Hey I'm Liz! I've been in business as a wedding and portrait photographer since 2015, and have had a camera in my hand since the days before digital. After nine years in the industry my brain is absolutely full of specific knowledge I can only use for weddings, so please please use me as a resource. I live outside Portland with my Husband, kids, dog and cat. In my free time you can find me at a Mexican restaurant, a Movie Theater, or in any body of water. As an aging Millennial I've also recently gotten into retirement hobbies like birding and gardening.

My photography style is a mix of photojournalism and traditional portraiture, which essentially means I like to catch genuine moments between classic poses. My goal as a photographer is to become your friend who just happens to take great pictures of all of your important moments.

Description

The Wedding Package comes with up to eight hours of coverage, which should give me enough time to be there for getting ready all the way to send off. I will follow you throughout your day and capture the events as they happen, as well as setting aside some time for quick formal portraits. Additional Photographers, Travel, and added time available for an additional cost.

Liz was so easy to work with. She took our engagement photos and wedding photos. During our wedding planning session as a bride I was all over the place but she was able to help figure out photos that were needed and set a timeline with me. On the day of our wedding, it seemed that time sped up and there was a million things to do. As our timeline didn’t go as planned, most weddings don’t, Liz was able to think on her feet and get a new timeline so we were able to get all of our shots in that we wanted and still be able to enjoy our wedding, dancing, guest and each other. After getting our photos back many of our family and friends mentioned how wonderful Liz was, her attention to detail and how they would love to use her in the future. Whenever we talk about future photo shoots that we want, Liz is always brought up and will be the first to call when we need new photos!

Liz, owner of Afterglow Photography, is an absolute pleasure to work with. In 2021 she took our engagement and wedding photos. We loved them and working with her so much that she is now officially our family Photographer. She recently took our maternity photos! Liz is friendly & so much fun to work with; as well as punctual, communicative, reliable, and flexible. She has an artistic eye, and a knack for capturing those small candid moments that would otherwise go unnoticed. She beautifully commemorates the atmosphere and details (flowers, food, location, signage) as well. She does a great job of keeping the mood fun & light - while also providing direction - when taking portrait photos, which helps to create more organic and less forced poses/smiles. First and foremost, I am a documentarian. I follow you throughout the day and present a linear gallery that tells the story of your wedding. My color-correction is rich but true-to-life, and my retouching is subtle. I also know that formal portraits are an important part of most people's wedding expectations and I do typically work with you to design a shot list that incorporates couple's, party, and family portraits into your timeline without taking you away from your party for hours and hours.

So here's the deal. Up until this year (2024) I have offered shorter wedding packages at 4 and 6 hours, but I have felt that people are so concerned with fitting in the budget of the shorter options that they make compromises in their wedding plans for the sake of photos, and it just didn't sit right with me. People either front-loaded the events so I'd be there, or they didn't and I missed moments that made their galleries feel incomplete. So now I only offer one Wedding Package for "up to eight hours" so I can be there from beginning to end. If you need more time that's totally doable, but I just can't hang with the half coverage anymore.

While I am a First Look believer, there's something about that aisle reveal. Generally I'd say that a First Look would maximize the enjoyment of the wedding if you have a large wedding party, family, or shot list, or if you tend to sweat a lot and want portraits done before your makeup melts off (lol). Really it's just about what matters to you. If you want wait 'til the altar, just plan on having a cocktail hour so your guests won't get too antsy while you take the photos after the ceremony.

Typically I finish and deliver them between 4 and 6 weeks.

Don't worry. I meet with you at least twice before your wedding and will get a feel for how comfortable you are in front of the camera. My Wedding Package comes with an Engagement Session specifically for this reason. The cool thing about shooting in Photojournalist/Documentary style is that I don't need you to be aware that I'm taking your photos at all. We can do fewer posed photos (or skip them if you'd like) and I can focus on documenting from a safe distance.
