Hi, I'm Sophia, a 26-year-old wedding photographer based just outside DC in NoVA. Capturing love stories through my lens is not just a job but a profound joy that I cherish with every wedding I photograph. It's been six years and I've photographed close to 100 weddings which seems unreal! The photography gene runs in my family, my great-grandfather had his own photography studio in Panama and from there, knowledge of photography was passed down through the generations of my family to me. I believe in always having fun and prioritizing an stress-free lifestyle which translates into my photography style — vibrant, authentic, and joyful.

Awarded Best of Zola
I cannot recommend working with Sophia enough. She was communicative, prompt and very efficient. She really worked with us what we wanted for the day in a short time frame and the photos just speak for themselves. We truly could not be happier that we chose to work with her!

Ivy & Quartz Photography

5.0

  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $3,750
  • Serves Hyattsville, MD

Hi! I'm Nina and I run Ivy & Quartz photography! I shot my first wedding in 2013, but my journey with photography began long before that. When I was about 10 years old, my dad gave me a camera and I quickly became obsessed. My intrigue continued to grow over the years and I went on to earn my BA in Studio Art , Photography, from the University of Virginia. After graduating I worked as a portrait photographer and decided to pursue and earn my MFA in Imaging Arts from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Awarded Best of Zola
After friends shared a photo of my then fiance and me at their own wedding, we hired the photographer who took it. This was Nina! That one photo inspired us to review the gallery of their entire wedding and then her portfolio and we were blown away. 7 months later our own wedding day arrived. My husband and I are the type of people who are wildly present and constantly forget to take photographs of our life together. We knew we wanted to capture this day without the photography becoming a chore or hindering our ability to do what we do best and enjoy our time. Nina was able to provide just that and was incredible (as was the second photographer she worked with for our big day). Nina seamlessly handled all the chaotic moments and pre-ceremony stress of the very emotional bride (me) in stride! With very little direction she navigated all aspects of a wedding day with absolute poise and grace. I cannot thank her enough for taking on such leadership and just GETTING IT DONE! Nina captured all the big and tiny pieces that go into a wedding and I felt her photo choices, angles, and poses perfectly captured the essence of me and my husband's personalities. At every avenue Nina was a professional, personable, and I never expected I could be so satisfied with a collection of photographs. THANK YOU SO MUCH NINA.

Cesario Mendez Photography

5.0

  • Photojournalistic style
  • Serves Hyattsville, MD

When I am not behind the camera or editing photos, I enjoy short Uber rides to bottomless brunch on the weekends; right now mimosas and I kinda have a thing going on! I have a special relationship with bourbon and FIRMLY believe in putting food on the grill during late afternoons should be the norm. I am blessed to be married to the happiest person on earth (I am so serious), who just happens to double as my favorite person. She keeps me grounded and never fails to remind me how great she is.

Awarded Best of Zola
Cesar was easily our favorite wedding vendor. He is just as fun as his website is. We are based in NY and originally from DC so our wedding was in DC. We picked our package assuming we wouldn't have an engagement session because of our different locations (honestly thought they were kind of cheesy - why are we suddenly models just because we got engaged?). Cesar told us he has family in Brooklyn and suggested we schedule a time where he could MEET US in the city for our engagement session! He came up and met us on a Wednesday at the crack of dawn (at my request) to get sunrise shots on the Brooklyn bridge and in nearby DUMBO. We are not super comfortable getting our picture taken so this was perfect to get comfortable with Cesar - he made it easy with his personality and laid back attitude. This ended up being great for the day of because we already knew him and were comfortable. His tricks and direction for us to act out for the shots really broke the ice and made them more natural and fun. At the end of our session we were shocked at how much fun we had. The pictures were so epic, I couldn't believe it was us. Now I get all the hype about engagement pics and am so thankful we have them. We even used one of the shots for a framed picture for our guests to sign at our cocktail hour. Leading up to the wedding, I had a meeting with Cesar to get our shot list in order and he guided me through everything. He even agreed last minute to our locations on the day of (all of that was on us for doing things last minute) - NOVA and DC venue/church, all while battling Saturday DC traffic. He even took myself, the groom, and best man in his Uber from the church to the venue! My wedding coordinator was trying to run the show for the shots with no knowledge of the shot list, so I asked Cesar to take lead and he did. My husband was getting cranky about all the pictures and Cesar was fun but firm with his direction. Exactly what was needed, especially when interacting with two different families. We didn't have Cesar for the whole reception, so he made sure to get great shots of the cocktail hour and the dances and group shots on our list beforehand. Absolutely beautiful photos that we will treasure forever. The length of this review should show you how great Cesar's services were appreciated!

