About this venue

Since our origin on October 12, 1894, the Waterloo Elks Lodge 290 has established itself as a charitable organization throughout our long and prestigious history. By incorporating the four stations of fidelity, brotherly love, charity and justice, the Waterloo Elks have played and will continue to play an active role in the community and Elkdom. As a nonprofit, all money we raise supports veterans, youth and community. The Elks purchased this property in 1917 from the Julian Richards estate. The building was one of the finest oil residences in the city, being well-constructed and large enough to accommodate the lodge temporarily. The building was remodeled to accommodate a ballroom; members bar and card room and billiard room. In the basement there were four bowling alleys, a gymnasium, grill, kitchen and serving pantry, along with showers, lockers and the boiler rooms. The building was dedicated with a cornerstone in 1924, the year the Elks started using it as their Lodge.

The Park Avenue Lounge is an informal space located just within the entrance of the Lodge and includes a fully-stocked bar. It’s a great place to mingle with others in a social environment, but can also be used for more formal occasions.

Ballroom

The Ballroom provides an aura of class for your big event and is a favorite location to hold both wedding receptions and ceremonies. Those who choose to use the Ballroom have access to an exclusive entrance for their guests, allowing them to reach the event with ease.

Lodge Room

Located on the second floor of the Lodge, the Lodge Room is decorated with wooden accents. Its formal atmosphere can accommodate a wide variety of events and is a short walk away from Gatsby’s, our in-house fine dining experience.

Brass Lounge

We have a space for all your needs

On the lowermost floor of the Elks Lodge lies the Brass Lounge. Decorated with chandeliers, the lounge has a private entrance and a full-service bar to add functionality to the character and ambiance the room provides.
