Krumbs Cakes

5.0

  • Starts at $45
  • Serves Alameda, CA

"I live for the moment when my customers see their incredible edibles for the very first time. Nothing brings me more joy than watching their faces light up with great big smiles. The extreme satisfaction is what gets me every time. Knowing I make dreams come true is why I love what I do."

We're from San Francisco and were getting married in the city, but decided to venture across the bridge after striking out on other vendors due to price, size limitations (270 people_, or general availability. We feel so lucky that we came across Krumbs based on the A experience, from tasting to delivery. From the get-go, it felt like there was nothing they wouldn't do. One thing we truly hoped for was a true cake-tasting experience. In the post-COVID landscape, everything is "come buy cupcakes and let us know what you think." We went out to Krumbs and were so excited to be able to sit down and be treated to all of their cake, mousse, and frosting flavors, and even though we had only inquired about one flavor, we left with two. They were also super-flexible when it came to design and weighed in with their own opinions after learning about the wedding vibe, cake topper, etc. Their pricing was affordable but the experience felt premium in every way, from the tasting to delivery and putting the finishing touches at the venue. We were able to hand them off to our venue coordinator and they managed everything from there. We also had them do our sheet cake for the rest of the guests so everyone could have the same experience. We like them so much we went back to buy a birthday cake for my mother-in-law a few weeks later. SF is great but I feel like we found a gem in Krumb's and would recommend them to anyone.

I've enjoyed mochi donuts from other businesses but someone told me I had to try Mochata and I'm glad I took their word for it. Best mochi donuts hands down that I've had in a long time! I reached out to Erik to inquire about catering mini mochi donuts for my wedding in March 2024 and his customer service was on a whole other level. He was so personable and friendly that I just wanted to order just because of that (go small businesses go!). I asked if he had samples to try and he gladly made a batch and I ended up ordering 5 dozen mini donuts. Everyone at my wedding LOVED them. So much that I didn't even get to have any myself during reception! What stands out the most about Mochata's donuts is that the flavor is actually IN the donut itself. Not just the icing that we're all used to. And the texture? Exactly the way a mochi should taste. Flavors? ON POINT!! The toppings are very generous, especially the Cookies N Cream and Mint Oreo. My absolute favorites are Coconut Pandan, Ube and Strawberries N Cream and my husband always goes for the Mint Oreo. Now that it's post-wedding, I've been having cravings so I ordered more just for my family and I to enjoy. I haven't tried all the flavors yet but I have no doubt that they all taste delicious. I also recently got myself a Thai Horchata drink. I never thought about combining the two flavors together and it was super good! Now I feel like I need to try every flavor of that as well. Thank you Erik for being able to make my wedding day even more special! Definitely plan to be a regular customer for whenever I have a craving.

Auntie Viv's

5.0

  • Starts at $500
  • Serves Alameda, CA

Auntie Viv's is an AAPI woman-owned & family operated small business adventure. When we visited Maui for the first time, and I fell in love at “first taste” with my very first Hawaiian shave ice. How I describe this phenomenon: “It literally was like a deliciously flavored, puffy cloud that instantly melted in my mouth & tasted like liquid gold. It was the best epicurean experience ever." I had my sights set on opening my own shave ice business & spending more time with my husband & two young daughters. I found myself being unhappy, working really long hours & it took a toll on my physical & mental health. Auntie Viv's opened Sept. 2017.

I was completely lost on what to do for dessert for my wedding until I stumbled upon Auntie Viv's!! My husband and I went to Hawaii for our first vacation together so having shave ice brought back so many memories. I booked her services only a month before my wedding, communication was prompt and smooth. I was so happy she could accommodate on such late notice. Vivian arrived early and figured out all the logistics of setting up so she could get ready for service which was a detail I missed but she handled it so well. The shave ice was so delicious, my friends and family still tell me about how good the shave ice was to this day! Having Auntie Viv's at my wedding was such a highlight, and I would definitely book her again for events in the future.

My husband and I ordered a small wedding cake for our special day and it was wonderful. We requested something simple yet elegant with flowers, and the execution was beautiful. We both loved the complex black sesame flavor (rare for a cake in our city) and I’m still drooling thinking about it! I would definitely order a cake from PQ again, especially for special occasions like birthdays or renewing our vows.

