Located in the Michigan City's Uptown Arts District surrounded by history sits this 150+ year old church. It was fully renovated in 2020 while keeping the charm of old architecture. We offer an experience that merges the past and the present through modern comfort and historical luxury. All eyes will be focused on you as you enter our beautiful ballroom. As you begin your magical journey down our center aisle, you will meet the love of your life, where the two of you will vow your love to one another. Exiting the ballroom as a newly married couple, you’ll begin your new life in celebration with your guests during cocktail hour in our lounge & historic courtyard. Once returning to the cathedral ballroom, you will enter into your gorgeous, fully transformed dinner and reception space. This is your night!

“My wedding planning experience with Uptown was phenomenal. If you have the pleasure of working alongside Jeremy and Judy, they are there to support and manage decisions with you every step of the way, helping you feel like you are in control of your vision while they help guide what all they can do for you to make it happen. Both professional and empathetic to your needs and vision, we felt like a dreamy team to put the day together from the start. (We had our reception here only, so it was great to not have the stress of a room flip.) Would recommend you ask them for local recommendations, as we used just about every recommendation they had; florist, cake, driving service, and local accommodations for our bridal party and our guests. Every single recommendation was amazing to work with, with professionalism and the touch of warmth from a small town that we personally loved, all thanks to Uptown. Michigan City is the cutest Lake town with surprisingly a lot of food, drinks, and nature to explore. This was a semi-destination wedding for us and our guests as we are from Chicago and most other family from Ohio or farther. So a lot of guests took advantage of having an extended weekend to explore the National Park, Lake, and Winery in the area. So if that is something you think your guests would like to take advantage of, it was definitely a winning aspect leading up to the day. We got to mingle with guests prior to the wedding so it didn't feel like a complete rush of saying hello to all of our guests on Saturday. The venue is spectacular, perfect for a modern church vibe turned into a booming party space; we ended up clearing our head table from the stage to have more room for fun and dancing! The sound system is awesome, so one less thing for a DJ to have to bring. Lighting in the ball room is customisable which we had a lot of fun working with Jeremy on to change the mood for each part of the night. All other areas of the venue are simple, elegant, and give the space for guests to mix and mingle without being stuck in one area of your wedding (bar lounge, courtyard, front patio, and balcony areas). I could seriously not say enough about the wonderful experience we had at our wedding, and Uptown was definitely a key player. Much love to Jeremy and Judy 3”

Constructed in 1871 by Bavarian immigrant Philip H. Zorn Jr., Barrelhouse The Venue resides on the historic Zorn campus. As an annex to the brewery, Barrelhouse The Venue would manufacture beer barrels to house fresh beer prior to distribution around Northwest Indiana. Though unoccupied now, the original ice-house, brew-house, and malting building still stand across the street, a reminder of the dream Philip Zorn brought with him to America.

Friendship Botanic Gardens is a unique, beautiful setting for the outdoor wedding and other special events. Weddings are scheduled from mid-May through mid-October. Fountains splash, birds sing, and trees tower above. The Gardens include over one hundred acres of woods and landscaped areas, providing one of the most beautiful outdoor venues in Northwest Indiana. The Gardens can accommodate a small and intimate wedding ceremony of a few family and friends, or a larger wedding ceremony up to 300 guests. Friendship Botanic Gardens welcomes and honors all marriages of all types. We do not discriminate against anyone. All weddings include chairs, use of the area for three hours and rehearsal privileges. Arrangements can be made for use of the Bridal Cabin and golf cart shuttle with driver to transport guests to the venue. Ceremonies and receptions will be customized by our wedding coordinator. Weddings over 400 guests can be custom designed to suit your needs.

“I picked this location because of how beautiful the landscape is. So many different spots on the property to get married on, all beautiful. Different locations cost different price. Overall, relatively cheap compared to other venues. When talking to them, I first started with one wedding coordinator. She left and was informed about the new coordinator. She introduced herself and thought she was awesome. She was very tentative to all the details and was very helpful. I wasn’t informed that she had left and a new coordinator had taken her spot. I didn’t know there was a new coordinator until the day before the wedding. She didn’t take charge of anything. She took a back seat to everything. Told her I had a specific song I wanted to play for walking down the aisle. There wasn’t any sort practice with the song at the rehearsal. She couldn’t figure out how to connect my phone to the sound system. She couldn’t figure out how to navigate the song that I had already pulled up on my phone.”
