Stone Garden was the perfect venue for our wedding day. From the very beginning, their communication was responsive and extremely detailed, which put us at ease throughout the planning process. The location is absolutely beautiful, with a well-designed layout that allowed for a seamless flow of the day's events. The team at Stone Garden went above and beyond, adding so many small, thoughtful touches like yard games, twinkling lights, and gorgeous floral arrangements that truly made our day feel special. Kristen, the wedding planner, thought of every last detail and worked tirelessly to make sure anything we wanted was brought to life. I had my eye on The Grove at Briar Barn Inn since it was simply a blueprint on an Instagram post. From the start, I knew it was going to be where I would get married someday. There is just something so quintessentially charming about the post and beam restaurant and the quaint New England Inn. The entire experience working with The Grove was great. We picked December 8th for not only the idea of a winter wedding but also for the holiday decor and availability for our preferred vendors. They were flexible in putting together the details and stuck to all the outlined dates and deadlines. We were assigned our wedding coordinator, Jeannine, about six weeks out as they said, and we were able to have our wedding details meeting soon after. The payment portal was easy to use, and the planning pod was intuitive and a great spot to keep important details in order. Jeannine answered all my questions promptly, and in the week leading up to the wedding, she was available for us to drop off all the decor ahead of time and spent time reviewing our vision one last time. On the day of, she was present, available, and helpful. She was detailed and organized and never pushy. She let us have our day and was there to help transition to the different elements seamlessly, paying attention to all the details so we wouldn't have to. Our guests have had only positive things to say about the entire day from the incredible food and the overall atmosphere. The only critique I have of the entire experience is the check-in process at the Inn. We had a 20 room block and ended up with 29 of the 30 rooms booked by our guests. The Inn has a very strict 2pm early check-in for 50 fee or 3pm otherwise check-in. We had a Sunday wedding in December where we had a first look and formal portraits at 2pm before a 4:00 ceremony because of the early sunset. We weren't able to stay Saturday night due to another wedding buy-out. The Grove accommodated me by making the hospitality suite available for us to get ready in; however, the Inn did not accommodate the groom getting ready. We rented out the Silo/Library for 250 to try to have a space for the men to get ready, but they didn't set up the privacy screen and there were too many people milling around for him to get changed in the non-private space. After a lot of inquiry from our wedding coordinator, our officiant, and our makeup artist, they finally let him into the room at 1:45 for the additional 50, but at that point it was only enough time for him to drop his phone and wallet. He ended up changing in the single stall bathroom in the basement of the Inn, which is a nice bathroom of course, but we would have liked a little more flexibility for us to have 1 room with early check-in to give him a bit more privacy. Flipping one room early for the bride and groom doesn't seem like a lot to ask in the grand scheme of the day or even offering some alternatives - we likely would have paid for a full extra night even if we couldn't get into the room the night before just to have the spot, but they didn't give us any options to work with until 1:45 p.m. ahead of 2pm call time. My recommendation for future couples is to negotiate into the wedding contract for something ahead of time if you could potentially run into the same issue, especially if you're out of towners who don't have other options nearby.

Long Hill

4.9

Beverly, MA
  • Up to 150 guests
  • Raw space
  • Outdoor
  • Starts at $6,000

Elegant plantings and cultivated grounds fill this public garden with vibrancy that's more than a century in the making. Long Hill is a property of The Trustees of Reservations, a Massachusetts non-profit corporation. From 1916 to 1979, Long Hill was the summer home of noted author and editor of The Atlantic Monthly, Ellery Sedgwick. He summered here with his first wife, Mabel Cabot Sedgwick, an accomplished horticulturist, gardener, and author of The Garden Month by Month, and his second wife, Marjorie Russell Sedgwick, a rare plants specialist—both of whom created a delightful, enchanting landscape, surrounded by more than 100 acres of woodland. Today, visitors delight in the beauty of Long Hill’s structured and naturalistic gardens as well as a network of woodland trails. A diverse collection of trees, shrubs, and distinctive perennial plants provide color during the growing season, peaking in May and June and providing structure and beauty throughout the year.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Raw space for complete customization
  • Exudes old-world charm
  • Natural elegance with open spaces

Venue considerations

  • Does not have a dance floor
  • Lighting and sound are not included
  • Limited cleanup and setup services

Long Hill was a dream, it felt like a private fairy garden. Gorgeous location and the perfect size for us to take photos privately and guests to explore but not feel too far away (for wrangling from cocktail hour to dinner for example). The Long Hill staff were super communicative and responsive, sometimes a little stressful to work with as it felt like there were a number of restrictions but this really translated to a very stream-lined and well-organized wedding day as they brought up any potential issues early and then on the actual day they were super, super supportive and great to work with. They do have a list of 5 set caterers you need to work with, we were given an exception because of a dietary restriction my in-laws have (need to pay a 1000 fee), but this was tricky as Long Hill expects caterers to take on much more than just food. You'll also want to rent a dance floor (700 in the area) as the under tent area is brick. We had 115 of us total with buffet & dance floor, it was cozy & lovely but any more than 120 would feel tight to me. We were able to have a ceremony for an extra 1000 and then the reception was 5,200 for 5-10 on a Friday. In addition to the gorgeous gardens and beautiful cocktail area off the porch, we could take photos inside which was really lovely and a great break from the heat (our wedding day was 85 and VERY humid). Felt very professionally run and they worked well with my dear friend who was our day-of-coordinator and we just feel extremely grateful to have such a gorgeous location!

