About this venue
A home for weddings, celebrations, or the perfect sound side cocktail party, Sound View Greenport is the newly renovated, boutique Resort on the North Fork, with the ability to host events up to 200 guests (with a full venue buyout) or a small intimate wedding in our Library room, up to 50 guests. The convivial atmosphere and timeless charm of our spaces and grounds will provide you and your guests with memories to last a lifetime. Whether it is saying “I Do” on our private beach or celebrating a bridal shower or rehearsal dinner in our cozy library, our catering team is on hand to create a tailor-made event for your enjoyment. The Halyard can accommodate a seated wedding with dance floor for up to 130 guests and can offer a cocktail style reception for larger groups up to 150. Create the wedding weekend of your dreams.

Yes, we have a quarter- mile of private beach. But our guests deserve even more. So, uniquely, we also have an exclusive, waterfront pool that looks out to the Sound, with food and drink from Jack’s Shack. Watch the sun kiss the sea, bring the magic back up with rope -lights and floating candles, and sip a cocktail while your choice of music carries on the breeze. The Halyard
The Halyard Restaurant offers our world on a plate, using all -fresh produce with stunning seafood, all accompanied by wine sourced from our region.
The decor is inspired by maritime traditions: classic captains’ chairs and wooden tables are housed in a space flooded with natural light from our vaulted ceiling with its distinctive exposed trusses. Having eaten, guests can then stroll through to the surrounding outdoor deck to drink in views of the Sound. Dine together or transform the space into a dance floor for an all- nighter to remember –it’s up to you.

Our Dream Wedding
After visiting The Haylard, my then-fiancé and I knew it was the perfect wedding venue! From the location, to the food, to the staff, everything contributed to make it the most special day. Caroline is truly amazing and made sure every last detail was coordinated so that we did not need to worry in the slightest on the day of. She is beyond thoughtful and put so much care into making sure our day was perfect (even despite a last minute move to an indoor ceremony). Nothing missed a beat. Our guests told us countless times during and after the wedding that it was the best wedding they had every been to, that it was the best wedding food they had ever been to and they couldn't stop raving about Greenport and the Halyard. There is not enough space to say all the wonderful things about the staff and the venue that I would like to, but my husband and I could not recommend the Halyard more. It was a perfect day! We're ready to do it again!
The North Fork's Best Waterfront Venue
I've been a wedding photographer on the North Fork for 10+ years and since The Halyard came on the scene it has quickly proven itself as a top event venue. Not only is the location itself like none other, literally hugging the water's edge, the food is beyond outstanding and the staff is wonderfully professional. The recent renovation under new ownership was so well done, featuring modern and nautical decor while maintaining the charm of the North Fork. The Halyard is connected with The Soundview Hotel making it a truly ideal wedding location, allowing couple's to relax without having to shuffle around on the big day. And no matter what light is given, the closeness to the sea at The Halyard ensures beautiful photos always. It's a special place on The North Fork and hands down my favorite waterfront venue.
