Buhl Planetarium
For couples who are looking for a different and inspiring setting to exchange vows, this venue provides you with a modern and stellar setting.
This high-definition, full-dome experience will make your next event a celestial spectacular. Your love is written in the stars- literally! Get married in our Buhl Planetarium, where guests can watch your out of this world nuptials. Our Planetarium team will help you customize the perfect ceremony.

With spectacular views of the Pittsburgh skyline, PointView Hall inside Carnegie Science Center’s PPG SCIENCE PAVILION™ is a picture-perfect venue for wedding receptions, holiday parties, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, corporate receptions, lectures, galas, fundraisers, and other festivities. The stunning view of the skyline from the outdoor terrace adds an air of sophistication to this event space that you won’t find elsewhere.

Your ceremony takes place in PointView Hall. This private event space overlooks the Pittsburgh Skyline, Point State Park, the iconic three rivers, and Mount Washington! Following your ceremony, venture down to our very memorable exhibit space on the second-floor which showcases Mars: The Next Giant Leap, The Buhl Planetarium, and the Miniature Railroad Village. You and your guests then revisit PointView Hall for your reception and to dance the night away!

Host your ceremony with up to 120 guests under the stars in the Buhl Planetarium and enjoy a custom planetarium show. Following your ceremony, your guests can enjoy cocktail hour in our very memorable exhibit space on the second-floor which showcases Mars: The Next Giant Leap, and the Miniature Railroad Village. You can also choose to have your cocktail hour in the RiverView Café. You and your guests then revisit PointView Hall for your reception and to dance the night away!

Our celestial dream wedding come true!
The Carnegie Science Center was the prefect choice for our wedding, and working with the wonderful people there was a pleasure! We'd gotten engaged under the solar eclipse of 2017, and were enthralled by the idea of having one simulated for our guests in the planetarium on site. Despite covid greatly delaying our plans, we finally toured the venue in 2023 and fell in love with the gorgeous view of the city from their Point View Hall, which is perhaps the greatest view of Pittsburgh there is! After a small, more intimate ceremony under the 2024 eclipse, we had our big event with friends and family that May, and everybody thoroughly enjoyed the unique touches only made possible by the science center such as the planetarium show, the cocktail hour among their exhibit floor, and the liquid nitrogen cocktails served! The food prepared by the venue was delicious, and everybody who corresponded with us -from the theater team, event management, etc.- was both delightful and professional, and clearly were enthusiastic about making our event as amazing as possible, and they most certainly succeeded! They also made it very easy to select 3rd party vendors that they had worked with closely in the past for the music, decor, transportation, etc. They even helped to reunite us with a few items that were accidentally left behind after the wedding! If you want to host a unique event with a gorgeous view and a very professional staff, then we can't recommend the Carnegie Science Center more!
Incredible experience!
The Science Center made our wedding perfect! Vanessa and Tom were absolute rockstars and made the whole process very easy. Our venue was decorated beautifully with the decorations we provided, and we received endless compliments on the venue. The food was delicious and the CSC staff clearly put a lot of thought into the cookie table arrangement. Every staff member we interacted with was incredibly kind and helpful. They even allowed us to take some photos in the exhibit space, which was a ton of fun! I can't recommend the Science Center enough for any event.
Best Location for a Pittsburgh Wedding
We had the most amazing time working with Vanessa and the whole events planning team at the Science Center. They went above and beyond to help make our day an unforgettable one for us and our guests. If you’re looking for a venue with the most amazing views of Pittsburgh, you won’t find anything better than this!
