Q: What do you wear?

To weddings I wear a black or dark blue button-up shirt and dark slacks.

Q: What is your travel and break down fee?

If an event is further than one hour's drive from North Austin I will ask for a $50 or $100 travel fee depending on the distance. I do not charge for set-up and break down. Clients only pay for the duration of the event from when music (or sound) first begins to the end of the event.

Q: Do you take music requests?

My clients have the opportunity to be as hands-on or hands-off with music selections at their events as they choose. I send a music request checklist to every client who books me. Clients can give me permission to accept requests from their guests (or not) and can complete a "do-not-play" list to avoid hearing songs or genres they don't like.

Q: Do you provide music for wedding ceremonies or cocktail receptions?

Yes, I can run sound and microphones for your wedding ceremony and play music for cocktail hour.

Q: Are you fully insured?

Yes, I have a $2 million general liability insurance policy.

Q: Do you provide other services, such as lighting or photo booths?

I can always provide dance floor lighting free of charge. I provide uplighting for an additional fee. I do not provide a photo booth service.

Q: How early do you come to set up?

I arrive at a venue at least two hours before I have to run any sound or play any music. So, if your guests will be arriving at 3:00pm for a wedding ceremony at 3:30pm, I will arrive at the venue by (at latest) 1:00pm to begin setting up to play pre-ceremony music when your guests arrive at 3:00pm.

Q: What's the vinyl bar?

For an additional fee I will bring two curated bins of vinyl records (and a case of 45's) from my private collection to your event and invite guests to dig through them, pick out records, and make requests. Depending on the styles of music you are into I can pack the bins with rock, pop, R&B, soul, funk, 80's, and more.

Q: How much do you charge as a deposit and when is my full balance due?

In order to book me, in addition to returning your completed and signed contract, you will have to pay a 25-30% deposit/retainer. Your remaining balance will be due the day before your event.

I'm an event DJ serving Central Texas with more than 18 years of experience rocking parties. I love taking requests and work long hours to custom tailor music selections to the mood of my clients' events. I bring all of my own gear so, if you give me a power outlet, I can start a dance party. I also MC receptions and can run sound and microphones for ceremonies and presentations.

My (1) taste, (2) mixing abilities, (3) vast vinyl record collection, and (4) experience mixing vinyl are the things that separate me from other local professionals. If you love vinyl records, ask about my "Vinyl Record Bar," a service that no other local DJ or event company provides.

DJ Phil was perfect for our wedding party! Our goal was to hire someone with a great taste in music and who would require very little effort on our end, and DJ Phil delivered this perfectly! He is chill and soft-spoken off the mic, which is a refreshing distinction from most DJs who maintain the “zany-radio persona” on and off the mic. He is collaborative and really sought to understand what we wanted at the party. He does a great job working the crowd and reading a room— he was able to turn our chill lovefest into a dance party at his will! We were also appreciative of his ability to correctly “police” crowd requests; parsing out what was and was not appropriate for the event and our tastes. His services outside of just DJ skills, (additional speakers, uplighting, etc) add to the convenience and value of his services. We are very grateful to have worked with him, and couldn’t recommend him more for people looking for a chill, fun party experience!

DJ Phil did an incredible job bringing my vision to life! We held our wedding on a remote ranch atop a hill, and he curated the lighting to create the perfect club-like atmosphere I wanted. Phil kept the energy up all night, even staying past his scheduled time because we were all still on the dance floor. He’s not only a talented DJ but an all-around cool dude. When we got off our first zoom meeting with him before the wedding, my fiancé was like, “I love this guy.” I’ll absolutely be hiring him for any future events. Thank you, Phil, for making my wedding unforgettable! We cannot thank you enough.

We could not ask for a better DJ for our wedding day than DJ Phil Does It. Phil captured the vibe we wanted for our big day perfectly by listening to our requests, helping to organize our thoughts and bringing some flare to the event. From the beginning, Phil was so easy to work and eager to hop on a call. He worked with us to get to know us and what our expectations were to accommodate a few special requests (like mashing a couple of songs together for a special groom's performance). Overall, Phil created the type of overall ceremony/reception we wanted. We absolutely recommend hiring Phil for a wedding or any event that you’re looking to have a DJ set the mood and keep the party going.

DJ Phil Does It was HANDS DOWN the best wedding DJ we've ever had the pleasure of dancing to. From the early conversations in listening and noting the songs we wanted (and didn't want) to hear, to his professionalism throughout the event, to his uncanny ability to read the dance floor and throw songs in that we didn't even know we needed to hear, we just couldn't have been any happier with what he brought to our special day.
