So here's the tea... I'm a wise-cracking, extroverted Capricorn who excels at corralling your rowdy family for photos and charming Aunt Carol, the self-deemed professional iPad photographer. Ever since I was little, huddled on the couch with my five siblings rewatching The Lion King, I knew that I wanted to be a storyteller. Growing up in a creative household, I studied a wide range of arts before settling on filmmaking. I envisioned in my head that I would be the next Spielberg, but after shooting my first wedding in 2013 all my plans changed.

I first started in this industry as a filmmaker and transitioned to doing weddings after shooting my first one in 2013. Because of my background, I approach each wedding as if it were a film and make sure your photos have the best lighting, angles and that you and your partner feel comfortable being in front of the camera.

    If you are looking for the best, I mean the BEST photographer out there, look no further!!! We wanted someone who would “get us”, to be able to navigate all the craziness of an older audience… we were a small party but one with multiple challenges and Maya made it fun, entertaining, and exciting. She got everyone to participate no matter how much they declined. I’m so grateful that we found Maya! She’s full of energy and she goes out of her way to make sure that everyone is included, double checks with the bride and groom to make sure that we got everything covered that we wanted. By the end of our initial interview with her, she already felt like part of the family… if I had to do it all over again, I would hire her in a hot second!!! (I'll probably created reasons to hire her brilliance again.) Don’t let this one get by!!! Every BRIDE needs a MAYA!!! If I have a need to hire a photographer again, for any reason, I’ll be calling Maya!!! (I’ll probably create reasons just so I can hire her brilliance again) She will capture moments you didn’t realize existed, it’s so heartwarming to see all the smiles captured during the “candid moments”. Our Best Man even commented on how much we were all smiling during the entire day, and how refreshing it was to see so many happy people! We didn’t just have a wedding, we had an experience! Thank you Maya for everything you did to make our day so extraordinary!!!

    This was possibly the happiest day of our lives. We're glad we trusted Maya. This lady worked HARD and put in the entire day and then some. She really put in 110%. Not only did she ensure the highest quality, she settled for nothing less than the best. She is an outright expert with the camera, and knows exactly how to not only compose the perfect shot but to make it a work of art as well. Furthermore, any nerves we had about making sure the day went off right were instantly quashed by her wonderful energy and humor which really made the most special day even more special. Folks, don't leave the most special day in our lives up to chance. Make it easy on yourselves, hire Maya. Her work speaks for itself.

    Maya was an absolute gem to work with. Even prior to officially picking a venue that worked closely with Maya, she was willing to answer my questions and even helped provide pros and cons to different months to pick a date based on our vision. We then got to meet her for engagement pictures. She made the process so smooth and put us at ease, also helped navigate the “what do I do with my hands.” As our wedding was approaching, we were able to get on a couple of zoom calls to be sure we had all the groups of pictures we wanted planned ahead (when you have a big family this was SUPER helpful to keep things organized and not miss anyone). Then came wedding day, wow, Maya and her assistant Courtney were just wonderful. Organized and supportive all along the way. She kept open communication with the coordinator and DJ at all times too so we were all on the same page.They laughed with us, cried with us, and danced with us. My friends and family kept mentioning what a delight they both were as well. I would recommend Maya 1000 times over. She is kind, easy going, makes everyone feel comfortable, and just a bright light that shines. Oh and did I mention her photos come out so stunning?! Our pictures are everything we could’ve ever hoped for. Thank you for everything!

    Maya Papaya Pictures was an absolute pleasure to work with for our wedding & engagement session. Her communication was prompt, and they truly listened to our wants and needs, responding quickly to any questions or concerns. The quality of their work exceeded our expectations - it was of the highest caliber. On the day of our wedding, Maya & Courtney helped calm the nerves of the chaotic day and worked seamlessly with our two huge and intrusive families to capture beautiful photos. We could not be happier with the memories they helped create for us. We can not wait to use Maya for any photo necessities we might need!
