Renowned “movie palace” architect C. Howard Crane designed Detroit’s historic Garden Theater, a commission he earned after he opened his own firm in Detroit in 1908. In addition to the Garden Theater, Crane has 250 theaters to his credit, 62 of which were built in Detroit, like The Majestic, The Fox, Orchestra Hall, the Detroit Opera House, and The Fillmore Detroit. One of the city’s earliest neighborhood theaters, the Garden Theater opened to the public in 1912. With its 900-seat capacity, it was one of the largest theaters built outside downtown; it originally hosted live stage shows and motion pictures. As the name implies, Crane cleverly incorporated vines, birds and other garden-style decorations in its design to immerse patrons in an outdoor-like experience. After decades in ruin, the theater underwent a multi-million-dollar restoration and was rededicated in 2013, a century after its initial debut, as part of Midtown’s vibrant resurgence.

Wedding ceremonies can be held inside the main hall or outside all year around. The property also has a one of a kind bridal suite for the party to get ready and hang out on the morning of the big day. It's fully stocked with plenty of entertainment on the men's side, including a golf simulator. As well as a large area on the women's side to have outside services come in and help out on the big day! For the first year of 2024 weddings we are offering a 20% off on all wedding bookings!

There is also a two-sided patio that will provide additional space during the warmer months. The room is outfitted with three large flat-screen televisions and a retractable projector screen for PowerPoint or video presentations. There will also be a podium with a microphone for any speeches or group announcements. The Centennial Room can be booked in 3-hour minimum blocks. Additional time can be added at a price per-hour charge if available.
