Located in downtown Kansas City, the Midland is a classic wedding venue, blending historic elegance with modern AV and professional production capabilities. The theatre is well known for its over 500,000 feet of gold leaf, five giant hand-cut crystal chandeliers, irreplaceable art objects, and spectacular wood and plaster work.​

The Pilgrim Center and its predecessor have been building community in midtown, Kansas City, Missouri for nearly 50 years. In the late-1960’s, a group of involved neighborhood leaders first gathered in Westport to address the issues of violence and crime that were overtaking their historic neighborhood. Out of their discussions, the Westport Allen Center was born, and two young seminarians, Roger and Liz Coleman, were invited to lead this organization. The Westport Allen Center purchased a building and began offering the space free to groups interested in improving the community. Before long, the first Free Clinic in the area opened, rehearsal space was provided for what would become the Kansas City Ballet, the Allen Edison school was founded, and affordable housing for seniors created in the neighborhood. Making childcare, education, healthcare, senior living, and arts programming available to the area were big steps in rebuilding a healthier community for Westport.

In April 2022, leading independent promoter Mammoth purchased and took ownership of the historic theater. As with many of the company’s ventures, mammoth’s goal is to build on the venue’s amazing legacy of artists while continuing to attract and grow a diversity of performers to the theater. the company also remains committed to preserving the building’s history and enhancing the performer and fan experience.

And if you are having an event that requires folks to come from out of town, we offer group room rates to accommodate your guest’s hotel needs. We are available for set up of the space, as well as tear down and cleanup of the venue once you are finished. We provide tables, chairs, and linens. We also provide items for rent to use while you are utilizing our facility such as chairs covers, punch bowl, wrought iron garden arch, and mirrors for the center of tables. The Ivory Grille Restaurant and Lounge are available for both catering needs and bar needs.

This historic space first opened for business in 1922 as a silent movie house, called the Rosedale Theatre, and was revamped as The Vox Theatre in the 1940s. The building's art deco craftsmanship, seen through vibrant brick inlays offers a dramatic entrance into the space.
