About this venue
At Historic Shady Lane, we believe every couple deserves the chance to have their dream wedding in a beautiful setting. The 34-acre property contributes to the rich history of this 1770 private estate. With gorgeous views and gardens, a magical glass and stone greenhouse, and a white frame tent complete with draping and chandeliers, Historic Shady Lane is a wedding venue made for creating memories that are true to you. We believe in outstanding customer service and are proud to be an award winning venue located conveniently in Central PA. We pride ourselves on welcoming all couples, their guests and families onto the estate to enjoy celebrating in the love of two people. We hope to see you for a tour soon!

The Reception Tent
AN ELEGANT TENTED OUTDOOR CELEBRATION
Our elegant reception tent measures 40x100 feet and provides the perfect canvas for any wedding theme. Complete with crystal chandeliers and a beautiful entry way, your guests will enjoy dinner and dancing all evening long!

The Main House
RICH WITH HISTORY
Built in 1825 by Jacob and Anne Hake, which you will see engraved on the front of the house, this stunning stone and wooden house hosts our den, one of the estate's wedding party suites. The house makes for a stunning backdrop for rose garden ceremonies and portraits with the 19th century stonework.

The Greenhouse
The gem of Historic Shady Lane - built in 1890 by Lord & Burnham, the glass and stone greenhouse is the setting for ceremonies and cocktail hours alike. Adorned with crystal chandeliers and twinkling white lights, the greenhouse is awaiting you and your guests.

The Den
Your significant other is sure to have a good time getting ready while playing some cards, throwing some darts and toasting to a new journey together!
Located under the patio of the Main House, the den is the estate's second wedding party suite. Complete with a full kitchen and bath, your second half won't have to stress about getting ready in a hotel and then making it to the ceremony on time. The den opens to a large shaded patio and has a beautiful view of the grounds. The Den and Cottage are far enough apart, photographers can take you out separately for photographs without worrying you'll bump into one another before the time is right.

The Cottage
Our stress-free, get pampered suite
Built in 1911, the cottage served as the home to Frederick Small's spinster sister. This building is home to first wedding party suite and includes the original windows which allow the natural sunlight to shine in. This alluring stone retreat with its hand-picked vintage pieces will provide you with privacy, comfort, and a perfect setting for photographs with your friends and bridal party. Enjoy being pampered and the stress-free feeling of having your stylists come to you in our salon suite!

Historic Shady Lane provided excellent communication throughout our wedding planning process. Their coordinator Caitlyn was very good about keeping us informed and addressing any of our questions or concerns. The venue itself was beautifully stunning, with a gorgeous greenhouse and very spacious reception tent. When it rained on our wedding day, they were quick to accommodate and rearrange the setup so our guests could stay nice and dry inside the greenhouse. They also offered golf cart transportation, which our guests really appreciated. While their preferred vendor list had some great options, we ended up finding an amazing makeup artist that wasn't on their list. Overall, Historic Shady Lane contributed greatly to making our special day unforgettable.
A Beautiful and Unique Venue
Historic Shady Lane is such a beautiful venue, both naturally and in it's structures. Working with Caitlyn and their recommended venues made my life so easy in planning because I was sure the whole day would turn out beautifully. We got married in July on what felt like one of the hottest days of the year, but all of our guests still had an amazing time and took complete advantage of the beautiful landscape and spaces HSL has to offer such as the gazebo, reception tent, green house, etc. When I started looking for a venue, I was keeping in mind something unique, natural looking, and beautiful and HSL was all of those things.
A favorite for a reason
It's no question why this venue is so beloved. As a wedding photographer, Historic Shady Lane offers so many unique and beautiful backdrops. We love the endless photo spots! You get rustic with all the stone, whimsical with the lush greenery, and industrial with the greenhouse. Having all 3 at one place is a rarity. Not only is the property picturesque, but those that run the operation are great to work with. We absolutely love the staff. We have only had wonderful experiences shooting at HSL and are looking forward to booking more weddings there in the future!
