I started photographing weddings in 2003 and eventually left my day job as a graphic designer to do photography full-time. In addition to photos, I create a few animated gifs from every session. My style is influenced by design principles, mid-century architecture, Edward Hopper paintings, plus films by Stanley Kubrick and Wes Anderson. I try to put as much attention into the surroundings or architecture as the subjects. I prefer to cover events solo and manage my own editing, posting teasers the next day. I’m based in the Detroit area but cover weddings all over America.

I’m routinely told that working with me is easy, fun, and relaxing. Plus your photos won’t look like everyone else’s. I provide cinematic, art-directed wedding & engagement photos. Specialized in unique digital color processing, and animated gif cinemagraphs. JLB is LGBT friendly.

JLB Photography was the first vendor my husband and I booked for our wedding. His eye for light, structure, and how to place subjects in a frame is impeccable! He is an expert in his field Our photos turned out incredible! We were so delighted by the time he took to take unique portraits of our guests, all in different locations at our venue. JLB was PHENOMENAL. Our entire bridal party and guests at our wedding complimented him and thought he was incredible. My husband is very shy with photos and he said he made him feel SO confident. We are in LOVE with our photos. We wanted someone who captured the essence of detroit and he went above and beyond. Book him!!! You will NOT regret it. Next day we had multiple photos, a reel, and animated GIFs.He was there every second capturing everything and had the best ideas. Best decision of our wedding hands down!!

I cannot say enough good words about working with Jeffrey. He did our engagement shoot in Ann Arbor and our wedding in Puerto Rico, and I can't be more thrilled with how our pictures turned out. We didn't want boring and overly traditional photos, and we really appreciated his graphic design flare. His photographs aren't just photographs - they're art. Not only will you get the most beautiful photos (and a few Gifs!) - but you get the pleasure of working with Jeffrey. He's professional and FUN and you can tell that he absolutely loves what he does! JLB was phenomenal, and our wedding photos are SO GOOD!! Our wedding was planned for 2020, but due to COVID and having a baby we didn’t end up celebrating our day until April 2023. JLB stuck by our side through all of the planning changes. Our photos are so special to me, especially with our 14 month old son now being apart of our day. JLB captured all of our special moments and we will cherish our photos forever! His work is beautiful, unique, and artistic. Book him!!
