About this venue

The Whiskey Factory is a premier event venue and part of a working spirits distillery in Detroit. Our mixed-use event space serves the revolutionaries of this great American city as well as the individuals supporting these change-makers who are a reminder of the soul of the city that has never left. We are bringing back this timeless craft at the historic site that has long served as the epicenter for alcohol production in Detroit. Once the home of Goebel’s Brewery and Stroh’s Ice Cream, the Whiskey Factory’s distinguished history creates an ambiance of heritage in this urban two-story distillery.

The Whiskey Factory

Where History is Made

Walk in the front door and witness the craft of making Detroit’s finest whiskey. The smell of grain, the shine of copper stills, and the sounds of distillers at work immerse you in a modern day factory. Take the freight elevator up to the second floor to our rickhouse and you’re transported to another world. Here you’ll find The Whiskey Factory’s 5,000 square foot historical event space. The industrial yet refined space is lined with aging whiskey barrels, providing an intimate setting where 200 guests may sit for dinner or 250 may stroll throughout the distinguished event space. Along the back wall of the venue, guests may gather around an original 1920’s Detroit vintage bar to partake in Detroit City Distillery spirits. Whatever your experience may be, The Whiskey Factory will provide a spirits package to enhance it. We are home to Detroit City Distillery and the venue for you to experience a city and its craft.

    The Whiskey Factory—Detroit City Distillery was the perfect venue for our rehearsal dinner and welcome cocktail party. The staff was incredibly friendly, proactive, and responsive throughout the planning process. They were flexible in coordinating both events and went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly. The space itself was absolutely beautiful, providing a unique and intimate setting for our guests to mingle and celebrate the start of our wedding weekend. We couldn't have asked for a better experience, and we're so grateful to the Whiskey Factory team for helping to make our special day even more memorable.

    We couldn't be happier with The Whiskey Factory! They went above and beyond. The team is incredibly responsive, professional, and personable. We had so much fun at our cocktail tasting. Their drinks are excellent. The day of our wedding it was so clear they had everything under control. We appreciated their hard to work to ensure everything ran smoothly. They know what they are doing for a wedding - helping us with timing and room layouts and all around making it stress free for the bride and groom. Our guests all raved about the space, drinks, and food.

    The Whiskey Factory was truly our dream venue. The indoor space is a perfect blend of rustic and industrial, with an overarching feel of timelessness. The team provided the most positive and fun experience at every step of our journey. They were extremely accommodating, making it easy to build the day exactly how we wanted. They were knowledgeable, friendly, organized, and a true pleasure to work with. I would give this review a million stars if I could!

    We had our wedding at The Whiskey Factory in August, and we couldn't be more thrilled with how everything turned out! From the start, Amelia was a huge help—she was always responsive, easy to work with, and made the entire planning process stress-free. On the day of the wedding, Alyssa went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. She helped us with a few last-minute details and also made sure the ceremony flowed perfectly. The drinks were a big hit with our guests and they loved the cocktail hour in the production area. The food, provided by Two Unique, was awesome. Our guests kept complimenting the food all night. The venue’s ambiance was exactly what we envisioned—a cool, unique space with a great vibe. We wish we could relive the night over again!
