Hi! I'm Nina and I run Ivy & Quartz photography! I shot my first wedding in 2013, but my journey with photography began long before that. When I was about 10 years old, my dad gave me a camera and I quickly became obsessed. My intrigue continued to grow over the years and I went on to earn my BA in Studio Art , Photography, from the University of Virginia. “After friends shared a photo of my then fiance and me at their own wedding, we hired the photographer who took it. This was Nina! That one photo inspired us to review the gallery of their entire wedding and then her portfolio and we were blown away. 7 months later our own wedding day arrived. My husband and I are the type of people who are wildly present and constantly forget to take photographs of our life together. We knew we wanted to capture this day without the photography becoming a chore or hindering our ability to do what we do best and enjoy our time. She captured the classic posed photos AND the precious in-between moments where people are being their most authentic selves (the face my dad makes when he's really intently listening, the hand gestures my mom uses when she's explaining something and can't find the right words, the face my mother in law makes when she's cracking herself up, the face my father in law makes right before the tears fall, and so so many more). We kept our outside (super cold) ceremony for that December and Mariandree was more than willing to accommodate, given the circumstances. She was a real trooper out there with us on the freezing Waterfront, and we got some amazing photos back within a week! Mariandree was more than gracious to allow us to reschedule the second half of our photoshoot for September 2021 where we finally got to enjoy a small backyard reception. She brought her sister along as a second photographer for the first round, and her mom for the second. It made it really fun and relaxing because she got along so well with my own mom. “We found "Mark Joven Photography" through my fiancé who worked with him before during group trips with his friends.
