One of the most important components to me for our wedding was the flowers. I chose Poppy Flowers because of the look I wanted for the ceremony and reception and with the lower minimum cost required compared to other florists. We went with a pastel theme given we had a spring wedding. I had countless complements on the centerpieces at the reception – they were gorgeous. They were the perfect match for elegant look I wanted. My bouquet and my husband’s boutonniere were also beautiful and what we were expecting. The website was a little glitchy for me in a couple of instances (the IT people had to address the issues) – hopefully they have all of those issues resolved now. Aside from those minor issues, we were very pleased with our decision to go with Poppy. Thank you for providing the gorgeous flowers for our day!

Lindsay was so amazing to work with! We hired her to do the flowers for our very small wedding, and the flowers were pretty much our only decor. Everything turned out so stunning. I only showed her a couple of inspiration/general ideas, and mostly told her that we just wanted bright seasonal (August) flowers, and to go ahead and do whatever she thought was best. We didn't have a set color palette since we didn't have a wedding party, so she really could choose whatever she wanted. This was the best decision I could have made because everything was even more beautiful than I could have imagined! Trust me, if you're not a picky bride, ask Lindsay to surprise you and you won't be disappointed!

My name is Isabelle, and I grow chemical free, regenerative flowers and herbs on 3/4 of an acre in Hamden, CT. I truly love working on these blooms from start to finish, and I hope to get to share some of the beauty with you on your special day.

Awarded Best of Zola
Isabelle is a dream to work with, and created the most stunning florals, understated and natural yet gorgeous and striking, which blended beautifully with the natural environment of our venue. The florals were more than decorations - they were works of art. The fact that the plants are chemical free and grown in a sustainable, regenerative environment was a huge selling point for us. The team is reliable, experienced, and so dedicated, and they went above and beyond to turn a vision into reality. Finally, communication with Isabelle was incredibly smooth and pleasant, and during a stressful process like wedding planning, having such a supportive, loving person was deeply helpful and appreciated. Cannot recommend Isabelle enough!!!

Lauren Flanagan Design

5.0

  • Starts at $3,000
  • Serves Whitneyville, CT

Forever a lover of nature, I draw inspiration from the natural world and am most at peace and at home among the plants and trees. I love spending time outdoors, hiking with my dog, and working in my garden growing food and flowers. I have a life long passion for art and design and have worked as an artist for much of my life. In 2013 I found myself fusing my love for art and flowers when I began working in floral design. I quickly fell in love with the ritual of creating with fresh florals. In the years since, I've had the opportunity to hone my skills and style and provide unique and gorgeous designs for some wonderful couples.

Awarded Best of Zola
Lauren was amazing. She did flowers for my bridal shower and wedding. I knew the colors I wanted but not really specifics. She asked me questions and then was able to get ideas and offer several options for me to choose from. Everything was immaculate from the rich reds and the pops from the bamboo. I loved them and got compliments from tons of guests/family.

Believe it or not, we often have people ask if our pictures throughout our website are showing a mix of fresh and faux and…no they aren’t! Although fresh florals are pretty, we are totally in love with poser-blooms all the way here and that’s what we design 100% of our orders with.

I recently had the pleasure of working with The Faux Bouquets for my wedding and couldn't be happier with their service. Their communication through email was great - they were fast, reliable, and very helpful in answering all of my questions. Jen is incredible and worth every penny! My husband and I weren't very sure about how we wanted our wedding florals to look. We also didn't want to spend thousands of dollars on flowers that would only last a day. We stumbled upon wood flowers and discovered Wood and Word Blooms! Working with Jen was wonderful and seamless. She helps you every step of the way to figure out what you would like. The DIY class was so much fun, and we were able to build all of our centerpieces, boutonnières, and bouquets. Jen also built my cascade bouquet and beautiful garland for us! Everything came out so beautifully and was perfect for our day. Thank you Jen!

I cannot begin to express the magic that Sara brought to our wedding day. Literally from the moment we discussed our vision, I knew Sara was going to deliver something incredible... but what she did was beyond my wildest dreams. Sara didn’t just provide flowers; she crafted this ethereal experience that surpassed every expectation. But it wasn’t just the flowers that made Sara exceptional. First of all - the end product was just beautiful. Everything from the bridal bouquet to the ceremony flowers to the table styling was exquisite and super unique. Shannon did a great job incorporating my favorite color (yellow) and a whimsical, organic wildness into the design exactly as I had hoped. From our first meeting to the written proposal, Shannon interpreted my thoughts and ideas exactly. I was so impressed that she took my ramblings and half ideas and pulled them together into what I was seeing in my head. Shannon’s GORGEOUS color palette informed the entire wedding design and gave me a jumping off point for invitations, bridesmaid dresses, other decor, etc. Unfortunately, the process of working with Shannon was a bit challenging. She struggled with nailing down details: incorrect number of tables, inconsistent accounting of candles/bud vases, etc. It took a number of incorrect proposal drafts until we got it right - just weeks before the wedding. We were honestly quite disappointed by Shannon’s flexibility and communication. She self-describes as being highly collaborative, but that was not our experience. First, as beer nerds, having hops in the design was super important to us, and while she flagged early on it could be an issue to source real ones, we discussed using fake. While we all agreed that she shouldn’t use fake hops if they looked bad, we were sad to see on the day of that they didn’t make it into the design. It would have been nice to have heard a heads up from her that she didn’t plan to use them - even if it was just a brief mention on the day-of. Second, when our cake plans fell through at the last minute, we asked Shannon if she could possibly supply a few flowers for our small 6” cutting cake. She told us she would try, but later we heard from the bakery that she had given them a flat no. She never communicated her decision to us. Thankfully, the bakery pulled something together for us (shout out to Zest Pastry!). Third, the Monday before the wedding, Shannon sent an alarming email with the subject line “Head Advisory, Oh No!”, asking us what our plan was. Getting any email titled “Oh No” isn’t fun to receive less than a week before your wedding. Further, as a trusted wedding vendor, we would hope that she would have plans for weather or unexpected events rather than looking to us during a very stressful period. Lastly, (and most disappointingly) despite having a run of day schedule, Shannon was nowhere to be found when it was time to put on boutonnieres and corsages. Our photographers and party thankfully jumped in to help to avoid major delays to portraits (shout out to Katie Slater!). Fundamentally, the product Shannon provided was beyond compare - everything was beautiful. That said, the communication, coordination, and organization were lacking from our experience.

I treat the flowers with preservatives to help them last for your special day, rendering them non-organic.

Zoe and Gabby did the florals for my wedding in June 2024. All of the florals were absolutely stunning. I was absolutely obsessed with my bridal and bridesmaids bouquets. They used my pinterest board to truly create the bouquets of my dreams. Everyone in the reception were commenting on the table florals as well. Zoe and Gabby were so easy to work with. I had a ton of questions about different options such as bud vases vs. compote bowls, hanging florals, arch florals and more. They were both so patient with me while I figured out what I wanted. I also changed my vision from when we first spoke and they were so easy about the changes. I really loved supporting a local, women owned business. I also loved that all of the flowers were grown locally. I couldn't recommend Sterling Flower Farm enough.
