Shane and I gave up our lives in the big city of Houston, both quit our jobs to pursue a life that was more in alignment with where our hearts are. Built in the 1850's, The Lowry House is a rare hip-roofed galleried cottage. The house was originally located at 426 Fortification Street, but was moved in 1914 when North Congress Street was extended north beyond Fortification Street. It was the residence of Gov. Robert Lowry, who served as governor from 1882 to 1890, after his term in office. The house was also owned by the Hull family who bought the house in 1908 and was responsible for the additions and alterations that occurred. The home and the lot it now sits on were donated to the Mississippi Heritage Trust by Baptist Hospital in 2006 after being named one of MS 10 Most Endangered Historic Places in 2005.

Oak Hill Estate hosts both a historic home and a banquet space on its premises. The house is approximately 2,600 sq ft while the banquet space is about 6,700 square feet. The exterior of the estate is meticulously cared for, showcasing green lawns and landscaped gardens. Couples will have separate get-ready spaces, each with their own aesthetic. The kitchen comes fully equipped. Ceremonies can take place indoors or out, and the same goes for receptions. Couples holding their wedding celebration at Oak Hill Estate will have the opportunity to rent various useful additions from the venue’s collection. These may include chairs, tables, chandeliers, centerpieces, bistro tables, and many other items. Two set packages are available. Each of these offers two-day rental blocks as well as seating provisions. In addition to weddings, this venue is pleased to host social gatherings, parties, reunions, retreats, and more.
