Soul Essential celebrates all the music that changed our lives - that remind us of that first summer we heard those songs together. From 70s New York funk to a potpourri of Chicago Blues and R&B, Soul Essential takes you down memory lane with a blend of select songs, sweet harmony, outstanding groove and professional presentation.

As a Team on and off stage, Eric and I have created Soul Essential to remind people of how music ignites your memories and stirs you soul. Eric Charles began playing guitar in his teens with Robert Lee Herbert. Charles performed in Chicago for decades and in Europe for almost a decade, recording and playing with a selection of Europe’s finest musicians while fronting the Eric Charles Group. Amy V worked with Bobby Taylor (of Sam Taylor fame) and ultimately her own spinoff music-dance project “Antourage”, which performed events and festivals, notably opening for the Gap Band and Dazz Band. Amy is the co-founded Soul Essential.
