At WOW Event Center we believe our guests should have the opportunity to experience the historic charm of Alton’s Riverfront District. Our venue is housed in a series of buildings dating back to the 1880’s. These buildings contain rustic elements with a chic industrial ambiance featuring exposed brick, hardwood floors, a pallet wall and visible rafters. Events that take place during the day are complemented by the beautiful view of the world-renowned Clark Bridge and the glistening Mississippi River. Construction on the Lake Springfield Postal Club began in the early 1940s. Post office employees donated over 50,000 hours on weekends, evenings and days off to complete the building. A team of horses and a sliding bucket were used to dig out the basement. The Postal Club officially opened in 1948. The total construction cost was approximately $15,000. In 2005, there were only two of the original Postal Club members left. In 2000 the Postal Club merged with the Springfield Firefighters Local 37. In 2001 the firefighters burned down the original Postal Club to make way for a new building. The new club was completed in 2002. The total construction cost was $3.6 million. The clubhouse is surrounded by 5 acres of woods, with boathouses, docks, beaches, parking lot, sidewalks, bandstand, and much more.

Edwards Place, built in 1833, was a social center of antebellum Springfield. In its gracious parlors Abraham Lincoln, Stephen Douglas, Ulysses S. Grant, and other Illinois luminaries gathered at elegant parties and balls. You, too, can have your special day in the same rooms where Abraham and Mary Lincoln were guests more than 150 years ago, now meticulously restored to the grandeur of their antebellum days. Edwards Place is available to rent for showers, weddings, and receptions – the perfect choice for a distinctive event in a historically significant setting. You can even include extra services for your event, such as the use of a piano often heard by Abraham Lincoln (and possibly played at his wedding!). We specialize in hosting beautiful weddings, ranging from large and formal, to small and informal, unique, and even quirky! We offer two dedicated getting ready rooms for both members of the couple, multiple ceremony locations, and a grand banquet hall for your reception! The venue is exclusive use only - meaning the venue is yours for the entire day! We can accommodate up to 180 guests in our reception hall. The venue price includes use of tables, chairs, on-site parking, and more!

We also offer a cocktail hour bar cart and a shuttle service for local hotel blocks or to our off site Loveland Home that sleeps up to 12 guests {located just 10 minutes away}. Our venue hosts up to 215 guests. 1 hour rehearsal, wooden cross back chairs, private bridal suite and grooms loft included in price. Tours offered throughout the week by appointment. Upon booking, we will send you a list of all of our favorite vendors, but we do not require to use them and you may choose your own caterer.