Lindsay King Photography

5.0

  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $4,500
  • Serves Hyattsville, MD

We are a passionate and creative husband and wife photography team who have a serious soft spot for documenting love stories. The big and little moments in life matter and we believe that everyone deserves to have photos that remind them of all the joy, tears, laughter, and adventure that surrounded them on the most momentous days in their life.

Awarded Best of Zola
"When you look back at these photos years from now, what do you want to feel?" was the question that Lindsay asked my then-fiancée and me when we first met to talk about wedding photography. We said that we wanted to be transported back to that moment, and remember what it felt like being there on that day. Looking at the photos now, this is EXACTLY what Lindsay and her husband/co-photographer Greg delivered. Lindsay's photos go so far beyond just documenting what happened - they capture the joy, the emotion, the tears, the excitement. Using some kind of camera magic, she captures the cozy mood lighting of our venue exactly as it felt, the sparkle of the lights and the dark wood of the bar, no overexposed flashes or dimness at all. Our formal photos are serene and gorgeous, our dancing photos are chaotic and full of light and energy. I don't know how she caught it all, because I hardly remember seeing her on the day, but she managed to capture even the little accidental unscripted moments that might have otherwise been lost to time. The dash from the car to the venue, through the rain umbrella in hand, is now one of my favorite memories AND favorite photos, all thanks to Lindsay. On top of all that, Lindsay and Greg are just lovely people. They immediately made us feel comfortable, and quickly got us past the inherent goofiness of posing for photos. They were responsive, communicative, so easy to work with, and made sure they understood our vision for the day so they could take photos that captured it. We absolutely could not be happier with our wedding photos and wholeheartedly recommend Lindsay King Photography.

Bring on all the joy, laughter, tears, letting go and holding close. I want to capture these connections, so that you can have photos to hold in your hand and remind you what it felt like the day you were married. You deserve to celebrate without feeling as if you are on a daylong photoshoot — I will help you to really live your wedding day. Let's live your life celebrations and let go of “supposed to do.” If you find yourself craving a wedding day experience that is more enjoying the day and less about all day posing, you are in the right spot.

Hiring Kelly was absolutely one of the best decisions that we made for our wedding and we can’t recommend her highly enough. She spent so much time getting to know us before the wedding, and our photos very clearly reflect her attention to capturing what was important to us. We really wanted to see the joy and breadth of emotions of the day and wanted photos that reflected our wedding as vibrant and loving, and that shines through in every photo!! Kelly is also so personable and brings such a wonderful energy to all parts of the process which made us feel so comfortable and so happy to have her with us! In addition to creating a photography schedule that was invaluable and that we shaped the rest of the schedule around, she made sure to note people’s accessibility needs and to work with us closely on comfort for everyone as we had a lot of access needs. She answered every question we had happily and was just such a wonderful part of our day!! She also did our engagement photos at Great Falls and they turned out just so gorgeous. I had a lot of anxiety about how I would feel about the photos as a plus size bride and Kelly listened to my concerns and made me so comfortable and I’m so so thrilled with the photos and feel gorgeous in all of them, which I'm very grateful for!

