Summers Mill Retreat and Conference center has been built on a rich history. When it was founded in 1998 by Paul and Jane Meyer, they wanted "this place to be a ministry and to lead with a servant’s heart based on Christian values and principles." The name of our retreat center goes back to the grist mill built by John Myers in the spring of 1866. Business was good and within a year, he added a saw mill and a cotton gin. When John Myers died, it passed in rapid succession through the hands of Robert A. Myers, Douglas McKenzie, and D.C. Summers. Windy Knoll is our family ranch. When my husband and I got engaged, we wanted nothing more than to get married at Windy Knoll. Rather than rent a tent for the occasion, my mom decided to build a wedding venue! The wood beams that make up the bones of the Wedding Barn were originally erected in the 1840s in Maryland. The original barn was the site of several battles during the Civil War, partially burned down, and rebuilt in the 1860s. A company called Heritage Restorations disassembled the beams and transported them all the way to Round Top, where they were reassembled and turned into the Wedding Barn.

In addition to the Tiny Chapel there is a 1325 square foot reception hall. It is DIY. You set up and break down. You can rent our tables and chairs if you want. If you need an officiant, one lives on-site. There is a bridal cabin and a man shed for grooms. Or if you’re two brides or two grooms, y’all can flip a coin and see who gets what space. You can easily fit 80 guests in the reception hall so if it rains, you are literally covered. We have hosted hundreds of weddings from elopements to bigger events.