We got married here on Sunday 9/29 and I really can’t say enough good things about this space. The team was great to work with and all of our guests were so impressed by the space because it’s not like anything else really. I LOVED having the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in one room because we wasted almost no part of our day shepherding folks from place to place. The caterer recommended to us, Premier, was also amazing and they were on it and had many great suggestions to make the day as great as possible as they work in the space often. If you want outdoor photos before we found two great little parks to work with and ended up doing our first look and family portraits at “Leather City Commons” which is a three minute drive down the street. Then the two of us walked the ten minute walk back to Olio from there and got some great photos by Peabody City Hall and there are truly a plethora of great brick walls to choose from for a good backdrop! For getting ready we stayed at the Bell Inn and Tavern and their team was also amazing! I got ready in a Junior King Suite my parents were staying in and their team flipped the bridal suite early (as they had a wedding party the night before) so we could do bridal portraits with the moms and my sister. My husband and I stayed there that night and the room is gorgeous. My only regret with that space is we didn’t stay longer because it was so beautiful!!! (And the room service food we ordered from the tavern for lunch was great!) Shout out specifically to Kelsey and Heather for all of their help. Logistically I was a little nervous about it being in Peabody as we live closer to Boston but parking is free on Sundays and folks could Uber easily to the venue. Many out of town folks loved being able to stay near Salem to make it a great weekend trip. Last, I cannot recommend enough having a day of coordinator. I know Sarah who runs Olio has her own planning company and would be amazing to work with. I was lucky enough to have an amazing coworker and friend who helped me out and I literally gave him a binder with everything and I did not stress about anything for the entire day. I did not see my cell phone or get asked a single logistics question all day and it was GLORIOUS. I think that covers everything and will absolutely update if I think of anything else that can help out future brides considering this great space!!!

Vanessa, who resides on site at Veasey Park, made our planning and event execution a total breeze! Her recommendations for bartender and tent/event setup were exactly what we needed. They were attentive and professional. Everyone we encountered in planning and holding our event were so easy to get in touch with, and Vanessa walked us through every step of the way. If you love a beautiful outdoor setting like we do, this historical park is for you! The grounds are stunning, complete with an old 1920’s hunting lodge built by the Veasey family. The park offers stunning views of the lake below, a great playground for young guests to enjoy, and if you time your event correctly, you will find the local farmer bringing his goats in to graze on the abundant vegetation. This venue really focuses on maintaining the natural beauty of the property, both inside and out! If you are looking for a cozier, cooler weather setup, just look to the gorgeous hunting lodge with it’s beautiful hardwood floors and stone chimneys! It was an absolute dream, and we couldn’t have been happier with our choosing Veasey Park for a wedding party!

We had a room block here for our wedding in Beverly, and hosted a brunch the day after (you have to have a catered event at the hotel in order to have a room block). Overall, our experience was pretty good. The hotel has been recently renovated and the rooms were beautiful. The King Suite was great to get ready in - I had 11 people getting hair and makeup done, with 4 artists, and there was enough space. Having the Regatta Pub on site was perfect for a welcome event and post-wedding spot and could easily accommodate a large influx of people. The brunch was ready to go with plenty of tasty food and drink. They also were able to hand out welcome bags when guests checked in. Kristen, who organized the room block, was extremely communicative and responsive to our emails, and helped us add rooms to our block a couple times. We are rating 4/5 stars for a couple reasons. First is that housekeeping never came to the suite to clean after we had left for the wedding, so we returned at the end of the night to all of the room-service coffee/breakfast items that had arrived at 8:30 that morning. When we called the front desk, no one answered. Secondly, while the brunch was great, they do charge a large room fee and administrative fee.

I was a floral designer providing centerpieces for a baby shower held there last fall (2023), in the Phillips Room. My experience as a vendor there was great. The venue was immaculate and modern inside, with the classic New England charm and vibe. The staff could not have been more helpful. They helped me with load-in, and the setup people were friendly and efficient. The coordinator Linda was also friendly, professional and on top of all the many details for the event (food, drinks, balloons, florals, favors, etc.). The room was light and airy, with lots of windows and light. The neutral background would work for almost any color palette. It is a beautiful venue in a classic New England setting, and I highly recommend it!

If you are looking for a nontraditional, absolutely stunning wedding venue, please look no further than the PEM. Getting married in an intimate and elegant setting set the tone for our special day. Natalia is the most knowledgeable and easy person to work with. She was always there to answer our questions, hop on a call, or let us tour the venue multiple times. Natalia also has such a calm presence that is so comforting when wedding planning is so stressful. We always felt like everything would be okay after talking to her. The staff and security were also so kind to us and our guests. Everything about this venue was absolutely perfect.

Everything about this venue was incredible, from the picturesque mansion to the wonderful, supportive staff. From our very first interactions with the sales team (Helen) to our day-of staff (Casey & May), everyone was extremely professional, helpful, and a pleasure to be around. They were gracious in answering our questions, calming our nerves, and being an assuring force throughout it all. We are so grateful for the love and care they put into our special day to keep everything organized and on track. Fireside's food was phenomenal and all the late night snacks and desserts were a huge hit with our guests. There was also a nice flow throughout the night and our guests commented that they were grateful that they knew where to go at every point in the wedding. We had rain on our wedding day but we are pleased to say that the ceremony under the tent was still magical, and actually created a nice moody atmosphere and our photos came out amazing. The heaters kept the tent dry and comfortable all night. We hope someone else we know gets married at the Stevens Estate soon so that we can attend!