Darcy Troutman Photography

Are you tired of scrolling through wedding websites full of photos of shoes/calligraphy/earrings/etc. and wondering where the people are? Do you love moments more than things? If yes, you're in the right place. Forget about the table settings, instead embrace spontaneous joy and honest, natural moments.

Darcy was an absolute pleasure to work with and we LOVE our photos. She truly captured the emotions of the day and the essence of all the people we love the most. Any time i look at our photos, i find myself involuntarily smiling. She captured the classic posed photos AND the precious in-between moments where people are being their most authentic selves (the face my dad makes when he's really intently listening, the hand gestures my mom uses when she's explaining something and can't find the right words, the face my mother in law makes when she's cracking herself up, the face my father in law makes right before the tears fall, and so so many more). Not ONLY are her photos amazing, but she made us feel so relaxed on the day-of. Her style is totally unobtrusive, which is just what we needed. Darcy got such amazing photos of all our guests we put 4x6" prints in our thank you cards and people were SO appreciative. She's on fridges across America. Comments we've gotten in response to Darcy's photos: "WOW your photographer is phenomenal", "this is the best photo of us in existence", "you guys look so happy!", "I feel like the photographer really captured your personalities" If capturing joy is important to you, hire Darcy. My only regret is getting her for 7 hours instead of 9.

I specialize in capturing the real, candid moments during your wedding day. My approach is all about blending seamlessly into your event. Clients often describe me as calm, cool, and personable. While I take a variety of photos, I stay in the background, moving fluidly throughout the day. My goal is to preserve those fleeting moments, often capturing details you might not have noticed in the excitement of the day. My role also is to make your day stress-free. Whether it's helping direct family for portraits or keeping things running smoothly, I'll be by your side to ensure you feel comfortable and at ease throughout the entire process.

Awarded Best of Zola
We cannot say enough good things about Konrad and his incredible work on both our engagement shoot and our wedding day! From the very first consultation, it was clear that he was not only professional but also genuinely passionate about his craft. He took the time to understand our vision for photography and delivered beyond our expectations—without breaking the bank! After our engagement shoot he surprised us with a behind the scenes video of our day and we were sold on adding the video option to our wedding day. On the day of the wedding, he was calm, organized, and made us feel so comfortable. His attention to detail was amazing, capturing all of the candid moments, the beautiful portraits, and even the small, intimate touches we didn’t notice ourselves. He managed to blend seamlessly into the background while still getting the most stunning shots. What really stood out to us was his ability to balance both photography and videography without sacrificing quality in either area. The photos are breathtaking, and the 4 minute wedding video perfectly tells the story of our day, with all the right moments captured in the most beautiful way. We were also impressed with how quickly he turned around our photos and video—it didn’t take long to relive those precious memories! All of this came at a price that was surprisingly reasonable, especially when you consider the high level of service and talent he brings to the table. We truly feel like we got the best of both worlds: top-tier photography and videography at a price that fit our budget. If you’re looking for a photographer who will not only meet your expectations but exceed them, we highly recommend Konrad. Thank you for making our special day unforgettable!

From a young age, she discovered the power of storytelling through her mom's scrap books and National Geographic magazines, sparking an undying fascination with capturing the essence of life's most profound moments. She studies under renowned photographers, soaking up their wisdom and honing her own unique style; authentic photojournalism.

