Milkweed Moments

Homeschoolin, Home birthin, and Holistic mama that loves to capture Life and Love in it's truest moments and forms. My business has been a decade in the making from falling in love with photography in high school, to now... My love for Milkweed and my time spent living in Iowa has inspired my business name. I used to live near a conservation center with fields of milkweed. My children and I spent many days enjoying this haven of beauty and were blessed to see thousands of Monarch butterflies migrate to the Milkweed. I realize how fleeting these moments are and would love to capture your story!

So easy to work with and professional! My labor went very quickly so photos were in the immediate postpartum. I love how each detail was captured so intimately to tell the story, so I can look back on those moments. She respected the environment and helped in any way to make sure I felt cared for-above and beyond being a photographer. We also did some newborn/family photos a few days later and she was very patient with my full of energy toddler, all while capturing the sweet details of our newborn. All of the photos are beautiful!! When I asked for a few edits to the gallery it was done and updated for me quickly.

Initial Impressions

Hello! My name is Samantha Tomblin, owner of Initial Impressions. I’ve been doing photography for about 13 years now. The moment I began photographing, I fell in love with the whole process. My favorite part is capturing love, personalities and emotions in a still image. I’m a people person and love getting to know each of my clients, which I believe helps create a fun relaxing atmosphere at each of my sessions.

Samantha and her second shooter, Katie, were fantastic to work with. We were a bit hesitant working with someone we didn't know from personal connections, but the positive reviews convinced us it was worth a shot. We are very thankful we hired Initial Impressions! From the beginning, Samantha communicated clearly and frequently. She was super patient with us, a bride and groom who weren't exactly sure what they wanted and were often slow at getting back to her, and helped us draft a schedule for the photographers for the Big Day. She was really good about letting us make decisions and augmenting them with her expert advice. On the day of, she and Katie were supportive and kind while being unobtrusive. I was surprised when we got our photos back to see moments that I had no idea they had captured! Extremely professional and excellent at capturing special moments. Speaking of getting photos back, Initial Impressions sent us the whole gallery only 3 weeks after the event with over 800 photos. We absolutely love them! From her consistent communication, ability to guide indecisive people, pleasant attitude, and superb professionalism, we would 100% work with Initial Impressions again.

More than a decade ago, two sisters - knew there had to be a better way to allow talented photographers and videographers to focus on what they do best -- create gorgeous art -- while providing couples with better support in the planning process. Together, they created an all-inclusive, stress-free environment where couples can choose from talented local photographers and videographers and work with a small team of planning experts equipped and eager to make everything a success. With the pressure gone, you can truly enjoy your big day. Relax and rest assured that all the emotional and moments will be documented with unmatched quality.

We can't recommend OLAS enough! Our photographer, Victoria, was amazing—super bubbly and made us feel comfortable right away during both our engagement and wedding shoots. She was so fun to work with while remaining highly professional and knowledgeable. The variety in our photos was incredible, but some of my favorites were the natural ones that perfectly captured our personalities. The rest of the OLAS team was also fantastic, helping us develop a detailed timeline and sharing portfolios of potential photographers to choose from. We received our photos quickly, and they were beautifully edited and of exceptional quality. Be sure to check out OLAS—and definitely ask for Victoria!

Pedro was awesome! We were looking for a local (in Chicago) photographer, and found the perfect one. He was super easy to work with, and took amazing pictures. Our initial meeting was via Zoom, which made working it around our schedule super easy. He was extremely responsive to all of my emails, and even was workable with our budget and what we wanted to accomplish with photography. I love his ability to take un-staged, in the moment photos as well as great family photos. He went above and beyond for us, and we are grateful for so many amazing photos to choose from. I would definitely hire him again in a heartbeat.

Flower Moxie – Do-It-Yourself Wedding Flowers

4.8

  • Florist
  • Starts at $350
  • Serves Lowpoint, IL

In 2013, 8-year wedding veteran Amy McCord Jones realizes she wouldn't be able to afford to hire her own floral services if she was a bride. Then, Amy discovers that there is basically zero help available for DIY brides. No flower recipes. No instructions. No access to florist-grade blooms. Rude. So she launches Flower Moxie! Flower Moxie remains a humble, tucked-away small business out of Oklahoma City. We don’t zoom around on scooters in some fancy high-rise. We stock an average kitchen with canned wine and Aldi chips and listen to true crime podcasts while photographing curvy ranunculus. Join us. There’s cake, hugs, and acceptance here.

Awarded Best of Zola
Flower Moxie was a great floral vendor. Their wide range of diy tutorials was very helpful, and our florist helped us form a vision for our wedding flowers. We were very happy with how our flowers turned out, and proud we could have a hand in diy-ing this aspect of our wedding.

Hi! Courtney here (that's me on the left!). Shutter and Sound is the brainchild of renowned wedding videographer Ryan Geldermann. Ryan began his wedding videography career in 2010 in Los Angeles and quickly became recognized as one of the top videographers in the U.S.. After relocating to DC and still receiving countless inquiries from all corners of the country, Ryan decided to recruit and train a few talented friends so he could continue offering the quality wedding videography he’s known for in SoCal and eventually over 10 cities. Shutter and Sound is a very small group of filmmakers dedicated to turning your big day into a work of art.

