I stumbled into it, literally. I had no plans to become a wedding photographer. I was either going to follow my dad’s path and go to dental school, or become a social worker. But a freshman in college decided to shoot a few photos for fun, and now over eight years and almost 200 weddings later, I could not imagine myself doing anything else. This is my dream job!

I decided the summer before senior year of high school that I wanted to try out a harp lesson, and ever since that day, I haven’t looked back! In my 13 years of study, I have primarily learned from Elizabeth LeBlanc. I also attended two summers at Rocky Mountain Springs Harp Program, where I studied with Kathryn Harms. I have been very fortunate to have wonderful teachers who got me where I am today! Outside of my musical background , my degree is in Early Childhood Education. Lakeside Occasions is a family-owned wedding barn in the heart of northern Indiana's Amish country. Our historic dairy barn was built in the late 1880's and has been in the family ever since! We call it "The Guernsey" in reference to the type of cows that were milked there. The barn is nestled between picturesque farmland on a peaceful lake in a small village known as Emma.

The Hopewell Barn is located about 1/2 mile south of the historic Hopewell Church. Built in 1872 and purchased by Deb in 2018, the church is listed on National Historic Register for its ties to Gene Stratton Porter. Gene was a famous author in the early 1900’s and the area of ‘Hopewell’ was used as the locale for the settings for several of her books. The name ‘Rustic Barn at Hopewell’ was selected to pay tribute to historic roots of the Hopewell area.

Thompson is a professional violinist and teacher with a Master of Music degree in Early Music from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Bowling Green State University. She has a private violin studio in Fort Wayne, IN, and performs with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic and Marion Philharmonic. Her ensemble Evermore Strings provides live classical strings music for weddings and events throughout northeast Indiana.
