He cleared a field for a vineyard and until his death in 1972 (at the age of 92), he made wine in the basement of the main house every autumn.

There are so many unique elements of the Venue such as the large Winery space entrance doors that were obtained from an old home in Savannah GA, and the free standing fireplace at the Pavilion that was from the original home built on the land back in the 1800's. We are a small to medium sized barn venue. The Emerald Woods is a beautiful historic venue in Western North Carolina hosting weddings, small personal retreats and private gatherings.