Their communication style put us at ease throughout the planning process. The quality of their work was simply outstanding - the cake was not only delicious, but also beautifully crafted and uniquely designed. They even came through for us with a last-minute add-on of custom mini cookies, which our guests raved about. Palette Cakes completely understood our style and helped set everything up seamlessly at the venue, taking one less stress off our plate on the big day. Sf Candy Bar

  • Serves Alameda, CA

When I opened SF Candy Bar in 2012, the business was busy from the start. In 2012, the economy was just coming out of a recession and Silicon Valley started to attract top talent from all over the world. Experiential add on features, like our candy buffets, was fun at office parties, trade shows and holiday parties. Brides and Mitzvahs also found so much joy in our services. Fast forward to more than a decade later, we have added on more services from popcorn buffets, custom packaged party favors, and trail mix buffets. SF Candy Bar is dedicated to providing stunning buffet designs to guests at special events.

SF Candy Bar was the perfect addition to our wedding, and they truly delivered a 5-star experience. The dessert and candy buffet was a stunning centerpiece that wowed our guests. From elegant macarons and gourmet chocolates to nostalgic candies, every treat was as delicious as it was beautifully presented. The setup was flawless, with intricate displays that matched our wedding theme perfectly. The team was professional, attentive, and made sure everything was seamless, allowing us to enjoy our special day without worry. Karlie was very easy to work with. We met with her and then based on our conversation she sketched out ~6 different design ideas and also shared some example photos of different design aspects. The final cake looked exactly like what we had in mind. I remember during the wedding telling my husband that I was surprised they ended up using real flowers instead of sugar flowers. We didn't realize until the next day that they were actually sugar! They looked incredibly realistic and matched the floral decor perfectly. Also - the cake itself was delicious. We had plans to freeze some of it and eat it on our first anniversary, but ended up eating it all. Oops. We received numerous compliments from our guests. Thank you Story Cake Studio!

Secret Kitchen SF

5.0

  • Starts at $1
  • Serves Alameda, CA for additional fees

I really love cakes and desserts. Like, I REALLY love them! I have professional training in the tastiest pastry areas: from chocolates to caramels, classic to modern European cakes. The wedding dessert table is the happiest place in the world, and my aim is to provide that for your big day.

I enjoyed my experience with SKSF. If I had to get married again, lol, I would order the same cake. I’m very particular about my desserts especially as I normally hate wedding cakes as most don’t taste good at all. My cake was simply perfect for me and my guests LOVED it. While it was on the smaller side, I only had 31 people at my wedding due to COVID. The cake SKSF created for us was absolutely beautiful and delicious. If you don’t know what European honey cakes taste like, try it! It’s amazing. But it has to be done right! SKSF makes them right!

Whether its for your wedding or for any occasion, 43 & Co is our go to dessert vendor. I cannot rave enough about 43 & Co - we absolutely love their presentation, taste, professionalism, to how accommodating they are with our requests and they are simply easy to work with. It was one of the easiest decisions when selecting a vendor for our desserts at our wedding. We met Likbin from 43 & Co in 2019 when we were beginning our vendor selection process. We connected and set a date for a tasting specifically for their mini desserts. When we got to their tasting room, it was intimate and straight to the point - the pre-selected desserts were presented on a platter and they even gave us bonus treats to try. The quality of the ingredients are premium and you can just taste it. Fast forward to wedding planning, our wedding was postpone at least 3 times due to circumstances around the pandemic. Every time we reached out to 43 & Co, they expressed they would take care of us whenever our date was! I can't explain how much burden and stress this took off from us! Case in point, we found out with a month away, our cake vendor had moved. We were beyond stressed and took a shot in the dark to see if 43 & Co would be able to make our wedding cake. After a few questions regarding what we were looking for - they obliged and delivered everything we wanted and beyond for our wedding day. They were prompt, came for set up and the dessert bar was a hit. Mini desserts were all gone by the end of the night and the 3 -tiered cake was our favorite - Vanilla cake with passionfruit curd. It was one of the moist cakes we ever had! Needless to say, we are craving their desserts as I type. For sure, we will be going back very soon. :) We want to take this chance to express our gratitude to a small business who truly takes their business seriously and are darn good at what they do. We highly recommend 43 & Co for any event or just because! ;) Thank you, 43 & Co!
