I started photographing weddings in 2003 and eventually left my day job as a graphic designer to do photography full-time. In addition to photos, I create a few animated gifs from every session. My style is influenced by design principles, mid-century architecture, Edward Hopper paintings, plus films by Stanley Kubrick and Wes Anderson. I try to put as much attention into the surroundings or architecture as the subjects. I prefer to cover events solo and manage my own editing, posting teasers the next day. I’m based in the Detroit area but cover weddings all over America.

I’m routinely told that working with me is easy, fun, and relaxing. Plus your photos won’t look like everyone else’s. I provide cinematic, art-directed wedding & engagement photos. Specialized in unique digital color processing, and animated gif cinemagraphs. JLB is LGBT friendly.

JLB was the perfect choice for our wedding. In the early stages of our wedding planning, we looked at so many wedding photographers and none of them spoke to us... until we found JLB. His artistic style is so unique and expressive, and it fit the vision for our wedding so well. From the moment we started working with him, we felt assured that we had made the right choice. JLB was incredibly professional, organized, and knowledgable. He had a confident answer for every specific question we had (e.g., how do you take photos of people with darker skin tones). Things got even better once we met in person for a pre-wedding/engagement shoot. We were so nervous about taking professional photographs, but JLB made us feel instantly comfortable. Within minutes, we were having so much fun running around town, listening to JLB's instructions, and taking museum-worthy photos. Fast-forward to the wedding, and his approach was no different: he captured all of the right moments in picture-perfect fashion, all while being super organized and super friendly. We can't wait to look back at these photos again and again in the years to come. We can't recommend JLB enough!

Jeffrey is the kindest, most creative, talented and lovely person to have worked with. He perfectly captured our wedding day and the vibe we wanted to create. He was patient with our guests and gave us the most beautiful memories from our day. He is worth every penny. Our only regret about hiring JLB was that we only have one wedding day!

JLB Photography was the first vendor my husband and I booked for our wedding. His eye for light, structure, and how to place subjects in a frame is impeccable! He is an expert in his field Our photos turned out incredible! We were so delighted by the time he took to take unique portraits of our guests, all in different locations at our venue. JLB was PHENOMENAL. Our entire bridal party and guests at our wedding complimented him and thought he was incredible. My husband is very shy with photos and he said he made him feel SO confident. We are in LOVE with our photos. We wanted someone who captured the essence of detroit and he went above and beyond. Book him!!! You will NOT regret it. Next day we had multiple photos, a reel, and animated GIFs.He was there every second capturing everything and had the best ideas. Best decision of our wedding hands down!!
