Venue considerations

My fiancé and I were looking for a rustic wedding venue, not a ballroom, preferably a venue with space to be outside (weather permitting). We visited a few options in the Philly area and fell in love with the John James Audubon Center! The space offers SO many options for an outdoor or indoor ceremony. They host receptions in the pavilion which is open with huge windows and firepits outside! The site is beautiful, and everyone we’ve worked with has been immensely helpful! After officially booking for our October 2024 wedding, we planned to visit with our parents. What was originally intended to be a quick stroll around the grounds turned into an impromptu tour with the venue manage. She answered all of our parents' questions and even brought out photo books of previous weddings for us to flip through together. With the wedding right around the corner now, we could not be more thrilled with our decision and can't wait to be there next month to celebrate our big day!

The Hotel Palomar went above and beyond for our wedding weekend in the spring. We had our rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, and morning after brunch as well as our room block at the hotel. The even coordinator, Erin S. and the entire team involved went above and beyond every step of the way. Five months before our wedding, I had to have major surgery and quarantine for two – three months after. I was unable to attend our food tasting but my fiancé and both sets of parents went on my behalf. Erin was not only understanding but supportive as my own family and friends were – checking in and celebrating with me after the surgery. When the tasting came, the chef sent home full-sized portions for me to try at home. This was in addition to the full-sized ones my family tried as well. The entire staff was there to answer any questions from me or our family. We had several dietary restrictions which Erin coordinated with the chef on our behalf to make sure those guests were included without having to worry. We had a memorial table as well as several things to be set out (guest book, favors, name cards, etc.). I gave all these items to the team and it was fully taken care of for me and they even knew which favors were to be for gluten free guests. Erin provided a list of pre-approved vendors they had worked with before (we didn’t have to use these) and we ended up using a lot of them. Erin coordinated with them directly as needed, photography locations for if it rained and DJ timeline. Due to the top tier efforts of the entire hotel, we were AHEAD of schedule the entire weekend which really allowed everyone to be fully present. My bridal party and I were in the suite for preparations and they continued to go above and beyond. We had a team member bring us our food and coffee order and he was so accommodating. He brought iced coffee when I mentioned that’s my preferences and we talked about our pets since I had my dog with me (as did several of our guests). Our guests were also well taken care of – from unpacking cars for their stays to helping our vendors get to their locations. I would sit here and list every name of every person that I felt were stars but honestly, it was the entire team. Everyone I encountered the whole time was a five star person. I cannot recommend this location enough for any occasion including just a regular weekend stay in Philadelphia.

We could not be more thrilled that we chose the College of Physicians as our wedding venue. One of the things we were looking for in a venue was something that would be unique and memorable for our guests...not just a cookie cutter event space. We chose the College of Physicians because it fit the bill perfectly and could not be happier with our choice. From our first tour to the day of our wedding, Michael and his staff went above and beyond to make everything run smoothly and treated us with so much kindness. They are true professionals and we were at ease knowing they had every detail taken care of during our event. The food was also incredible and we are still getting compliments on it from our guests. Thanks so much to Michael and the CBD staff for a truly memorable evening and for all of the support and flexibility through the planning process!

Arch Street Meeting House

5.0

Philadelphia, PA
  • Up to 300 guests
  • Select services
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $2,000

Arch Street Meeting House is a historic wedding venue located in Old City Philadelphia. The land on which Arch Street Meeting House stands was officially deeded to the Quakers in 1701 and used as a burial ground until 1872. The building was constructed in stages from 1803-1811 when need arose of a larger Meeting House in Philadelphia. The site is still an active place of worship in addition to being used as an educational museum space, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2011. It is frequently rented for conferences, weddings, dinners, and graduations. The building sits on just shy of 2 acres, and our grounds include both grassy & brick spaces and lots of mature trees. The entire site exudes an overall historic charm.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Caters to out-of-town guests
  • Has a dance floor to dance the night away
  • Both indoor and outdoor options

Venue considerations

  • Does not provide event staff
  • Limited cleanup and setup services
  • Lighting and sound are not included
Arch Street Meeting House proved to be the ideal spot for our wedding. Jenn was an absolute pleasure to work with and made sure she understood exactly what we were looking for and how her team could help bring it to fruition. They allowed us to close the grounds to the public so that our guests could mingle and sip champagne outside in the beautiful weather. All of the guests commented on how tangibly historical the venue was and how they loved the simplicity and timelessness of the ceremony space. (Which looks absolutely stunning in the few preview photos we've gotten back.) Because it was so much more affordable, we also decided to hold our rehearsal dinner there and hired a taco truck to act as the caterers. All in all, I can't recommend ASMH or Jenn and the team more highly!!

The Moshulu was the first venue we looked at and we instantly fell in love and knew it was where we wanted to host our wedding reception. First, the ship is absolutely stunning and we knew it would give such a unique experience to our guests. Because it has such charm and character, we were able to focus on key details like centerpieces and signage rather than needing to worry about dressing a blank space! But more importantly, we knew it was where we wanted to have our wedding because of how well we were treated by the Moshulu staff during every single interaction from our first tour until the big day! Jake was the absolute best to work with through everything! We found many other venues stick to a “cookie cutter” approach or up charge for every little thing… but as a vendor, the Moshulu was so incredibly flexible, collaborative, and accommodating with their wedding package to truly make it OUR day. It was such a pleasure to collaborate (and we really do mean collaborate!) with Jake and team on our vision, and our guests commented on the beauty of the ship all night long! We would highly recommend anyone host their event at the Moshulu!