Awarded Best of Zola
Choosing Katelyn as our wedding photographer was undoubtedly one of the easiest and best decisions we made for our wedding day! We had the pleasure of seeing her work firsthand at a friend's wedding, with who knows how many cameras strapped on! Seeing her attention to detail firsthand and the beautiful quality of our friends photos, she was first on our list for a consultation. From our first call, Katelyn embraced our vision with enthusiasm and professionalism. We knew we wanted a documentary-style photographer with the option of film photos (we loved that Katelyn includes these already) who could capture the genuine emotions and candid moments of our wedding with our lively group, and Katelyn delivered! Despite our initial nervousness about being in front of the camera, Katelyn made us feel incredibly comfortable. Having an engagement shoot beforehand was a great practice run, she has an incredible talent for putting people at ease, and this truly shines through in the photos. We have never felt so photogenic! Our album turned out better than we could have dreamed up. It is truly reflective of us and our day. Complete with details of my treasured Kirkland sweatpants on the way to our venue contrasted with my dress glam Katelyn’s commitment to us was truly exceptional as she had a family loss shortly before our wedding. It would have been more than understandable for her to need more time away or to find us a replacement. Despite this, Katelyn remained fully committed to capturing our day and we are so so grateful. Her dedication and professionalism during such a difficult time speaks volumes about her passion for her work and for her clients. Katelyn is a true artist and an amazing person. Her work exceeded all our expectations, and we feel so fortunate to have had her as part of our wedding team. The only question we have is how early is too early for a vow renewal so we can hire her again!

Imagine a wedding photography experience that’s more than just photos—one where your story is captured with depth, intention, and artistry. Our approach blends editorial style with a photojournalistic touch, ensuring each moment, from the quiet glances to the grand celebrations, is preserved in its truest form. Serving Washington D.C., NYC, and Florida—but always ready to travel wherever love takes us—we limit the weddings we accept each year to give each couple the attention they deserve. Let us help create a collection of images that feels like poetry—rich, authentic, and filled with emotion.

We want special photos before our wedding for invites, the website, and a photo album for guests to sign. We found Juniett and Julian very last minute and had only a short window in which we would be available for a photoshoot. They suggested a sunrise photoshoot in Shenandoah, which was right up our alley. They were fun, friendly, professional, and great at what they do. They handled all the logistical matters. They made the photoshoot fun and effortless for us. Juniett and Julian clearly had a vision in mind and executed it flawlessly, the results of which we will cherish forever. They even sent us a cute gift to celebrate our wedding several months later. If you're looking to book an up-and-coming photographer in the DC area, look no further than this duo.

I’ve been honored to have my personal creative work featured in Stencil Magazine and The Phoblographer. With experience ranging from Disney’s Photopass program to weddings, events, and even automotive photography, I bring a diverse skill set to every shoot. My passion for capturing moments and my technical expertise in both photography and videography ensure that each session is tailored to create timeless, captivating imagery.

We found "Mark Joven Photography" through my fiancé who worked with him before during group trips with his friends. I really liked the photos he took we booked him for our engagement photos and he did NOT disappoint at ALL! He brought two assists with him and spent 2 days taking photos for us at multiple locations of our choosing! Mark was very professional and made each day go by seamlessly! We hung out like old friends and made a day of Magic Kingdom after taking our photos at our favorite places in the park! We got all our shots back within a week of taking them and they were all so beautiful I cried! They are some of the best pictures I’ve ever had! We decided to hire him for our wedding as a videographer and backup photographer should we need him! Also his prices are SUPER reasonable and affordable! If you’re looking to book him I wouldn’t hesitate! I’m pretty sure we’re gonna use him for future milestones! Mark is definitely a 10/10 and as a former photographer myself I am VERY picky when it comes to my photography so I can say I don’t say 10/10 unless i truly mean it!!

I initially had first hand experience with Jamaal's work while being in a good friend's wedding last year. A this wedding Jamaal was great. He paid attention to detail, was prompt and on time, didn't need to be told to capture certain moments, etc. When it came time for my big day, I knew I had the perfect person in mind. My wife and I decided to go the conservative route and have a small wedding w/ reception dinner at a restaurant. However, based on our wedding photo sneak peaks that Jamaal provided after; you would think it was a bigger wedding that what it actually was! Which is exactly what we wanted. He captured every moment perfect. My wife and I are happy to have worked with J. and hope to use him in the future for whatever occasion we have coming up next! Thank you again J!

