I never thought I would be a wedding photographer. I started my professional career in Boulder, Colorado, riding on the backs of motorcycles, chasing professional cyclists through winding roads and epic climbs. I never thought I would find another career as exhilarating and rewarding but I was wrong. I photographed weddings in Colorado, but it wasn’t until moving East, to Charlottesville, Virginia, that I fell in love with them. From developing black and white images in the darkroom to capturing day-to-day happenings as photo manager of the high school yearbook, my camera became an extension of me. Fast forward ten years and I’ve gone on to complete my Bachelor’s, Master’s, and clinical to become a registered dietitian nutritionist. As soon as the music began playing and the bride walked through the doors to come down the aisle, the groom immediately was hit with tears (the type that every bride hopes for). I saw from the corner of my eye that his mom turned around and instead of watching the bride walk down the aisle like everyone else, she watched her son’s reaction in tears.
