Our goal was to make sure no one left the dance floor, and we had an extremely high bar and specific vision for a DJ for our wedding… Davey met and exceeded expectations, and I’d throw another party just to hire him again. He was extremely helpful, available, and consultative throughout the process, which was immensely valuable because we planned the wedding from out-of-state. We wanted a party that started with familiar songs remixes into house music so that the family members could dance to something familiar, and get progressively more dancey throughout the night- and that’s exactly what we got. He’s adaptable and ready to read the crowd to keep everyone involved, which we really appreciated, and was a big priority. He puts the couple first and is very intentional about making sure the night goes smoothly and as expected. It was a party with exactly the right music, and Davey kept everyone dancing- even my 82 year old grandma. We selected Davey because of his knowledge of our music taste (he’d even played some of our favorite NYC clubs), but in referencing him it was clear that his capabilities were not limited to this style- I talked to two other couples who were just as excited about Davey as I am, but with pretty different taste. As we worked with Davey and got to know him, it also became apparent that he’s just an excellent human being, and brought such good vibes and energy to our wedding just for being who he is. To anyone considering, I could not recommend Davey more. We were close on using another vendor whose package included lights, but I’m glad we did not. The lights we would have received were auto-sensing lights that “sync” to the music- but from what I’ve seen, those lights are frenetic and unreliable. We spent some extra money investing in proper lights (Davey helped with a few introductions), and the combination of Davey’s skills and professional lighting transformed a standard wedding to a disco nightclub.”

There were some very minor mistakes made with the wedding party music starting earlier than expected, and our wedding party names when being introduced, but overall that's nothing compared to the wonderful time everyone had dancing! “I can't recommend DJ Phil Does It highly enough! Instead of just churning out a predictable list of generic wedding hits, he played music that was completely tailored to our night. Phil really got to know our taste and did an incredible job mixing guests' requests with our must-play songs and his own selections. His music made the reception feel like somewhere you'd visit on purpose-- like a cool bar where you actively *want* to dance rather than a cheesy event where you're only Cha Cha Sliding because you have to. Another major plus: DJ Phil had a super streamlined and organized booking process. He liaised with our wedding planner to ensure the timeline was flawless, and he gave my husband and me an Excel document that made it easy to specify which songs to play during key moments. The spreadsheet also allowed us to indicate which bands and artists we liked from his record collection so he could bring our favorites with him. At the reception, he set them up in a "vinyl bar" where guests could look through his crates of albums and make requests. People had so much fun with it! The bottom line is that, although I'm usually the annoying music snob hogging the aux cord, I would relinquish musical control to DJ Phil Does It every time. “A few days before our wedding, I got a message from Al saying our DJ had COVID and that they were going to send someone else. I was super bummed because I had loved our original pick (DJ Marcus) who did a fantastic job DJing our friends wedding in 2021. The replacement DJ (DJ Jose) called us right away to review all the details of the night with us. I was still hesitant, but was beginning to feel more comfortable during the conversation. On wedding day, DJ Jose was kind, professional, punctual, and ABSOLUTELY KILLED IT on the dance floor!! No one sat down for the entire night and guests are STILL raving about DJ Jose! Many guests have even requested Jose's song selections for the entire day (ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception) because they loved it so much! I have been playing guitar in Austin, Texas... ...since 1989. I am a full time musician and I perform regularly for corporate events and weddings. Even though I have been playing the guitar for so long there is still so much to learn. I enjoy the process of learning new things and improving on what I already know. There are endless ways you can play a song and there are so many good songs to play. I was born in 1966 so I am heavily influenced by the music around that era which explains The Beatles, Stevie Wonder and The Great American Songbook.

When we hired them after a recommendation/commendation from another couple who called Blind Date the highlight of their wedding, we thought maybe they were being hyperbolic, but we knew at least the band would be good enough for a good time.