My passion for photography grew when my daughter, Lotus, was born in 2004 and I began documenting her childhood with an eye toward catching each irreplaceable moment. Soon, friends and then friends of friends asked me to photograph their children and families. Before long, I was documenting the lives and milestones of people all over the DMV area. I realized how happy I was connecting with people and capturing special moments, and so I launched Lotus Photography in 2012 - named for my first muse. I fell in love with capturing weddings in 2017 and I have been hooked ever since!

Georgette took our engagement portraits in DC at sunrise and they are absolutely stunning images! Georgette’s energy and excitement about her work is truly infectious, and she made our shoot so enjoyable! We laughed the whole time and had so much FUN. Georgette did an awesome job of helping us find natural poses that photographed really well, while also embracing any spontaneous moments during the shoot (we love a jumping shot!) She captured our personalities so well. The images are absolutely stunning and bring back warm memories of our amazing experience capturing our engagement photos. :)

Everyone loved her job and she sent the pictures so fast that I was really impressed! From now one my dates for events with pictures will depend on her agenda. And using a trained eye and subtle approach, I do so unobtrusively.

She listened carefully to what we wanted - minimal posed pictures, non-traditional "first look", lots of candids, etc - and she more than delivered. We had 130 guest count and Natasha covered basically every inch of our wedding day, no need or want for a second shooter. She was everywhere and so stealthy that we didn't realize she was so close to us the whole night until we got our pictures back. Our ceremony was outside and dinner/dancing were inside, and regardless of the lighting, the pictures turned out perfectly, she was even able to capture non-blurry pictures of guests jamming on a packed dance floor! She was a pleasure to work with, the instructions of her process were easy to follow from start to finish, and had a lot of examples to look through which gave us a good idea of what we were getting. We especially appreciated that she sent us a few pictures the morning after our wedding as a sneak peek, very nice touch. She's genuinely kind and calm which helped us remain present during our wedding day. Everyone who has seen our photos are amazed by the quality and we are too. We're thrilled we picked Natasha and highly recommend her!

On your Wedding Day and we want your personality to shine through in all of your wedding photos. You're going to have the best day ever and we'll be there to photograph every laugh, tear, and moment you wish you could remember forever! Our couples come from every walk of life and we love that they know they can be who they are with us! Comfort is key when it comes to choosing your Wedding Photographer because we're capturing your memories on the biggest days of your life. On the day of your wedding, you’ll say "I do", blink and it’ll be over. It's ok though! You’ll sleep easy knowing you'll always be able to look back at your Wedding Day in bright, beautiful color when you receive your wedding photos in about 4-6 weeks.

Joseh and Nicole are incredible at what they do. Not only do they capture those most special moments, but they see beyond and catch the magic of the day in a way that really sets them apart from other photographers. They are incredibly professional, and make an effort to really get to know their couples in order to really capture their story on their wedding day. I recommend them to all the couples I meet.

I am more than just a wedding photographer. I am also your hype woman, go-to for all wedding planning questions and day-of help, and #1 cheerleader during the wedding planning process. Ask any of my past couples... I will definitely be on the dance floor at your reception! I pride myself on helping my clients feel comfortable in front of my lens. You would not believe how many times clients have told me they don't like taking photos or "aren't photogenic," and then end up loving their photos! I am based in the DC area, and central Texas.

I can't say enough great things about Anna! She took photos for our wedding welcome party, and they are gorgeous - she got the lighting perfect (and it was challenging in a dark room!), got every shot I even imagined, and turned around sneak peeks truly the SAME evening! I was so pleased with the entire process from start to finish and would recommend Anna to anyone looking for a photographer!

Photos from the Harty is a small but mighty team of wedding, event, & lifestyle photographers. We've photographed - and attended - tons of events, weddings, etc. We've learned a lot. One of the things that has really stuck with us is this: not only do you need to love your photos, but you also need to love the photographer. You'll be spending the majority of your day with this person.

