About this venue
Grass Room is perhaps our most distinctive location and features a flowing 6,000-square-foot site plan designed for private events, courtyard weddings, receptions, exhibitions, productions and live performances. The venue is fully amenitized, and we provide experienced, professional site management plus a commercial kitchen for client-selected catering teams. Built in the 1920’s in an area that has long served as the city’s seafood market east of Downtown, the building has lived many lives in its century of use; it’s been a fish and oyster company, an ice cream factory, and a commercial site for everything from far east imports to marijuana cultivation. This quirky history subtly informed our re-invention of the space.

Greenhouse Courtyard
A tropical garden courtyard fe glass greenhouse roof
At the door, a passageway leads you through a secret jungle, past a hand made copper bar with an ever-changing patina, and opens to a courtyard framed by 25-foot walls of roughly textured clay and wood, set on floors of reclaimed brick, salvaged from the original structure, and polished aggregate, surrounded by flourishing gardens that wouldn’t be out of place in a Dr. Seuss storyboard. All of this lies beneath a soaring 35-foot greenhouse roof with retractable shades and levered windows.

Ocean Room
The thoroughly versatile Ocean Room, where artistic interventions abound, is suitable for both elegant seated dinners and casual cocktail parties.
Enter through 18-foot tall, uncommonly shaped archways built from the original building’s deconstructed bow truss ceilings and topped with stained glass. On the dining room’s original brick walls you’ll find handmade clay and seaweed murals. Carved totemic sea creatures by Ivan Lee Mora oversee the space. The tables, which can hold up to 150 guests, are built from squared-off, tongue and groove floors salvaged from the original hotel, and paired with suave Italian leather chairs.

Perfect venue alert!!
Grass Room will forever have a piece of my heart! The folks at Marvimon know how to host a WEDDING. Still smiling! From the moment we started planning with their team, they were responsive, assuring and personable in their communication style. They held a design meeting with us to get all the logistics and layout perfectly planned, and also provided a preferred vendor list - they already had great relationships with quality vendors that complemented the eclectic, vibey and airy ambience of the Grass Room. The entire experience was seamless, and we are so grateful to the Marvimon/Grass Room team for making our special day truly unforgettable. Dream Wedding at a Dream Venue!
We had such a positive experience from start to finish with The Grass Room. Dana, Clare and Anika particularly made everything feel easy for us. We had multiple opportunities to view the venue before our wedding, and everything ran smoothly the day of. They provide a list of preferred vendors for every aspect from DJs to catering, and we opted to use their list to select the vendors we wanted to work with. It could not have gone better. Everything was beautiful and ran smoothly. One of the bonuses of the Grass Room is there is so much lovely greenery in the space that we found we didn't have to bring a lot of other decor. If we could give them more than 5 stars, we would. What a dream.
