Cut the distractions and unplug on your honeymoon. Find out how to ignore notifications and go off the grid to unwind on a truly chill honeymoon with your partner.

Your honeymoon is the perfect time to get away and chill with your new spouse. But in today's culture of 24/7 connectivity (texting and emails and #hashtags) unplugging and feeling truly chill on your honeymoon can feel seriously challenging.
Challenging—but not impossible. Here’s how you can unplug, unwind, and have a truly chill honeymoon with your partner.
One of the biggest keys to unplugging and having a truly chill honeymoon happens long before your honeymoon actually starts. If you don’t want to spend your honeymoon fielding phone calls, text messages, and work emails, it’s important to prep everyone before you leave.
The more steps you take to let them know you’re truly going to be out of pocket, the less likely it is they’ll try to reach you. And the easier it will be for you to disconnect and relax on your honeymoon.
Chances are, you have a lot of things you need for your honeymoon stored on your phone, tablet, or laptop (like your reservation confirmations, for example). If you have to search through your email every time you need something, though, you’re more likely to get sucked into distractions, like work emails or social media notifications.
Instead, organize everything you’ll need for your honeymoon in one, easy-to-access place. You can create a folder on your phone—or, if you really want to avoid the phone trap, you can print out any necessary documents and keep them in a folder in your luggage.
Old school? Yes. Effective? Also yes.
You don’t need to know every time someone sends you an email, comments on one of your photos, or invites you to a game of Candy Crush. It’s going to be hard to unplug, chill, and be present for your honeymoon if your phone is pinging every five minutes.
So, turn off all your notifications. It might feel uncomfortable at first (what if someone comments on one of our wedding photos?!) Don’t worry—all those texts, emails, social media comments, and game invites will be there when you pick back up your phone. You just don’t need them to pull you out of the moments you’re enjoying on your honeymoon with your partner.
Turning off notifications is a great start. But the truth is, your phone has plenty of other ways to take you out of the moment on your honeymoon—if you let it.
If you know you’re prone to digital distractions, take precautionary steps to remove as many of those distractions from your phone as possible:
The fewer distractions on your phone, the less you’ll be tempted to look at it—and the more you’ll be able to relax, unwind, and enjoy your trip.
You only get to take one honeymoon with your spouse, and you want to be as present as possible. Now that you know how to truly unplug, all that’s left to do? Get out there, unwind, and enjoy the truly chill honeymoon you both deserve.