Looking for a sign that you’ve found the right photographer and your search is over? Look no further than Photos from the Harty! Our search turned up countless potential photographers, but our interview with Photos from the Harty sealed the deal. They are so personable and fun that we knew they would fit right in at our wedding - and they did! They were with us during every moment from intimate to silly and they made us feel super comfortable as if we were being photographed by longtime friends. The best part? The love and happiness that we felt during our wedding day is felt in every single photo. They captured our wedding day so perfectly that when it came time to hire a photographer for maternity photos and family photo shoots - there was no question who we wanted (and those photos all turned out perfectly, too)!! They have our highest recommendation. Stop looking and hire them, now!

Hi - I'm Danielle. A wife. A mom to three wonderful children. A wedding photographer. I've been shooting weddings since 2010. 300++ weddings and counting. I love working with natural light, real moments, and images with energy and emotion. I would love the privilege of hearing your love story. If you'd like to inquire, please email or call to set up an interview.!

We hired Danielle Real for our engagement and wedding photos. She is a preferred vendor of District Winery, where we got married, and it was easy to see why. She’s a true professional and a master at photography. She made us feel at ease during our engagement photos by helping us choose the outfits that would work best with the setting and teaching us how to pose. On the day of our wedding, she was prompt and attentive. As a result of our productive planning meeting about a month before our wedding, she had a list of all the photos we wanted (most because of her great suggestions!) and we sailed right thru them. Bonus: she is a pro people-wrangler. She also knows the exact right spots for each kind of photos at District Winery which helped moved things along so much that we achieved our goal of not having to take any photos during cocktail hour so we could enjoy it too! We just finished going through all of our wedding photos and could not be happier - so many to love!

Growing up with a passion for skateboarding provided me with a creative view of the world around me. I've been taking pictures professionally for about 8 years and I'm inspired by the music I listen to and those that I love being creative with. I have also photographed many different subjects, scenes, and moments! There's a picture around every corner.

Steve photographed our wedding, which was pretty small by most standards. He arrived on time, prepared, and he was very easy to work with both before and during the event. His photographs turned out great, and we can definitely say he gave us a good value for what we paid. We would gladly recommend him to any of our friends for their photography work. Thanks again Steve

You just have to live and life will give you pictures. The first time I saw the photographs of Henri Cartier-Bresson, I knew photography was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life! His mantra is exactly how I approach wedding photography. I want you two as a couple to enjoy your wedding, having the best day of your lives, and amazing photographs will come from your joy.

If you’re looking for a wedding photographer in the DC area, stop and boom James immediately! We really liked James from the first time we saw his portfolio online, and felt very confident after our first call with him that we had found the photographer we wanted to work with. He was really thoughtful in sending us sample galleries from weddings he had done that were in similar venues to ours. We could not have made a better choice! He was good at communicating and working out details prior to the wedding, even scouting out potential locations in case of rain in the forecast. On the day itself he was fantastic and provided just the right amount of direction to get good shots while putting everyone at ease. He also captured all the special candid moments and I still don’t know how he managed to get so many different angles and shots during the ceremony. We also absolutely loved the video slideshow he did with our speeches and the photos. We’ll always treasure the stunning photos we have from our wedding and couldn’t recommend James more highly!

The biggest failure at the end of our lives would be trading our intimacy for our fears in light of playing it safe. This season of your lives may make you feel unwelcome and even excluded as dive into your wedding research. Listen to this: No matter where you’re from, who you pray to, what you weigh, who you voted for or who you love; who you are and who you’re becoming as individuals and as a whole are what matter to us most. We're a team of people loving, color-addicted, and moment-captured wedding photographers based in DC with over 300 weddings of experience. We've shot stories in over 20 countries and 30 states.

Our photographer was Katherine and we couldn't have been happier! She was so easy to work with from beginning to end and her photos are absolutely beautiful. She definitely kept the day flowing as it should. Katherine is super down to earth and it felt like a friend was with me all day!
