Nestled along the dramatic cliffs and gorgeous white-sand beaches of the Central California Coast, Carmel Fields by Wedgewood Weddings boasts exceptional views across Monterey County. Carmel Fields was the perfect wedding venue! The venue itself is beautiful, newly remodeled with a beautiful nature preserve for photos. The planning staff was incredibly responsive, accommodated all of our additional asks and requests, and helped consolidate all the planning into one place. Our day could not have been better. The Gardens At Heather Farm

5.0

Walnut Creek, CA
  • Up to 150 guests
  • Raw space
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $2,000

Set against a breathtaking backdrop of vibrant garden landscapes, wedding couples take center stage to celebrate their special day. Picture exchanging vows in a stunning ceremony surrounded by thousands of roses, savoring cocktails and conversations as you stroll along tree-lined garden paths, and dancing the night away in a spacious hilltop reception hall with panoramic views of acres of natural beauty.

We booked the gardens in mid May for our wedding and it was a gorgeous wedding venue! It offers a spacious, beautiful garden teeming with blooming roses, different garden areas to explore, a super cute gazebo ceremony space, a nice cocktail area near the reception room, and the reception room with large windows for plenty of natural light. The lot has 50 free parking spaces. The rental rate is fairly reasonable for the venue space and what's offered. In addition to the main spaces, there's a getting ready room downstairs available to add on, seating for the ceremony, circle/rectangular (not full width) tables for dinner, and a few cocktail tables for the bar area downstairs. Management allows for a fair amount of DIYing and independent vendor selections, with the only exceptions being a preferred catering list with good selection and off list caterers allowed with a fee and vetting. Professionals also must put up any hanging decorations in the reception room, and decor can't be hung directly off of the garden structures and reception room walls. We communicated with Jenna throughout the planning process. She was super responsive and helpful, answering every question we sent her way. Overall, I loved the gardens for our wedding and would recommend it to others!

Shadelands Ranch Museum

5.0

Walnut Creek, CA
  • Up to 250 guests
  • Raw space
  • Outdoor
  • Starts at $1,500

The beautifully maintained landscaping surrounds the Shadelands Ranch house, the picturesque rose-bush-surrounded gazebo provide the perfect setting for any outdoor social event — from a wedding to a family reunion, from a corporate retreat to a community get-together. Large lawn area beneath the trees that will seat 250-300 guests A classic 19th-Century gazebo that is versatile. Large paver patio perfect for dancing Victorian-style wrap-around porch Grove area shaded by large oak trees Large oak trees that provide ample shade & lighting that is hung for events Historic ambiance that includes a circa-1902 water tank house & cabin Small kitchen for caterer staging with gas range and oven, refrigerator & dishwasher Bridal Alcove on outdoor porch Modern restrooms Plenty of parking On-site event staff to assist during the event The grounds of the Shadelands Ranch are available for non-commercial use by individuals, families, businesses, and non-profit organizations from April - October

We had our wedding at Shadelands Ranch Museum in 2018 and couldn't have been happier with our decision! We had a few parameters to work within — a tight budget, a list of vendors we wanted to work with, and a large guest count. The staff at Shadelands were incredibly accommodating and easy to partner with. Since their policy allows food trucks and other mobile caterers, we were able to hire one of our favorite local BBQ restaurants to cater, which was a huge hit. The venue grounds are large enough to fit a sizeable group — perfect for our guests who brought children — they had plenty of room to run around on the lawn. In the summer, the venue adds string lights in the trees around their gazebo, creating a beautiful and romantic touch when the sun sets. The gazebo served as a beautiful centerpiece and the location for our photo booth. Our DJ had plenty of space to set up on the back patio, which doubled as the dance floor. The venue’s accessibility was incredible, with ample parking, clean restrooms, a kitchen, and a porch for the bride to ‘hide’ until the ceremony. And because the venue provided the tables and chairs, we only needed to rent table linens. Shadelands is the place to book if you want a beautiful and affordable outdoor wedding venue in Walnut Creek that can accommodate both your ceremony and reception. The attentive staff, accessible location, and flexibility around customization make it an ideal place to tie the knot!

Spacious parkland combines with historic charm and unique architecture to create a gorgeous wedding and events venue at Hacienda de las Flores. You and your guests will have access to the property's scenic grounds, complete with lush greenery and gardens. This historic Town-owned property includes the Hacienda de las Flores, Pavilion, La Sala, Casita and a large lawn enhanced by blue atlas trees, willows, palms and flowers. Tranquil and secluded, Hacienda de las Flores offers one of the prettiest garden environments for your wedding in the East Bay.

We had a wonderful wedding - the Wedgewood team helped us create a meaningful ceremony and reception. The pictures online do not do this place justice - you have to see it for yourself! The grounds are beautiful; we had our ceremony at the pavilion and our reception in the garden area / in their indoor hall area. The venue definitely felt like a fairy / cottage core dream to me! Wedgewood also vendors that work with them and provide really excellent services - florals, music, cakes. If you want to have an awesome wedding and reduce your stress, I would check this place out.

Chabot is an awesome and unique place to have a wedding or other event. We had our wedding ceremony outdoors by the telescopes (the planetarium was our backup rain location). Our cocktail hour was in the museum (second floor of Spees) and our reception was in Astronomy Hall. Since Chabot is in the middle of a redwood forest, there are lots of great places for photos. Chabot looks so cool that you don’t need many decorations. And the public telescope viewings on Saturday night provide an awesome activity for wedding guests who don’t like to dance. Our guests thought the venue was awesome. Perhaps the best thing about Chabot, however, is how helpful the staff is. Samantha Stevick, the Associate Director of Events, was particularly amazing. She was on top of everything and gave us so much helpful advice and good vendor recommendations. If she wanted to start a side business as a wedding planner, she absolutely could do it. It’s also great that you can pick your own caterer so you’re not stuck with some venue’s boring food. There were enough great options on Chabot’s preferred caterer list that we went with one of them, but we could have paid a bit extra to have any caterer we wanted. We were strongly encouraged by Chabot to choose a preferred caterer as the caterer has to do all of the set up of tables, chairs, etc. (for ceremony and for reception) in addition to food. The caterer can only do setup starting at 5pm when the museum closes, which does not give them much time (our ceremony started at 6pm), so it helps to have a caterer who is experienced with the venue. We went with Blue Heron and we really loved their food; they also did a great job with event setup. Note that if you go with Chabot, the biggest expense of your wedding budget will be the caterer as the caterer will provide all of the setup and furniture for the event in addition to food and drink service. Therefore, if budget is of concern, I would recommend getting a rough quote from one or more of Chabot’s preferred caterers prior to booking the venue so that you can get an idea of what the rough cost of the venue + furniture + setup + catering would be. Worth noting: Chabot has strict rules about fire and anything that could make a mess. Candle flames must be two inches below the glass. No sparklers. No flower petals, glitter, rice, bird seed, etc. But it’s worth it, it’ll just force you to be creative. We had our flower kids use bubble guns (a suggestion from Samantha) instead of flower petals.
