Nestled halfway between Lake Tahoe and Yosemite in the high Sierra, Bear Valley is a paradox of sorts — a vast alpine basin filled with all the means to explore four seasons while being so small it feels like a private escape to granite-filled solitude. Mokelumne Peak, the shining star of the Mokelumne Wilderness and the Stanislaus National Forest, plays as the immediate backdrop to a day making turns at Bear Valley Resort. By summer, the snow gives way to hiking and mountain biking trails (rentals available), a disc golf course in the Village, and kayak rentals for the surrounding lakes, the closest of which, Lake Alpine, is only a small trek up the road. If you are staying on the Mountain in a glamping tent, Lake Alpine is just about a mile away.

Originally called Cold Spring Ranch due to an ice cold spring. The Dorrington Hotel was built in 1852 by John Gardner who married Rebecca Dorrington and moved her out from Scotland. Once a fully operational riding stable with over 50 horses and ponies, we now use the property for events and weddings to maintain and restore its rich history for all to enjoy!

Bridgeport Ranch Barns & Terrace is a unique, seasonal, outdoor event venue. Located in the heart of the scenic and historic valley of Bridgeport, California, your special event will have the panoramic view of the meadows and Eastern Sierra Mountains. Within an hour drive of Yosemite National Park, and 2 hours of South Lake Tahoe, Bridgeport is easily accessible via Highway 395. The barns were originally built in 1871 by Stewart Kirkwood, primarily to feed and harness draft horses that were used for cutting and stacking hay, and then hauling it to the town of Bodie. Today they have been lovingly restored and updated to provide this one of a kind event venue, while still maintaining a great many original features and artifacts that remind us of their history.
