I’ve thought long and hard about writing this review. I’m not one to leave negative feedback, as I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt. However, after my fiancé and I had such a negative experience, I feel it’s important to share our story so others can be aware before booking this venue. We booked The Fifth Floor nearly a year before our wedding at an expo. During the expo, the staff seemed disorganized, unable to provide direct answers and constantly asking each other questions. They offered a deal on decor, and since both my fiancé and I have demanding jobs (I’m a full-time ER nurse, and he’s a firefighter/paramedic), we didn’t have the time or desire to handle decor ourselves. So, we decided to proceed with the venue and paid our deposit. However, after that, we received no communication from the venue. Several months later, due to financial changes, we decided to elope instead of having a big wedding, still eight months before the planned date. We reached out to the owner, who informed us that the deposit was non-refundable, but if the date was rebooked by the end of January, she would refund it. Since our wedding was on the first Saturday in June, we were confident it would be booked. On February 2, my fiancé followed up with the owner, who said the date had been booked but still refused to refund our deposit. This felt unfair given the ample notice we provided and the prime wedding season date. She strung us along for weeks, and just two days after the deadline, she became rude and uncooperative in her emails. We had repeatedly mentioned that if we weren’t getting our deposit back, we’d have to keep our original date. Instead, she rebooked the date, took the new deposit, and told us that our date was no longer available, meaning we wouldn’t get a refund. My fiancé, always the kind person, tried to reason with her, explaining how we felt taken advantage of. Her responses were long, argumentative emails stating she was right and refusing to compromise. The entire situation was frustrating and handled very unprofessionally. I regret not reading reviews before booking. This has been an emotional time for us, and instead of helping us, the venue owner made everything worse and more stressful. All of our other vendors happily refunded our deposits and wished us the best. Unfortunately, The Fifth Floor didn’t show the same level of professionalism or tact. I hope this review helps others avoid the frustration we experienced.

Hi Rachel, This is inaccurate, but I am sorry you’re feeling frustrated. I told you that your deposit was non-refundable even if another couple books, but I said I would be willing to refund if I could get the date booked by January. At this time you guys completely understood and appreciated that we would even consider refunding the deposit. I reached out in February letting you know a couple was interested in your date. You guys said “we’d be happy to hand over the date to fill your venue”. In NO way did I give up your date. You guys handed it over and told me to book them. Since we were past January it was understood, if you read the original email, that you wouldn’t be getting your deposit back. Furthermore, you said “ We also understand that we made the non-refundable deposit and aren't owed anything from your business. We respect that. We are just in a bit of limbo right now trying to see what we can do and wanted to see what the options were on your end. Thank you again.” Past that, once you guys became frustrated that your deposit wasn’t being refunded after clear communication on my part, i told you we could still accommodate your wedding that morning that you originally booked or we could do another date. This review is extremely hurtful because it’s not true at all. I was clear with you that it would only be refunded in January, I’m sorry you didn’t understand that. Here is my initial email to you: I am sad to hear this, for selfish reasons, but congratulations on your business purchases! The $1,000 is non-refundable even if someone else takes the date. However, if you think you guys are going to end up cancelling please let us know sooner than 30 days out if possible so we can try to rebook that date. If I can get that date booked in January I will refund your $1,000, but if not we use the deposit money for advertising to get our dates booked. Just let me know what you guys end up wanting to do because we would obviously love to host your wedding, but if it’s not going to work I totally understand and would like to try and get that date booked from another couple. :) Here is your email to me allowing us to rebook the date: if you have someone who wants the date we are happy to hand it over to them and make sure your venue is filled. Thank you for helping us out. We are sorry things didn’t work out but we are not dishonest, we were upfront the entire time and were willing to comprise on so many levels this type of review is dishonest and misleading.

The 5th Floor was an amazing wedding venue for our special day. The communication from Ariel and her team was incredible - they were so responsive in answering texts and emails, and made the experience feel very personal in helping us plan every detail. On the day of, they kept everything moving smoothly and were incredibly helpful in making sure we stayed on schedule. The venue itself was gorgeous, spacious, and truly unique. Paired with its convenient location in downtown Ogden it was the perfect space for our wedding. The Photo station was a huge hit with the guests, our only downside was the memory cards kept filling up so a lot of photos weren’t ever saved unfortunately. You can tell the whole team really cares about making each event special and ensuring couples have the best experience possible. We are so grateful to the 5th Floor for helping to make our wedding day perfect.
