About this venue

The first Common Man Restaurant opened in Ashland, NH in 1971. In the summer of ’72, we catered our first uncommon event. More than 50 years later, we offer 17 event venues in five locations across the state. We’ve catered to countless happy brides, local businesses, proud parents, raucous best men, bridesmaids, and delighted friends. We’ve planned perfect roasts, showers, BBQs, fundraisers, anniversaries, parties, dinners, and weddings. Our success is built on recognizing that your special event is just that, a special point in time. Our friendly, experienced catering team remains true to that understanding and is devoted to helping you realize exactly what you have in mind. We’ve renovated the event halls at The Common Man Inn & Spa in Plymouth and opened The Nest, a cozy event space at Common Man Ashland. We’re excited to host events at The Barn on the Pemi, our rustic event barn located in Plymouth, accommodating up to 300 guests with views of the mountains and Pemi river.

Getting ready for my wedding at the spa!

My husband and I got married at the Barn on the Pemi on 5/31/24, which works closely with the Common Man Inn & Spa. We had our room block, rehearsal dinner, and after party at the Inn, but I'm here to rave about our experience with the Spa! After booking our venue, I spoke to the Inn about any accommodations or recommendations they might have for somewhere for myself and my bridesmaids to get ready the morning of the wedding. They actually have what they affectionately call the "Getting Ready Room," which can be reserved ahead of time. I saw some pictures, saw that the room had some nice natural light, floor to ceiling mirrors and salon chairs, so I figured it was our best bet. Come wedding week and I went down to the spa with my bridesmaid to see the room and the pictures definitely did not do it justice! The room is large with a sitting area with a couch, table and chairs in the middle and salon-style chairs and mirrors around the perimeter. Our hair and makeup stylists were THRILLED with the setup, since they are used to cramped, poorly-lit hotel rooms for wedding prep! I will let the pictures speak for themselves, but want to add one more thing. The night before the wedding, one of my nails (done at a salon back home) broke and popped off - nightmare! I kept the broken piece and brought it to the Spa the morning of the wedding to see if they could help. The Spa staff went above and beyond to make sure my nails looked perfect. One of their nail techs sat in front of my while I was having my makeup done, glued the nail piece back on, and put a top layer of the. white french tip and clear coat shellac over all of my nails to make sure they all looked the same. I would highly recommend the Spa Getting Ready Room for the morning of your wedding - the space and the staff are fantastic!

I am a Justice of the Peace and have officiated weddings at the Common Man Inn & Spa for several years now. Some weddings have been large and some have been very small. Regardless of the size of the wedding they have always been great to work with. Communication is always top notch. I am always encouraging couples to check out the Common Man when they are beginning to search for their venue.

Tables, chairs, house ivory tablecloths (85x85’s), ivory napkins, China, flatware, sweetheart specialty chairs and barware. (Specialty linen is available in a variety of colors with prices of $12 per tablecloth, $15 per floor-length cloth, and $2 per napkin. Prices are subject to change without notice)

Yes, however they must be contained in lanterns, cylinders or votives. Taper candles are not permitted within the event halls.

No. The Common Man Inn and Spa must provide all food and beverages for your events within our event halls. Your wedding cake or dessert is the only food allowed in from an outside vendor and it must be from a licensed baker. If you are looking for something specific, please contact us. We are happy to work with you! *Please note that ALL outside baked items MUST be brought in the DAY OF your event. We do not allow drop off the night prior unless coordinated with your coordinator, in special circumstances.

Yes. Your coordinator will reach out to you 3-months prior to your wedding date; at this time, you will start working together on detailing your special day! This particular coordinator will be your contact moving forward. Up to this point you may have spoken to other Coordinators on site, which is OK – we all work together as a team!

Our chefs are wonderfully talented when it comes to food sensitivities. We are happy to create separate plates to accommodate all the above. We will have staff nearby the buffet to answer questions and supply a separate meal if requested. These folks will need to approach a staff member for their meal. Please inform them in advance if you have ordered something separate for them. We kindly request this information at your 2-week detail meeting, in order to ensure our chefs enough time to adjust ordering or menu planning.

No, unfortunately not. All alcohol that is consumed must be within the event halls only.

Yes, we do. We have free parking anywhere on The Common Man Inn & Spa campus.

Yes, all our facilities are wheelchair accessible. We also have ramps at the main and side entrances, hearing-impaired fire alarm lights, and trained staff.
