About Joint Venture

Joint Venture

Chef

Danny has spent the past dozen years working in kitchens around New York City and abroad. After attending the French Culinary Institute, Danny worked at Momofuku Ko, Isa, Estela, and Cabane à Sucre Au Pied de Cochon in Montreal. In 2015, Danny founded Joint Venture as a way to explore how food can bring people together beyond the confines of a restaurant’s four walls. JV is a departure from and reaction to the kitchens of his past. It's about collaborating with friends, reconnecting with nature, and working directly with farmers and producers. JV creates menus that are of the season and expressive of their surroundings. JV is ever-evolving.

Working closely together, we’ll develop a custom menu that aligns with your vision. Sitting face-to-face, sharing ideas, and tasting things together is the way we create a food experience for your special day. Through building our relationship, learning about your individual paths and specific palates, we are able to enhance your vision. Our inspiration comes from the natural world and every meal is planned based on seasonality and sustainability. Our expertise in cooking the freshest ingredients over live fire brings a sense of immediacy and emotion to every event.

Alexis and Ryan were inspiring to work with because they both are so excited about food. Alexis is a chef and Ryan is an enthusiastic eater. They appreciate fresh, local ingredients and allowed me to play to my strengths: working with nearby farms and vendors to secure the best produce and products and cooking over live fire to get the deepest flavors. We created a menu that felt reflective of the venue (the horse farm where Alexis grew up) and the surrounding landscape (the Catskills, where so much delicious food is grown).

The Joint Venture team absolutely made our wedding. Each guest we’ve spoken with since has raved about the food unprompted, and every single dish, from the harvest table tinned fish and smoked meats spread, to the late night smash burgers and chorizo dogs, has gotten a special shout out. Danny and Georgia gave us months of their time and creativity, and crafted an ambitious local menu that felt like us. When the big day came they executed to perfection, and their instincts at every phase of the day were spot on. Cocktails were done perfectly, presentation was show stopping at every turn. And the team on the ground was so professional and efficient and just so much fun. Joint Venture earns our highest recommendation and admiration, and will be the only caterer we consider for future events.

Danny, Georgia, Francis, and their entire team were perfect to work with for our Hudson Valley wedding dinner. The food was above and beyond typical caterers, focusing on the most delicious seasonal, local produce. Months later, we're still getting compliments from our guests that this is the best wedding meal they've ever had, and how much they loved everything from the perfectly grilled steak with charred scallion chimichurri to the insanely fresh corn with husk cherries, sweet peppers, and cashew cream. Our meat-loving guests said they never tasted vegetables that amazing. No detail was overlooked, even the butter served during cocktail hour was receiving compliments for it's outstanding flavor. The quality of the meal they were able to achieve for a 120 dinner party was truly impressive. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone that wants their dinner experience to be unforgettable.

I had a wonderful experience working with Joint Venture to provide the catering for our wedding recently. From beginning to end, the team was helpful, organized, and warm. I loved seeing Danny's passion for food and creativity shine; Georgia was an incredibly gentle and supportive presence throughout and especially the day of; the service team was awesome. And of course, the food was so delicious and beautiful -- it was the center point of our small, very casual event, and well worth investing in. I highly recommend Joint Venture to any couple looking for a reliable and talented catering partner for their wedding day.

Joint Venture cooked some of the best food of our lives for our wedding of 135 people last year in the Catskills. Danny somehow managed to create a menu that was comforting and indulgent, yet nourishing. I'm a musician who's played hundreds of weddings and I've never experienced a caterer close to Joint Venture's level. He also focuses on seasonal ingredients and sustainable farming practices-- even growing some of the food for the meal himself. We couldn't recommend Joint Venture more to anyone looking for a transcendent catering experience that's also down-to-earth (literally).