We are thrilled with the stunning work of Shutter and Sound! Their highly talented videographers perfectly captured all the love and memories of our wedding day, and helped preserve them in film. Reliving the day by watching our highlight video brought us and our family to tears of joy. Every beautiful moment was captured with crystal-clear visuals from getting ready with our wedding attendants to our sparkler send off at the end of the night. The drone footage and details shots also perfectly blended with the rest of the film and helped set the stage for our perfect day. We can’t thank Shutter and Sound enough for the creativity and care they put into making our wedding video. I highly recommend!

You can hit me up any time- we can brainstorm all the ideas, timelines, all the tiniest details! I am a fan of Pinterest vision boards, sending each other tons of messages and be open about EVERYTHING! This is your day! Let’s make it all about YOU!

All I can say is Connie is hands down so much more than a photographer. She was so patient, kind, and positive when we had our elopement. We got down pour rain and she was quick to have plans to take us to get beautiful pictures. She was so thoughtful with doing things she didn’t have to do, like helping hold my wet dress, and so much more. Connie is extremely calming presence in a stressful and hectic day. We absolutely loved our pictures and all the special moments she captured without us realizing and was truly so special working with her!

Just like you, I have felt awkward in front of the camera. I’ve had photos taken of me that I didn’t like. When you go on a session with me, I will not only make you feel comfortable, but I will make sure you look good! I will give you prompts to keep you moving and laughing. I’m sorry but there are some angles, and poses that are not flattering for everyone. Like, please don’t take a photo of me from below! Hello double chin! What I’m saying is, I got you!

Awarded Best of Zola
Lacie captured moments that took my breath away. Her style and skill is every bride’s dream. She delivers everything you adore from those Pinterest and Instagram wedding photos. So there is no question she can deliver what she is looking for. And we are beyond thrilled with all of our photos. The sneak peeks are also so much fun (she sends a batch of photos shortly after she shoots you). But where Lacie shines and what I have to tell you about is everything else. She truly went above and beyond. She’s not just a photographer, she’ll be one of your favorite people on your special day. Yes, Lacie is kind and friendly and comforting and just the kind of person you need on your wedding day (and who you wished you roomed with in college). But she is so much more. Here are just some of the few meaningful things Lacie did that I noticed that I’ll forever carry with me. Firstly, I had a very important rosary I wanted to photograph, and with the chaos, I had forgotten. It would have broken my heart if I left it behind. Lacie remembered. I got fixated on an insignificant hiccup on my wedding day that could have ruined my day. Lacie redirected my attention to the things that really mattered and brightened up my mood immediately. Leading up to the wedding, Lacie advocated for me and my husband ensuring us she was fully dedicated to only us on the day, literally saying “You and Sean are my priority.” Nobody and nothing would take her attention away from us. She was always quick to respond to texts, I could go to her for quick wedding advice, and she’s genuinely so passionate about her craft. Lacie could really be a wedding planner with how much she knows. Other vendors loved working with her, especially our videographers. She was so quick, efficient, and took initiative. She gave them space and skillfully took turns capturing moments with them. With a big wedding party and spacious venue, we kept losing track of people for pictures, Lacie corralled them masterfully. She’s not afraid to get people to focus and get the photos done, but also in the most polite and respectful way. I watched videos of brides saying I wish this or that moment was captured. Sometimes I’d forget whether I had those moments captured myself. Then I go to Lacie’s photos and every single thing that brides mentioned got missed by their photographer she captured for me. Her vibe! She’s so positive and cheery. I was so nervous and also worried about how dark my church was. She got me excited about it after turning it into a positive saying it would look like the theater and she could absolutely work with it. I texted her a shoot list the night before our wedding. She carried that around and took it so seriously making sure she captured everything I listed. I made a Pinterest board of photos I liked and she remembered ones I forgot I included in there. She was my favorite vendor (tied with my incredible florist @dazyflorals) and the vendor I had no worries about it. I didn’t have to check in with her. I could trust her with my eyes closed. She’d be where she needed to be on time, professional, and prepared. I’m going to miss her. Sign her and soak up her sunshine for me, will ya?

The Faux Bouquets

5.0

  • Florist
  • Starts at $175
  • Serves Lowpoint, IL

Believe it or not, we often have people ask if our pictures throughout our website are showing a mix of fresh and faux and…no they aren’t! Although fresh florals are pretty, we are totally in love with poser-blooms all the way here and that’s what we design 100% of our orders with.

Awarded Best of Zola
I recently had the pleasure of working with The Faux Bouquets for my wedding and couldn't be happier with their service. Their communication through email was great - they were fast, reliable, and very helpful in answering all of my questions. The faux flowers they provided looked and photographed just as if they were real, and the final product was stunning. I would highly recommend The Faux Bouquets to any couple looking for beautiful, high-quality floral arrangements for their wedding.