Our wedding spanned five different exhibits/areas of the Penn Museum -- from a procession in the Stoner Courtyard to the ceremony in Pepper Hall, to cocktail hour in the Lower Level Egypt exhibit (where the Sphinx used to be), to dinner in the Chinese Rotunda, and finally dancing in the Upper Level Egypt exhibit. Being surrounded by the galleries in a beautiful venue made for a unique and unforgettable event! Everything went smoothly thanks to the thoughtfulness and attentiveness of Atiya German and Michelle Bach (CxRA). They helped us accomplish our vision for our wedding, and were accommodating to our special needs for food, decor, a few young children in attendance, clothing changes, an unexpected light rain on the wedding day, and even a horse at the procession! Prices were very reasonable, especially when compared to other similar venues in Philly, and we were only ever charged for what we used. I highly recommend Penn Museum and working with Atiya in particular.

Stunning venue - the display garden is truly a one in a million place to get married. We initially planned to have our cocktail hour outdoors as we wanted to highlight the reflecting pool but unfortunately the weather didn’t permit - we had cocktail hour inside and it was still incredible. The whole team there was impressive and the food was truly delicious. My standards for wedding food are pretty low but it was excellent, and many of our guests commented that it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had (and they’d eat it again if they could). The whole team was lovely to work with. So, so glad we got married here!!

Mr. Renner made the decision to keep the original industrial scale for weighing wool, which you can still see inside our front foyer. Our first batch of Manayunk Brewing Company beer was tapped on October 17, 1996. Since then, we have brewed more than 600 different varieties of beers, and have been selling these sought-after styles all around Philadelphia and New Jersey. Our brewers continue to explore new takes on classic styles, especially when it comes to sour ales and India Pale Ales. You will no doubt see our delivery truck bringing goods to happy customers throughout the Philadelphia region! Mr. Renner’s daughter took over the building in 2004 and runs the restaurant and brewery along with her business partner Mike Rose. MBC exceeded all our expectations for our wedding venue and catering. We are one of the many couples that were impacted by COVID during wedding planning, and MBC and their event coordinator Paris were as professional, warm and accomodating as they could be during a very stressful time for many of their couples. When we had to postpone our orignal wedding date in 2021, Paris was so accomodating in offering us any of the remaning 2021/2022 dates they had available and made the process as simple as naming a date with no issues. Our original deposit was applied to our new date. When MBC suffered from a catastrophic flood in August 2021, they were super communicative about venue expectations and their plans/timeline for the future. Paris offered reccomendations for our vendors whom she has worked with and trusted, although we ultimatley opted for some new vendors :) We had separately hired a wedding planner to assist us throughout the planning process (Andi at Musa Weddings), but even if you do not have a planner, Paris is exceptionally knoweledgable (i.e.expert) at wedding planning and can help you throughout the planning process at MBC. She also offered wonderful reccomendations during our tasting for ways to accomodate dietary restrictions, fan favorites on the menu, how to have a diversified menu, and ways to 'zhuzh' up the space if you needed inspiration. When we first visited MBC we immediately fell in love with the space. It is intimate, but large enough to accomodate up to 200 people, but intimate enough that our final guest list of 80 felt full in the space. It is a simple canvas so you can bring any vision to life in the space. They also have a private upstairs patio space if you want to have your ceremony or cocktail hour oustide. We opted to do all inside (due to weather) and the space being so welcoming. MBC also has a private, separate space for couples and their families which we used as a holding space during the photos (there is an amazing trail right behind the restaurant which is GORGEOUS for photos) and they provided snacks and drinks. We also used this space to sign our Ketubah for some privacy with our family only, and after our ceremony we were able to enjoy a few private moments together to decompress. MBC also brought us our own drinks of choice and a sampling of the cocktail hour snacks so we could enjoy our first minutes of marriage! When we were reseraching a venue and caterer for our wedding, our number one priority was good food. MBC delivers. At our tasting it was hard to pick only a few items - they were all so delicous! The chef introduced himself as well and was very open to any needs or preferences. We receieved (and have continued to receive) endless compliments on the food...so much so that no one was eating the dessert we brought in! They just wanted more mini chicken and waffles :) I cannot reccomend MBC enough. The staff was professional, the service leading up to and on the day of the wedding was phenomenal; I felt in very good hands with Paris and her staff. They were knoweldgeable, calm, collected, and FUN. My groom and I always had a drink in our hand or a snack on our plate thanks to the staff. There are hundreds of amazing reviews on MBC on this site, and they are all true. I only wish I could do it all over again :) and eat another bite of the pork belly or ahi tuna!! Paris & the MBC staff - thank you, thank you, thank you!

The day of our wedding as we drove up to the venue I started to cry bc it was so much more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. The Knowlton Mansion was the perfect wedding venue, offering a stunning blend of historical charm and modern elegance in a convenient location. The food was exceptional, with our guests raving about the delicious cuisine. The staff at The Knowlton Mansion were an absolute pleasure to work with. From our initial contact with Eileen, we knew we were in good hands. She was incredibly responsive and patient, answering all our questions and accommodating our requests with grace and professionalism. On the day of our wedding, Rebecca, the day-of manager, was a true superhero. She seamlessly coordinated the setup and breakdown of the decor, ensuring that every detail was perfect. Rebecca's attentiveness to our needs as a couple was remarkable, and she went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed throughout the day. In addition, we greatly appreciated their straightforward and transparent pricing structure. They made the financial aspect of wedding planning simple and easy to understand. In short, from the breathtaking beauty of the mansion itself to the incredible food, attentive staff, and straightforward pricing, every aspect of our experience was exceptional. William partnered with Philadelphia’s first printer, purchased a 20-acre plot of land along Paper Mill Run (a tributary of the Wissahickon Creek) and, with the help of his son Nicholas, built the first paper mill in British North America that otherwise could only be delivered from England. For the next 40 years, the Rittenhouse family were the only papermakers in America.
