The LEX 530 building was once the home of Pacemaker Trailer Co., one of the earliest RV companies in Elkhart. Carl makes his own line of boutique wines in Napa Valley and brings that wine back to Elkhart to sell at LEX 530. Built in 1893, the former city hall of Fort Wayne is a beautiful example of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture. Established in 1977, Matterhorn has become one of Elkhart’s most treasured and long-standing venues. The helpful staff can easily join the East, Oak, and West Rooms into a combination that best suits the desired needs and capacity. Original element of the 1928 Armory construction and subsequent Newman Recreations Center were incorporated into the even space renovation to provide the perfect blend of past and present.Iron-barred doors used to secure armers and thick concrete walls reinforced with brick to accommodate the National Guard Armory and shooting range lend a rustic industrial aesthetic. Wood from the recreation center bleachers line the dramatic bar and the orginial hardwood floor was dressed up to grace the ballroom. The vaulted timber ceilings and exposed truss work allow the dazzling period chandeliers an opportunity to lend an air of elegance to the urban decor.
