“Richard was great. He was a Preferred Vendor for Saratoga Springs. He had a form that we filled out about a week ahead with music selections and do not plays. It was very thorough. He responded quickly when we reached out to him with questions. The music selection was mostly on me because my husband generally listens to instrumental. I listen to a wide variety of music, so I left it pretty open ended, which I was a little nervous about, but Richard pulled it all together. An eclectic mix, yet cohesive. We had a much smaller turn out than we were expecting and even more dropped out last minute, my guess is because of the weather. It was an outdoor venue and was rainy and cold all day, but managed to burn out by the time the party started. Only raining briefly after dinner (we had umbrellas for everyone). The music selection was great and everyone rallied and had a good time. The last song was All You Need Is Love and a kick line formed with the remaining friends and family. It was ridiculously amusing. 10/10 would recommend Richard to anyone. I spent a good amount of time listening to his mixes on Mixcloud and have really enjoyed them.”

“Our experience working with Jamie and Ceremony DJs can be best summed up by the fact that multiple people told us after the ceremony they wanted to book him for their wedding and at least one got his business card! I can't imagine a better DJ, truly. When we first met with Jamie, he said he could make people dance to anything and would keep people on the dance floor all night, and he WAS NOT LYING. The whole night, the dance floor was PACKED even though it was rainy/muddy/cold/wet. Jamie took us on a journey that covered all of the bases of the music we love to hear and dance to, seamlessly and magically (?) integrating genres with the best mixes, it was pure wizardry and really captured who we were. We as a couple care a lot about music and wanted music that represented who we were and what we like to listen to, and he did not disappoint! So much prep work went into this, he took patience and time to try to understand our tastes and vibe, and it was so cool to have the wedding played on vinyl- basically, Jamie just "got it" from start to finish and we had the best time! Our wedding also got delayed due to rain and a road closure and he was such a good sport, staying late to keep us all dancing for a whole other hour- so fun! Also, when our ceremony musician was stuck in traffic due to the storm, he was so prepared and had our prelude/processional music downloaded so we could still walk down the aisle to the songs we'd chosen. Overall, such a cool, kind, funny guy who was professional and prepared in every way and honest just takes time to meet and know his clients, and clearly just loves to share his love of music. I would book him for everything if I could. BOOK THIS DJ. You will NOT regret it!”

The lead up to our big day was so simple — he created an online portal for us to submit music preferences to and any notes with the music. So simple and easy to use!! On the day of he provided sound for our ceremony, and even changed out a faulty microphone 3 minutes into our ceremony without any guests even noticing. During our reception he did an incredible job commandeering the room, making announcements and introductions as necessary, but not cutting into the dancing whatsoever. “How to begin to sing the praises of the best band there is? We’ll start with unsolicited reviews from our friends: “Would you be offended if I use your same band for my wedding? I feel like anything else would be a let down.” “What’s your band name? I have to follow them on Instagram.” “Pretty sure that was the best band I’ve seen in 20 years of weddings.” We had our wedding at the Prospect Park Boathouse, and by 20 minutes into the first set the band had amassed a crowd of passers-by who stopped to watch and listen from a nearby bridge and stayed all evening long. Logistically, The Cool Rulers made life easy. We had a number of special requests for our wedding and The Cool Rulers approved them without hesitation and executed them flawlessly. This included learning 3 new songs, one of which was to be sung by 2 of our friends. Charles & Co coordinated with our friends to send them a demo and arrange time for a quick rehearsal, all of which culminated in a “performance” that seemed as if it had been rehearsed for months. The even accommodated a specific request for how they were set up, leaving us an aisle to walk down and filling it in during a short break later in the evening. The Cool Rulers are immeasurably talented, and the perfect complement to that talent is their ability to set the tone, ride the energy, and deliver an absolutely perfect evening of music and dancing. “The Lucky Devils Band absolutely made our wedding reception! From our initial phone call with Meredith, we knew we were in excellent hands. She took the time to thoroughly understand our vision and musical tastes, making thoughtful suggestions along the way. Communication was prompt, fun, and Meredith was so approachable throughout the planning process. On the big day, the band blew us away with their incredible talent and ability to perfectly execute our song requests, from jazz to oldies to classic rock. As musicians ourselves, we were so impressed by their skill level and experience and professionalism. During cocktail hour, two musicians played jazz, then they switched to rock mode for the reception. They truly made it feel like our own personal concert and kept people on the dance floor for literally 3 hours! The energy was palpable from their very first note, and their song selections kept guests of all ages dancing all night long. They ended the evening with “Purple Rain” by Prince and it made my life. We can't recommend the Lucky Devils Band highly enough - they were total professionals and our biggest splurge, but SO worth it I’d do it a million times over!!”

“My partner and I asked Nina to bring musicians and call square and contra dances at our wedding reception last November. It was wonderful. We wanted an alternative to a wedding band that was unique and interesting and affordable and charming and down-to-earth, and that went with our summer camp vibe, and Nina really delivered. Almost none of our guests had any prior experience at all square or contra dancing, but Nina knew exactly how to introduce the dance steps and keep everyone engaged. She was quick to respond to the needs of our group, and read the room brilliantly. To our amazement and delight, almost everyone participated, and multiple people told us afterwards that the square dancing was their favorite part of the wedding. Nina called the dances in a way that avoided traditional gender roles and accommodated dancers who didn't have a partner, allowing all of our guests to feel included in the fun. We are particularly appreciative of that. We only had her call for an hour, but we could have very easily and happily done more! In the weeks and days leading up to the wedding, Nina was very easy to communicate with, professional, and thoughtful. I could not recommend her higher for anyone looking for an experienced barn dance caller.”
