounded them on the most momentous days in their life.

Awarded Best of Zola
Lindsay and Greg have been a pleasure to work with so far! My fiance had them there to photograph our proposal and I liked them so much that we booked them for our engagement and wedding sessions as well. We are both slower to open up type of people and Lindsay and Greg have been really easy to talk to. We didn't feel awkward and were comfortable with them. We have some beautiful photos and everyone has complimented their work. I can be anxious, but Lindsay has been really easy to work with. She has a calm presence and I really like how she's set me at ease! Lindsay and Greg targeted their work to match things that we wanted to incorporate. I shared some Pinterest images with Lindsay and she saved them and actually posed us in them during our session! I offhandedly mentioned one of my favorite shots from our proposal during our engagement shoot and they came up with something so cute to do that matched the vibe of that right then and there! I also was honest with Lindsay about poses I didn't like up front and she made sure to pose me in a way that I felt like allowed me to be more confident and comfortable. We can't wait to see what they can do at our wedding!

Chris Ferenzi Photography

5.0

  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $3,600
  • Serves Rockville, MD

Hey, I'm Chris! Dog-lover, latte-lover, gym-lover, and cookie-lover I justify the cookies by going to the gym. One of my life goals is to have enough dogs (dachshunds and corgis) to create a sled team. I will use this sled team to pull myself around while shooting your wedding. I’m joking, unless you really want me to, in which maybe WE should get married.

Awarded Best of Zola
The minute my fiancée and I found Chris (via a wedding photog friend who was unavailable for our date) I told him that I was a former wedding vendor myself, I know how the sausage gets made, and I just wanted him to be real with me. He totally got that and took it to heart. He went above and beyond to help us sort out another photog for part of our wedding experience when some of our plans had to change and I really appreciated his communication throughout the process. He made it fun and was easy to work with, was amenable to capturing my preferred "good side" and ending up sending us some truly amazing photos. I'm not the world's most photogenic person, and he did such a great job of sorting through snaps of (what I assume were) hundreds of double chins and closed eyes - he sent us a set of final photos in which I felt like I looked pretty in every single one and our joy just really shines through. 10 out of 10, would hire again!

Kelly Loss was the absolute best to work with for our wedding photography!! She was a constant source of light throughout the whole planning process and our photos came out stunning! Are you tired of scrolling through wedding websites full of photos of shoes/calligraphy/earrings/etc. and wondering where the people are? Do you love moments more than things? If yes, you're in the right place. Forget about the table settings, instead embrace spontaneous joy and honest, natural moments.

Awarded Best of Zola
Darcy was an absolute pleasure to work with and we LOVE our photos. She truly captured the emotions of the day and the essence of all the people we love the most. Any time i look at our photos, i find myself involuntarily smiling. She captured the classic posed photos AND the precious in-between moments where people are being their most authentic selves (the face my dad makes when he's really intently listening, the hand gestures my mom uses when she's explaining something and can't find the right words, the face my mother in law makes when she's cracking herself up, the face my father in law makes right before the tears fall, and so so many more). Not ONLY are her photos amazing, but she made us feel so relaxed on the day-of. Her style is totally unobtrusive, which is just what we needed. Darcy got such amazing photos of all our guests we put 4x6" prints in our thank you cards and people were SO appreciative. She's on fridges across America. Comments we've gotten in response to Darcy's photos: "WOW your photographer is phenomenal", "this is the best photo of us in existence", "you guys look so happy!", "I feel like the photographer really captured your personalities" If capturing joy is important to you, hire Darcy. My only regret is getting her for 7 hours instead of 9.

I specialize in capturing the real, candid moments during your wedding day. My approach is all about blending seamlessly into your event. Clients often describe me as calm, cool, and personable. While I take a variety of photos, I stay in the background, moving fluidly throughout the day. My goal is to preserve those fleeting moments, often capturing details you might not have noticed in the excitement of the day. My role also is to make your day stress-free. Whether it's helping direct family for portraits or keeping things running smoothly, I'll be by your side to ensure you feel comfortable and at ease throughout the entire process.

Awarded Best of Zola
We cannot say enough good things about Konrad and his incredible work on both our engagement shoot and our wedding day! From the very first consultation, it was clear that he was not only professional but also genuinely passionate about his craft. He took the time to understand our vision for photography and delivered beyond our expectations—without breaking the bank! After our engagement shoot he surprised us with a behind the scenes video of our day and we were sold on adding the video option to our wedding day. On the day of the wedding, he was calm, organized, and made us feel so comfortable. His attention to detail was amazing, capturing all of the candid moments, the beautiful portraits, and even the small, intimate touches we didn’t notice ourselves. He managed to blend seamlessly into the background while still getting the most stunning shots. What really stood out to us was his ability to balance both photography and videography without sacrificing quality in either area. The photos are breathtaking, and the 4 minute wedding video perfectly tells the story of our day, with all the right moments captured in the most beautiful way. We were also impressed with how quickly he turned around our photos and video—it didn’t take long to relive those precious memories! All of this came at a price that was surprisingly reasonable, especially when you consider the high level of service and talent he brings to the table. We truly feel like we got the best of both worlds: top-tier photography and videography at a price that fit our budget. If you’re looking for a photographer who will not only meet your expectations but exceed them, we highly recommend Konrad. Thank you for making our special day unforgettable!

