About this venue

Building 177, originally the Naval Library, has been newly renovated with wood floors and white walls, and is a wonderful blank space for your event. The space has grand vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, and offers over 7,000 square feet of versatile space. Designed specifically with events in mind, guests flow naturally between our scenic outdoor patio, an entry foyer, and our main hall. We also have designed bridal suite for brides and their bridal parties to enjoy. For corporate events, we have the option to add on break out rooms and conference spaces at the Command Center, just steps from Building 177. Building 177 hosts up to 425 guests for a seated reception, 500 for theatre style, and 750 guests for a cocktail style party. Our rates vary from $4500 to $7500 depending on the day of the week and the season. We look forward to chatting with you and hearing more about the event you are dreaming up.

Featuring elevated vaulted ceilings and robust rectangular pillars, this venue offers a customizable setting to host your special occasion. Whether you are having a large-scale formal banquet or a low-key intimate gathering, the light and airy space is sure to delight your guests. Originally serving as a Naval Library, Building 177 has been recently renovated to cater for wedding events. Up to 400 guests can be seated at this spacious venue. With pristine white walls, exposed beams, and modern timber flooring, this space offers the perfect blank canvas for your event. Alternatively, a standing capacity of over 700 guests is available for a relaxed cocktail reception. The 7000 square-foot space includes a stylish foyer, main hall area, and an outdoor patio. You and your partner can use the comfortable on-site get-ready rooms to prepare for your festivities.

Other items offered include rental equipment, visual projectors, microphones, and a podium. The venue is also wheelchair accessible, with WiFi available throughout.

Each of our BLDG 177 venue rentals include the set up and tear down of our inventory. Before your rental start time, our staff will have the inventory set up and ready to go so you can begin designing the space to your preferences! In addition to the included general inventory, we also offer rentals, such as projector + screen, market lights, stage riser, farm tables, + more!

    We chose Building 177 for our wedding because we wanted a blank canvas that fit our minimal, modern aesthetic. I still remember the way my eyes lit up when we first saw it in person—my husband reminds me of it to this day. The venue itself is stunning, with gorgeous lighting and beautiful surrounding areas for photos, making it easy to bring our vision to life. Now, onto the team. From the moment we toured to the very end of our event, everyone was incredibly helpful. Without a planner, I truly appreciated Dayna’s guidance—she made the planning process so much smoother and helped me remember details I might have completely overlooked. Communication was always quick and effortless, making everything stress-free. I couldn’t have asked for a better venue or team—it was an absolutely perfect day.

    I've designed so many weddings here and it's a bride and designers dream :) The minimal lines, bright lighting and subtly style make it was versatile. It really lets your vision pop. I always love working in this space and hope to be back again & again.

    We had our wedding here in September of 2024. We really felt like we could make the space our own and the space was large enough to hold our large guest list with ease. The venue is also very centrally located in San Diego, making it an easy destination for guests. Everything was perfect - the on site bridal suite, outdoor access for cocktail hour, set up for the band, spaces around the venue for photos, etc. Added bonus that the curfew was 11 PM - it's hard to find venues in San Diego the accommodate anything after 10 PM. I can't recommend this venue enough!