There is something so exciting about capturing your day the way I see it through my eyes. My valued clients give off energy that keeps me going which motivates me to push my boundaries to create the stunning, crisp, and vibrant images you see.

I had a great experience with Jon and would highly recommend his services to others that are looking to hire a photographer for a surprise proposal. I contacted Jon through his website less than three weeks before I was planning to propose. I received a response within a few hours, had a call with him to work out the details within a few days. Jon had great suggestions for my proposal plan and was able to provide example images of other proposals he had captured at various locations. The examples he provided were very helpful in my planning and gave me assurance as to what the final product would look like. Jon contacted me the week of the proposal to confirm final details and was responsive via text the day of. He was prompt and was at the location at the planned time. Initially was hidden in the background allowing the proposal to still feel intimate and private. He captured great pictures of the proposal, and you would have no idea other people were in the area by looking at the final pictures. Jon exceeded expectations in capturing photos after the proposal. He provided clear instructions and the photos turned out great. The photos were made available to us online within hours which made it easy to share with family and friends. Overall, Jon was responsive, easy to work with, and captured high quality photos of a very special moment.

Meet Katelyn, the visionary behind the lens, the master of capturing love stories; and a true artist with an impeccable eye for detail, an innate ability to freeze time, and the unique gift of encapsulating the raw emotions, intimate moments, and cherished memories that make weddings so extraordinary. From a young age, she discovered the power of storytelling through her mom's scrap books and National Geographic magazines, sparking an undying fascination with capturing the essence of life's most profound moments. She studies under renowned photographers, soaking up their wisdom and honing her own unique style; authentic photojournalism.

Awarded Best of Zola
Choosing Katelyn as our wedding photographer was undoubtedly one of the easiest and best decisions we made for our wedding day! We had the pleasure of seeing her work firsthand at a friend's wedding, with who knows how many cameras strapped on! Seeing her attention to detail firsthand and the beautiful quality of our friends photos, she was first on our list for a consultation. From our first call, Katelyn embraced our vision with enthusiasm and professionalism. We knew we wanted a documentary-style photographer with the option of film photos (we loved that Katelyn includes these already) who could capture the genuine emotions and candid moments of our wedding with our lively group, and Katelyn delivered! Despite our initial nervousness about being in front of the camera, Katelyn made us feel incredibly comfortable. Having an engagement shoot beforehand was a great practice run, she has an incredible talent for putting people at ease, and this truly shines through in the photos. We have never felt so photogenic! Our album turned out better than we could have dreamed up. It is truly reflective of us and our day. Complete with details of my treasured Kirkland sweatpants on the way to our venue contrasted with my dress glam Katelyn’s commitment to us was truly exceptional as she had a family loss shortly before our wedding. It would have been more than understandable for her to need more time away or to find us a replacement. Despite this, Katelyn remained fully committed to capturing our day and we are so so grateful. Her dedication and professionalism during such a difficult time speaks volumes about her passion for her work and for her clients. Katelyn is a true artist and an amazing person. Her work exceeded all our expectations, and we feel so fortunate to have had her as part of our wedding team. The only question we have is how early is too early for a vow renewal so we can hire her again!

Charles was a delight to work with. We won’t give away the thoughtful things that Charles surprised us with during our engagement photo session because, well, then, you’ll expect them and lose out on those “oh wow” feelings. Suffice it to say, we are still delighted months later. He had vision for our engagement pictures and they came out so beautifully we had them framed and placed on every table at the reception. (We had one of our guests say I’m sorry not sorry but I stole the picture at my table and I’m putting it in my living room.) Later, we found that two other pictures were taken by other guests. The ultimate form of flattery and quality of the pictures!! The ceremony and reception pictures look great of course, but Charles did a fabulous job capturing the little details of our wedding that many people might not think of. We interviewed several photographers but ultimately went with Charles because of his vibe. Very chill, very open to what we wanted. We appreciated that he did a walkthrough of the venue in advance to understand the lighting and what challenges there might be with sight lines. He also sent us an "Important Details Checklist" to make sure nothing was missed on the wedding day. That checklist included a list of important people who we wanted to make sure were photographed. We found the pricing reasonable and the transaction seamless. A deposit in advance via credit card to hold the day and the balance due right before the wedding, all through a password protected web portal. The best part was that Charles was communicative before, during, and after the wedding. He had a preview gallery of our best pictures ready by the time we got back from our honeymoon. We recommend him without hesitation.

I just received my photos, and they were beautiful, and a wonderful souvenir for our special day. The photographers were professional, courteous, and a welcome addition to the ceremony. The photographers were really good at helping us to pose, which nobody in our wedding party had any idea of how to do. They came with multiple cameras, and everything needed to take and produce great pictures. We could not have been happier with then, would highly recommend.

We were particularly impressed with their ability to capture the essence of our personalities and the unique love we share. The group photos were organized efficiently, and the candid shots were simply stunning. We can't wait to relive our wedding day through their lens, both in photos and video. If you're looking for a photography and videography team that will not only capture your wedding day but also elevate it to new heights, we highly recommend Jamaal McKenzie and the Visuals by J. McKenzie team.
